CARS.COM — Ah, Memorial Day — the smell of hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, the luxury of an extra day off and the unofficial opening of road-trip season as summer begins in earnest. For some, that means it’s time to relax, but for the auto industry, it’s a flutter of activity: In addition to the annual ritual of rising gas prices, there’s also a spike in traffic dangers as more motorists hit the road.
And perhaps most importantly for car shoppers, it’s a huge weekend for new-car sales. If you’re among those ready to buy, here’s what you should know.
