What Is the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross?

The Toyota Corolla Cross is a five-seat subcompact SUV that competes with similarly pint-size, budget-friendly rivals, including the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Trax, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Volkswagen Taos. Based on the same platform used in the Corolla sedan and hatchback, the Corolla Cross comes standard with a 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine coupled to a continuously variable automatic transmission. All trims are available with front- or all-wheel drive. The Corolla Cross is also available as a hybrid, which comes standard with AWD and features a 196-hp gas-electric four-cylinder that returns an impressive EPA-rated 42 mpg in combined city/highway driving. The Corolla Cross Hybrid’s closest competitor is the Kia Niro; it offers plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains in addition to its regular hybrid powertrain, but all come only with FWD.

What’s New on the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross?

The Corolla Cross sees no significant changes for 2025.

What Features in the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Two USB ports
  • Automatic climate control
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Rear-seat reminder
  • Lane-centering steering

Available features include:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Synthetic leather upholstery
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Power liftgate
  • Moonroof
  • JBL audio system
  • Safe exit warning
  • Blind spot warning
  • Reverse automatic emergency braking

Should I Buy the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross?

The Toyota Corolla Cross is a great value for anyone looking for an affordable small SUV that’s good on gas. It comes standard with many desirable features, including wireless smartphone connectivity. Every Corolla Cross is equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense suite of advanced driver aids. What keeps the Corolla Cross from being great instead of merely good is the coarse, underwhelming four-cylinder used in the non-hybrid model. Upgrading to the more powerful (but pricier) Corolla Cross Hybrid delivers a slightly more refined driving experience in addition to the expected fuel-economy gains, but you’ll pay extra for those virtues.

  • Owned 2005 Corolla for 20 years.

Owned 2005 Corolla for 20 years. Was intrigued by new Cross. Blind Spot Monitors were a must. Wasn't sure if I wanted to give up the trunk. So now that I own it....... CON: I MISS MY TRUNK! The trunk holds more, don't hear things jiggling, hides it. I got a cargo cover to hide what's in the back, but even if I have a lawn chair back there, groceries are a problem. Stuff moves way more than in a trunk. PRO - I like sitting higher. Nothing catches on cement blocks in parking lots, doesn't bottom out on speed humps in big metro. When on highway it's a tad noisier than old Corolla (which was noisy), must turn up radio volume quite a bit to hear - not a huge deal. Can't hear much conversation while on highway. MAJOR CON - I went with minimal add-ons and upgrades. THERE IS NO BUTTON IN CAR OR ON FAB TO OPEN TRUNK! I never would have thought to ask. Jeeze, I have to get out of the car any time I need to open the rear hatch. AWFUL. CON - For 20 years I washed my car every other week and kept it immaculate. I'm 5'2 and now can't even reach the center of the hood to clean the new Cross. I never do automatic car washes because I only use cotton (not terry) cloth to clean. I haven't yet figured out how to clean the Cross. I can't reach the hood, I have NO IDEA how I'm going to wax the roof. PRO - This is my first back-up camera. It's life changing. But I'm sure that's the case on any new car. CON - There is almost no storage space for driver. Arm rest box is MUCH smaller than old corolla. There is no center glove box, no little storage box on driver right-side of instrument panel. CON - Speedometer increments and markings are only every 20 miles, not 10 with markings at 5. So when driving you have to estimate your speed and quickly calculate what you see on speedometer. Plastic exterior body parts sound and feel very cheap. CON - Didn't want and don't like the WeatherTech floor mats - even though I wasn't charged for them. After only 2 weeks they are filthy and holding dirt and were messy to take out to clean. I miss my $20 generic set of winter floor mats and actually might take out the WeatherTechs and go to Walmart for mats that bend and come out easier. I only had to clean those twice a year. These look filthy after 2 weeks. PRO -- got 31 MPG on highway. CON - With driver seat in highest position, I didn't feel I need power seats, it's difficult for me to get into the car because the seat is too high. I'm the only driver and never had the need to adjust seat every time I get in or out of any car I've ever owned. The horn sounds weak. I don't like how the car keeps braking on its own. I adjusted as much as possible, but this feature may end up causing an accident because every time it brakes, I'm looking around to see what I missed, but I didn't miss anything. It brakes too much. I can't stress enough how the cargo area fits almost nothing.

Got it new with huge discount,,vehicle is overpriced if you pay close to MSRP would not recommend noisy tires,,hard seats not comfy...ride of suspension is excellent and soft tires and strong front end very good but not much to pick from for interior colors. Size is ok sits up high I have not gone over any bumps or pot holes. Just smooth roads.
