I'm assuming the dealership purchased the vehicle I bought through a third party. The vehicle looked clean and drove well on initial test drive. I was told it was a private party trade on an Expedition. I asked if it had been damaged or wrecked and was shown a clean Car Fax.
When I got the vehicle home I parked it. Monday morning I had an employee start to install some trailer and two-way radio wiring. He came in complaining about dirt and mud in the harnesses. I went under the truck and it was packed with silt or mud. We had to pull the kick panels and scuff or threshold plates off to run wires. The wire harnesses and channels were full of silt. This prompted us to look further, the truck clearly had been under water at least up to glove box level. All of the readily visible areas were clear and mostly clean, but hidden areas or not so easily accessible areas were covered in silt.
The truck did not want to go in four wheel drive, and there was silt under the boot. There was silt in the kick panels and under the carpet and dash. The back power point was full of silt. They took the truck back and returned my trade, but dealers and the public need to be very careful about flood damaged vehicles. I am posting this to warn people to have vehicles looked at carefully. A clean Car Fax does NOT mean the vehicle has not had a major problem. It is possible to clean up a vehicle and push it along through the market chain without a bad Car Fax. The dealer was good with me, they returned my trade and cancelled the sale and apologized. I sincerely believe, other than the fib about where the vehicle came from, they were unaware it was a flood car. This deal cost me a day or two of work, but it could have cost me many thousands of dollars. Do not depend on salesmen or dealerships to know or tell you where a vehicle really came from, or for them to verify the vehicle is good. I have no animosity toward the dealership, but this is sure a life lesson for me and others.
I worked with Jan from Carvana- she was able to explain to me the process, make sure I was comfortable with where it was at, was able to be reached and kept communication open. The pick up process went smoothly and I was able to sell my car without any glitches.
If you need a car go to woody butts and ask for Kyle or Chris ! They are so serious about their job and they are going to make sure you drive off in a nice affordable car . My credit is HORRIBLE ♀️ But when everyone else says no , WOODY BUTTS SAYS YES ! I drove off with a 2016 Toyota Corolla with only 30,000 miles . I found myself in Macon, Georgia for work in the midst of Hurricane Michael. One morning I left my hotel, intent on getting to the jobsite to continue providing critical backup power for the area hospitals. As I approached my field service truck I noticed with a sunken heart that my window was broken and upon further inspection realized that all of my tools had been stolen and my truck door had also been bent whenever the thief pried it open. I was very distressed of course and after filing the police report and notifying my employer I sought out a dealership to repair my vehicle.
My truck is a Chevrolet product. I could not find a Chevy dealer close to me to drive with broken windows so when I approached the staff at Hutchinson Auto Mall and explained my situation, I was pleasantly surprised to hear they were happy to fix my vehicle. The staff at Hutchinson went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. Not only did they source a window for my vehicle and get it installed the next business day but they treated me extremely well. I am from out of state and now just realizing My whole livelihood had just been stolen. The staff at Hutchinson assured me that they would keep my truck locked inside the dealership overnight while they waited for the window to be delivered and they secured a loaner vehicle for me for the time period they had my truck.
I was very impressed by all of the staff at Hutchinson Auto Mall and I would encourage any person to go there for their vehicle needs. I will also be getting my new vehicle there too.
Steve Stokes was great. Best car buying experience I've ever had. Steve did not use high pressure sales. Listened to what I said and worked a great deal. Knew what my budget was and worked to get me an even better deal way below my budget. The fiance manager was great. Explained everything. Like how they didnt rush but took the time to go over everything. I would recomend Hutchinson and Steve Stokes as your salesman.
I am a customer service rep, and great customer service is IMPORTANT to me! Maurice Maynard went above and beyond to ensure that I received excellent services, before and after my purchase. Thanks
