What Is the 2023 Kia Seltos?

The 2023 Kia Seltos is a five-seat subcompact SUV that comes with a surprising number of features for a vehicle its price. This includes a number of active safety features, not to mention a user-friendly 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Seltos’ small size makes it a cinch to navigate in city traffic and tight parking spots. The base 146-horsepower four-cylinder is fuel-efficient but offers modest performance, while a 175-hp, turbocharged four-cylinder is optional.  All-wheel drive is standard on all but one of the Seltos’ five trims. Rivals include the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Venue, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Mazda CX-30.

What’s New on the 2023 Kia Seltos?

All Seltos trims get a new acoustic-glass windshield aimed at reducing wind noise, and the S trim level gains a standard blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert.

What Features in the 2023 Kia Seltos Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Six-speaker stereo
  • 60/40 split-folding backseat
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Driver attention monitor
  • Keyless entry
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Bluetooth

Available features include:

  • 10.25-inch touchscreen
  • Heated front seats
  • Navigation
  • Satellite radio
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • Imitation leather seating
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • LED headlights
  • Moonroof

Should I Buy the 2023 Kia Seltos?

The 2023 Kia Seltos is affordable, good on gas, and delivers plenty of passenger and cargo space given its tidy dimensions. AWD is standard on most trims, and the turbo engine adds a little more oomph if passing power is a priority. It’s also worth pointing out the Seltos has an extremely user-friendly infotainment system that takes only moments to master.

  • I owned a 2023 Kia Seltos S, color Neptune Blue.

I owned a 2023 Kia Seltos S, color Neptune Blue. I put 72000 miles on it doing UBER. The original tires it came with lasted me 65000 miles. Nothing went wrong other than the horn went out, which Kia fixed for free. It rides SMOOTH. I had TONS of compliments from my riders. They loved the space. It was easy to take HUGE packages and bags in and out and pick up people from airports and bus stations. It's one step down from their Sportage and worth the money. I just upgraded to a 2025. Guess what I bought? Another Seltos. These are amazing vehichles that don't get enough credit. The newer models have mood lighting. They have one touch and you can open the trunk. Some have leather seats and power seats which I now have. Everyone loved the color. So yes, buy a new kia in confidence. They also have Kia Connect now and you can find your car and immobilize it IF IF IF it gets stolen. Kia will go get it for you through their connect app. They also offer to install lojack. Go for it.

  • Hatchback light. Why oh why too little on side

Wonderful car, great acceleration and performance. The only negative I would give is the light in the hatchback! They put one small light to the bottom left!?? Why would they do that? You can't see anything but what is at the bottom left🙄🙄 I'm literally going to find a pop light to stick up above ON A BRAND NEW CAR!

  • Perfect First New Car for a Young Person.

I own the 2023 Kia Seltos S. At age 23 years old, its the perfect car for me to travel around in. It gets me to and from work, and still has plenty of space for passengers and suitcases for a long weekend trip. I have the FWD option, and its a gas saver. I drive 60% city, and 40% highway, and I've so far managed to average 35 mpg, that's two more than estimated. I picked the two tone roof option which I highly recommend as it makes finding your car a breeze in the parking lot. It has the right amount of comfort, and technology for a crossover sitting at $25k. I cannot recommend this vehicle enough!

  • New Car

Just purchased in December 2022 I only have 1100 miles on it. So far I'm loving this car. I'm hopeful that this car goes the distance as I'm getting near retirement age and put very low miles on cars. We'll see about reliability a few years from now.

  • Compact SUV, not a land-yacht...

Just got one. KIA was picked as JD POWER"S #1 most reliable car brand for 2022. Just found that out after I bought the Seltos. Nicely finished and all controls very intuitive-they put it together well so far as for materials and design. Very pleased with it so far.

  • I got mine, get yours!

I have had my Seltos SX for a couple months. I like the performance of the drive train, lots of get up and go and pretty good agility. Lots of tech and safety features. It has a LOT of room on the inside, never would have figured on that just by looking at the outside. People tell me it looks "sexy mean". Hubby has another brand small SUV that is nearly the same size and color as my Seltos, so I added a red silicone plate frame so we can tell them apart at a glance...mine has "lipstick and nails"...the plate frame and center hub rings on the wheels. A few wishes....1. a button on the fob/interior/app for the lift gate. 2. ability to hit the lock button and lock the vehicle when you exit instead of having to do it via the fob or app. 3. a lower adjustment (on the wall) for the seat belt so it doesn't get me across my short persons neck (I have a belt adapter). 4. a tad more cush on the front seats. 5. adjustable brightness on the "mood lights". FIL visited, drove it, went back home and is now looking at new Kia SUVs.

  • Get the turbo!

With the turbo motor it has very good acceleration and decent gas mileage. The seats are very comfortable. It could use a larger capacity gas tank and a power lift gate.

  • Love my mini Telluride!

Admittedly, I've just purchased my '23 Seltos SX and barely put over 2,000 miles on it so I can't speak too much to its reliability but so far so good! As far as exterior and interior styling, I'm very pleased with the quality of the interior as well as the great touch points and an overall ergonomic design. I have a spinal injury and I find the seats and suspension to be very comfortable even over longer drives, and when you use the driver assist features even longer trips aren't as tiring. I am also a fan of the front of the car because the bumper has a slope which not only gives it a more distinctive look, but also helps if you need to get over a slightly bigger bump in the road without having to worry about ripping off your bumper or doing any other cosmetic damage. The transmission is also surprisingly smooth in heavy traffic considering that it's a DCT. Overall, I'm a big fan of this compact SUV(?) and I can see why it's so popular! The engine puts out plenty of HP and torque to make the car responsive and it's quick which is very important when merging onto highways or general overtaking. Paired with the aforementioned 7-speed DCT and this car is very enjoyable to drive and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new car, especially one for the urban jungle!
