Ford is not my true pick of vehicle as I am a Chevy girl, however, I didn't choose a Chevy as the sales folk were less than tasteful in their tactics at the dealership in Grand Haven. (Pushy to say the least). On that note, I took a look at several other vehicles including Mazda, Kia, Toyota, Ford - from this area and surrounding areas. Chad "Ducky" Gitchel was the salesperson I dealt with at Preferred Ford in Grand Haven. He was just awesome! I don't think I've ever met a more helpful and polite salesperson before. He brought vehicles to my home for me to test drive, had paperwork on them for me, worked out numbers and had them all in hand when he arrived with the vehicle. He targeted everything I was looking for in a vehicle that I had requested. I surely cannot say the man is not thorough. In the end, despite all of his hard work, I decided to lease a different car from another dealership. He was supportive of my decision and I truly feel he has the customer's best interest at heart and he will make the best deal for you as he possibly can at all times. He knows the decision is yours, and it is a big one. I guarantee when my lease is up I will be going to visit Ducky first thing. As to a downside, they need to work on parking for customers in their lot. I am disabled and the one time I was there they had new trucks parked so they were blocking all of the handicapped parking spots.

I had a transmission issue on my 2016 F250, and was in a significant time crunch due to moving so I needed my truck fixed asap. I called around some of the smaller local shops mainly because I typically don't like going to a dealer figuring I'd get pushed to the bottom of the pile. All other shops told me they were booked out 3-4 days, and couldn't help me out. I decided to give Barber Ford a try, and I was very impresses with the service. Originally they said they were booked up, but when I explained my situation they said if I left my truck there they could possibly squeeze it in between jobs. Figuring I'd be without a truck for a while I rented a car. I was very surprised to find out they completed it the next day so I could still keep my moving schedule in tact, and the price was fair. This changed my whole opinion of going to a dealer which is nice. They earned another customer for when the time comes.

I was looking for a car similar to the one that I already had and noticed that dealership had what I was looking for!! I flew in to Chicago and John picked me up from the airport. He drove me around showing me where Michael Jordan lives along the way to the dealership. When we got to the dealership I was greeted by his son's whom work with him at the dealership. We sat down , he discussed the everything about the vehicle to me ( which he previously did over the phone) he showed me pictures of he and his kids and some of the Hot Rod's he had/ he sold ( my father and I are/ were also into Hot Rod's) We all had some laughs about his boys driving Hot Rod's to high school and what is teachers thought about it back then. I gave him the remaining balance due and I signed the papers for the vehicle. While sitting there listening to John (the owner) along with listening to his son's.. I thought, WOW... WHAT A GREAT FAMILY ....NOT TO MENTION A GREAT FAMILY BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!! Before leaving informed me that he had driven the vehicle and let me know ahead of time everything about the vehicle and basically told me that it was a solid car and that I can easily without any problems drive it back to Maryland (Germantown - which I did of course)--- without any problems-- whatsoever!!!!!!!! To conclude this review, I will say this. John and his son's offer you a phenomenal experience when you go to their dealership and here are just some of the reasons; THEY ARE HONEST, UP FRONT, NO HASSLE, CARING, FRIENDLY, TRULY WARM ..... I can really continue to on about my experience with the family here at this dealership..... above everything.... it made me TRULY FEEL THAT I HAVE A FRIEND IN CHICAGO!!!!!!! This dealership, this family and their business TRULY IS THE EXAMPLE AND SET THE STANDARD FOR NOT ONLY A SMALL BUSINESS BUT ALSO GIVES YOU THE CUSTOMER THE REASON WHY WE OFTEN GO TO A SMALL BUSINESS INSTEAD OF A BIG BUSINESS DEALERSHIP!!!!!!! YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THE EXPERIENCE JOHN AND HIS SON'S/ FAMILY GIVE YOU AT HIGHLAND PARK...... YOU SIMPLY.... JUST CAN'T BEAT IT!!!!!! HIGHLAND PARK HAVE ALL THE ELEMENT'S OF WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL....... BUT THE THING THAT REALLY SET'S THEM APART FROM ANYONE ELSE........ THEY AREN'T TRYING TO FULFILL SOME COMPANY LOGO OR SLOGAN OR CREDE....... WHAT THEY DO JUST COMES NATURALLY TO THEM....... BECAUSE..... WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT......THEY REALLY ARE JUST AN AWESOME FAMILY.... LEAD BY A GREAT DAD.....WITH SOME GREAT BOY'S!!!!!!! I WISH YOU WELL JOHN.... SPEAKING TO YOU REMINDED ME OF MY DAD... Mike Chamberlin was not only a good salesperson and provided exceptional service, but offered services that are not usually the concern of the salesperson. Mike responded to our email with information about a vehicle that we had seen online, but it turned out not to have all the features that we wanted. Mike asked for our criteria then went about searching for this vehicle. He succeeded after finding the vehicle in another state about 8 1/2 hours/600 miles away. He made arrangements and got the vehicle to Dorrance Ford in Galesburg, MI. Galesburg is about 3 hours/160 miles round trip for us to drive to Dorrance Ford. Mike gave us home delivery after he also offered to get the duplicate title that we needed for our trade-in vehicle. We had our new vehicle and Mike drove our trade-in vehicle back to Dorrance Ford. These services were really appreciated, especially since we are all dealing with Covid-19. What a pleasant experience Mike provided. We'd highly recommend that you check with Mike Chamberlin if you are looking for a Ford product.
