What Is the 2024 Lexus RZ?

Debuting for 2023 as the first all-electric Lexus, the RZ is a luxury SUV that slots between the brand’s compact NX and mid-size RX SUVs in terms of size. The RZ shares a basic platform with the Toyota bZ4X and is available with front- or all-wheel drive. The front-drive RZ 300e is new for 2024, and it has a single motor making 201 horsepower; it can go up to 266 miles on a full charge, per the EPA, although upgrading from the standard 18-inch wheels to the available 20-inch wheels drops that figure to just 224 miles. The AWD RZ 450e adds a second motor on the rear axle that bumps total output to 310 hp; it drops the driving range to 220 miles with the standard wheels and just 196 miles on the 20s. The RZ’s rivals include the Audi Q4 e-Tron, Cadillac Lyriq and Genesis GV60.

What’s New on the 2024 Lexus RZ?

In addition to the new front-drive RZ 300e model, which drops the RZ’s starting price by almost $5,000, a dual-voltage charging cable is now standard on all RZs. It enables charging on both 120- and 240-volt outlets.

How Much Range Does the 2024 Lexus RZ Have?

The Lexus RZ’s EPA-estimated driving range runs from 196-226 miles depending on trim and wheel size.

How Long Does It Take to Charge the 2024 Lexus RZ?

The Lexus RZ’s charging times range from an estimated 9.5 hours on a standard 240V Level 2 charger to go to a 100% charge, down to an estimated 30 minutes on a 350-kilowatt DC fast charger to go from a 10% charge to 80%.

What Features in the 2024 Lexus RZ Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Synthetic leather seating
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 14-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
  • Lane-centering steering
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • 360-degree camera system

Available features include:

  • 20-inch wheels
  • Synthetic suede upholstery
  • Heated outboard rear seats
  • Front-seat foot-and-leg radiant heater
  • Digital-camera rearview mirror
  • 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system
  • Head-up display
  • Lane change assist
  • Front cross-traffic alert
  • Automated steering while parking

Should I Buy the 2024 Lexus RZ?

Most new electric vehicles introduced in the last few years have significantly greater range than the RZ — and some even double it. Its slow charging speed means you get the worst of both worlds: The battery drains quickly, and it takes a long time to recharge. For the money, there are plenty of choices with superior range. If you’re just looking for a daily-use EV for a commute and its short leash doesn’t bother you, the RZ is a luxurious and comfortable way to motor silently around.

We have earned this vehicle for a couple of years now

We have earned this vehicle for a couple of years now almost and how discovered many likes and a few dislikes about the rz450e. We owned the RX 350 at first which was a wonderful car we just wanted to get the experience of an EV now we know to never do this again, here's why; first off we love all of the features inside the vehicle ie, the screen is beautiful the setup of the infantainment system is awesome along with the interior setup. The downfall to this awesome vehicle to a point, is nothing more than the range allowed when it's hot or cold. We were told at the time of purchase that we would receive at the most of a full charge 210 miles. We have yet to see over 185 to 190 after a full charge. Not only bad, it gets worse because if we were to use our comfort equipment as in the AC and heat, we would lose an additional 40 miles which sometimes leaves us with 150 to 165 of usable miles. With that being said, I don't believe it is worth the value in which the car was sold. Because we were already upside down in our trade we wound up paying a total of $73,000 for this vehicle. After owning the vehicle for maybe five to six months, we find out that the vehicle went down in value tremendously. I am not sure of the exact dollars though I do know my vehicle right now is worth half of what we purchased it for. No one would trade for this vehicle unless we lost heavenly within the process. When me and my wife went in to find out what our car is worth a few months ago we found out that the vehicle is or at that time was only worth $55,000. Our vehicle at that time still had less than 2500 miles on it. Later on we found out that Lexus came up with a plan for anyone that is planning to go on a loan trip on vacation, we're able to bring in their electric vehicle to trade in for a vehicle that has an internal combustion engine in order to relieve the pressures of having to stop and charge up periodically. I have to say that this process made it easier to hold on to this vehicle just a little bit longer granted my wife really really loved the car. I know he does not like to have to put it on the charger every time we come home from driving around running errands do you mean that we do not like to park the car with less than 80 or 70 Mi because we may need it to go somewhere in emergency. On one occasion I can remember we will not far from home still in the city however we had to make a few stops here and there though we were getting low on charge so we were to make it back home before getting too low. It was raining out and we were low on now so in order to get home or to make sure we get home, we had to crack the window a little bit because it was getting hot in the comfort area. This did not go very well for us at all. We wanted to trade this car in as fast as possible if we could. Last but not least I do not want to forget to speak in terms of the cost of the consistency of charge that cost us more in our home. We have an intermediate or level 2 charger installed in our garage. We also have solar panels attached to our home to alleviate or to assist to alleviate expensive electric bills. Our bill now have went from at an average of $220 a month two at the most $700 a month which means we are paying more for the electric vehicle then we are for the previous RX 350 we would love to go back to. We have spoken to our representative at the dealer and only were able to say to us is sorry that you feel that way about your purchase we thought it would be better. So to end this review we would give this vehicle a thumbs down with no more thought to it and get back into a better vehicle immediately.
