What Is the 2024 Toyota RAV4?

The Toyota RAV4 is a five-seat compact SUV that comes standard with a 203-horsepower four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trim levels, with all-wheel drive available. For drivers who want to maximize their fuel economy, Toyota also offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the RAV4. The hybrid pairs the RAV4’s four-cylinder with two electric motors for an output of 219 hp, while the PHEV RAV4 Prime has a punchy 302-hp powertrain and an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 42 miles. AWD is standard on hybrid and Prime models, which use an electric motor to power the rear wheels. Ample cargo room, a user-friendly infotainment touchscreen and a long list of active-safety features further distinguish the RAV4 from its numerous rivals, which include the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Bronco Sport, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage.

The RAV4 Hybrid offers 20.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind its backseat, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements. You can check how it performed in our Car Seat Check by clicking here.

  • 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE model is a great choice - interior

2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE model is a great choice - interior road noise & front seats that do not glide back enough are my ‘wish I would have paid attention to’ regrets. If passengers are over 6’2” with long legs, they do not fit in the front seat comfortably & many times I feel like an Uber driver with them choosing the back seat when going distances. Hybrids make a lot of noise when backing up which can turn heads - this is normal so don’t be alarmed. Gas mileage is terrific & its sporty exterior is over the top. I do love it & recommend it if not concerned about the cons I have mentioned.

  • This is our second RAV 4.

This is our second RAV 4. The ride is nice, the pickup is great for a 4 cylinder. Our 2012 RAV is a V6 and pickup when getting on the freeway is amazing. The 2024 is equally great. The exterior is sleek and very sharp looking. Looks better than some of the high end cars.

I traded in a Corolla hatchback for this RAV4. I love the size inside. I love the screen and it’s pretty comfortable though. I haven’t taken it on a very long trip. My gas mileage has decline since winter has come, but so far the all-wheel-drive is handling the snow

  • I love everything about this car!

I love everything about this car! I had an all electric Leaf for 10 years and was very happy with it, However, there was too much limitation on how far I could go. Now I am free to go any distance and feel good about still lowering the use of fossil fuels. Lots of storage room, Sun/Moon Roof!! Good all around vision. Runs like a dream.
