What’s New?

For 2025, a new Premium Sport trim joined the family with the lower-output turbo engine or the plug-in hybrid powertrain; this year, all 3.3 Turbo S variants now get the Premium Sport option with dark contrast exterior trim.

Exterior additions for the Premium Sport include a piano black honeycomb mesh grille, black chrome signature wing and “Inline 6” badging, black 21-inch wheels, and a black and dark chrome front lower bumper valence, as well as black moldings, door trims, mirrors, roof rails and Mazda brand logo. Inside, the Turbo S Premium Sport gets a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic and memory setting, black or white Nappa leather seats, eight-way power adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, heated second-row seats, leather-wrapped shifter, and three-zone automatic climate control with third row vents.

One other exterior update is a new paint color, Polymetal Gray Metallic. Lastly, all 2026 CX-90s now include Amazon Alexa technology for voice commands, and PHEV trims now feature standard 21-inch wheels, eight-way power adjustable and ventilated front seats, heated first- and second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Otherwise, the 2026 Mazda CX-90 largely carries over. It can again be configured with six, seven or eight seats across three rows.

Powertrain Specs

Power comes from a pair of mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-six cylinder engines tuned to run on either regular or premium gas; all-wheel drive is standard. The lower-output engine generates 280 horsepower, while the high-output six-cylinder makes 319 hp on regular gas and 340 hp on premium.

There’s also a plug-in hybrid powertrain that uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and a 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery. The PHEV makes a total of 323 hp on premium fuel and can travel up to 26 miles on electricity alone, per Mazda.
