2017 ZL1 Camaro Repairs
November 6, 2018
A very bad situation with a good outcome. After filling up my 2017 ZL1 Camaro and in route home my vehicle started spraying raw fuel from between the intake high pressure fuel pump and regulator onto the hot exhaust system and the gas was so hot it was smoking, I knew it was very close to igniting and with 2-3 gallons of 93 octane fuel under the vehicle, it would be a total melt down! I latched the hood to the first notch and started driving the vehicle at a reduced speed for a couple of reasons: 1. to not be parked over 2-3 gallons of high-octane fuel and 2. to help cool the fuel that was spraying on the very hot exhaust system, my plan was to drive the vehicle until the fuel ran out or the pump shut down. As it turned out the pump shut down, however not before it had pumped 8-10 gallons of fuel in 5 miles, talk about bad gas millage. The car started to sputter and I safely pulled off the road, called Chevrolet Road Side Assistance and started the process. I explained that this car required special towing procedures and they sent out Jacobs Towing. Mike did a great job loading and offloading the vehicle at Bob Pulte Chevrolet. It was afterhours when we arrived and I noticed an employee leaving the rear parking lot. I flagged Josh down and he was great, he helped offload the car and he also opened the dealership up and set me up with a 2017 Malibu, cant thank Josh enough for going way above and beyond for a customer. My Camaro was inspected the next morning and the high pressure pump and regulator assembly was ordered and expedited, the repairs were made and I have my ZL1 back safe and sound. I have always purchased Chevys, 8 new ones to date, and have had varying degrees of customer service, however this instance is 5 Star all the way, from the Road Side Assistance, Jacobs Towing and Bob Pulte Chevrolet a very sincere THANK YOU!
