Traded my 2015 Chevy Silverado V8 5.3, 6 spd, 4x2,
by Retired Skipper from Tucson/ Colorado
May 4, 2019

My Chevy with apex 350 HP V8 4x2 was nearly always in the range of 21 MPG, where my 2018 Ram is running about 19 MPG, but is 5.7, and has 4x4, making it a bit heavier, plus about 50 more HP. The Silverado was quick, but the Ram hauls! Learning to keep my foot out of fast... We make an annual trip of about 1000 miles back and forth to COfrom Tucson AZ, will be interesting to see how it does for MPG on highway. Looked closely at the 19s, but purchased a slightly used 18, saving us about 10,000. Am questioning the wisdom of not getting the19, with latest technology?? Bottom line, darned hard to beat an exceptional truck! My toughest adjustment is the hockey puck transmission selector. I nearly purchased a Ram when I purchased the Silverado, but didn’t like the puck, I was correct, still hate it, lowest part of the truck! I’d pay more to have a traditional gear selector!!

Surprised to get such a good deal on a Mazda3
by PBesong from Snow Shoe, PA

I was looking with my son for a new car for him and we started by looking at a Honda Civic. He was pretty much sold on it, but we were told he couldn't get Apple CarPlay unless we moved up to a higher model of the Civic. So I said let's look at the Toyota Corolla since it's the Civic's equivalent. It drove pretty much the same but neither of us liked the styling as much as the Honda. We were going to go back to the Honda dealership to see if we could take a Civic home for the weekend, but I thought we should stop at the Mazda dealership on the way there to look at a Mazda3. The Mazda3 was about $1000 higher in sticker price, but the deal we got from Blaise Alexander was really good and we both liked the styling and drive of the Mazda3 better. They were also able to upgrade to Apple CarPlay merely by running a software update on the infotainment system. The Mazda3 was better-equipped than either the Honda or Toyota too. It had allow wheels (both the others had hubcaps), a push button start instead of their key starts, and the back seat is a 60/40 split that folds down whereas the others were not split. All in all a better car at a better price.

I have owned 5 GMC Sierra Denali's and really loved those trucks but the 2019 Ram Limited is on a whole other level. The 5.7 is slightly slower than the 6.2 but in every other category the Ram is superior. I am very pleased with this truck.

New dealership experience! FIVE STARS *****
by Barry and Barbara Bidelspach from Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania

Family long time GM buyers. We purchased a new 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid sedan from Bill Reilly in State College at Blaise Alexander Hyundai. I'm a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper who can attest to the quality, comfort and SUPERIOR performance of this vehicle. We are impressed with the 40 MPG plus and the warranty on the Hyundai. A beautiful bright Venetian Red Pearl Sonata Limited was in demand for my wife, Barbara. No problem, they ordered the Venetian Red Pearl Sonata Limited for Barbara! Jada, our miniature "Sheltie" found a second home! Pull the two releases in the trunk and the rear seats fold down. No problem now for our annual trip to Florida to visit our son and family. "Jada" has a master bedroom. There is still a lot of room for our luggage, golf clubs and surprises Barbara may find to and from! Blaise Alexander Hyundai - Mazda is a very professional dealership! My father was a sales manager for a GM dealership while growing up. I served in the military and then the Pennsylvania state Police for 27 years, After retirement, I was a salesman for a GM Dealership in Altoona and helped our children obtain a doctorate and a masters in education. Bill Reilly, sales representative, is one of the most professional/honest persons I ever met! Blaise Alexander Dealership treats every customer with respect and NO PRESSURE! The dealership inventory is one of the largest in Pennsylvania. Ask for "Bill Reilly" at the dealership. Contact Bill at 814-234-2886 or email: breilly@blaisealexander.com PS: Tell "Bill" to put a "SOLD" sign on your new car if he buys you and your wife dinner at one of the great restaurants in State College. Have a good day and enjoy your NEW HYUNDAI OR MAZDA with the great 10 year warranty! Respectfully, Barry Bidelspach PSP Retired

Ed Brown...EXCEPTIONAL salesman!
by Roger and Hope from PA
November 5, 2018

My husband and I had brought our Mazda cx-9 in for a recall. The service department had found a few other things wrong with the vehicle. We talked about a few things and decided to look around. That is when Ed introduced himself. My husband really liked the 2016 Mazda cx-9. Ed gave us all the information about the cx-9. I however, didn't really care for it. I really liked the 2016 cx-5. Again, Ed gave us more information on this vehicle. We were looking at a red with gray/black rims. I said to Ed, "If you had this exact one, but only in white...that is what I'd want." Needless to say, Ed went to their upper parking lot and came down with the exact one I wanted! The 3 of us went on a test drive. He explained all about the engine and the functions. I loved it!!! When we got back to the dealership, my husband decided to see what numbers they could come up with. Ed brought us the information about the payment, APR and trade in. We told him what we needed our payments to be at. A little while later, he came back with the finance information. It all worked out perfectly. We went in and signed some papers. Ed was right there waiting for us when we finished up. He helped us move everything over from our old car to our new one. Then, we all 3 got into the car and he explained every little detail and made sure we understood all of it. He is very knowledgeable. He took his time, answered all of our questions. He never made us feel like we were wasting his time. Most importantly, he was never "pushy". The entire dealership was very friendly. They made you feel welcomed. I must say, we've never had a better experience buying a car from anyone else before. Ed was with us right from the start until the very end. With all that being said, if you're looking for a new/used vehicle, stop in and be sure to ask for Ed Brown! He truly is EXCEPTIONAL!!!

Dealership gave us a more than fair value for our trade ($2K above the book value). Ed Brown was our salesman, he had extensive knowledge on all of the vehicles we had questions about. We dropped a car off for repairs in the morning, spoke to Ed about a new car and returned later that day. Ed made himself available throughout the day, and once we decided on the car we wanted, he completed the sale in a reasonable amount of time - we didn't need to spend all day at the dealership. The financing paperwork was a breeze also. Because of the exceptional trade value coupled with the various incentives and rebates, we walked out with a very good deal.

4WD Hemi 1500. Just returned from trip from north Ala to Lancaster, PA and back. Interstate, highway and local sightseeing. I average 22.4 miles per gallon. I routinely average between 20 and 21 mpg. Truck has a 3.23 rear axle. Performance/ nimbleness is outstanding. Love this truck. Bought last August.

I went to this dealership as referred to by another dealer just to check our the new Hyundai Ioniq hybrid to compare with another vehicle I was considering. Just looking right? Well, looking got me liking alot, then I test drove it and it rode like a dream. Started checking out the specs seriously and though the other offer was VERY tempting, the more I looked at this car, the more I liked it, then fell in love with it and I was hooked and knew this was my car! The staff was very helpful, came outside immediately but was just polite and didn't bug me, but was just there to answer questions and offer to let me come in to find out more. I was cautious, not wanting to get into an unwanted pressure situation, but that did not happen. They were very patient with me, kind, pleasant, answered any and all questions and just let me pace and think and think some more until finally the Ioniq sold itself to me. The staff worked out the numbers offering me a great deal I couldn't resist and had to take them up on. They found every rebate, special sales, etc. to get me just the right price and I would recommend them to anyone! I am very pleased with their salesmanship, their clean and pleasant surroundings and professionalism! I'd rate them a 10!!

Great Truck
by Ledskof from Roswell, GA

The 2019 Ram 1500 crew cab Rebel with air suspension, 12" nav display, and the 5.7 Hemi is pretty nice. Pros: comfort, usb-c that quick charges front and back, easy to use nav system, comfortable ride (with caveats), nice convenience features like rain sensing wipers, etc. Awesome sunroof, great styling inside and out. Oh yeah, easy tailgate. Soft down and easy up. Electronic latch. I know that's low on the list but I sure is nice. Cons: ride is not good in aero suspension setting. Have to turn off that feature. Fuel economy is terrible. Typical 11-13 mpg. If someone says it is higher they are either not using it in traffic or they are lying. The back up emergency braking is jarring and over sensitive to the point of being terrible and unusable. I think the rebel is awesome, and the air suspension is a must. But get nerf bars because waiting for it to raise and lower every time you get out or in is not reasonable. It's not so much a con, but bears mentioning. Reliability is anyone's guess, obviously. It is a strong truck. Transmission shifts very smoothly. In the rebel you lose the 4-wheel auto setting, which is a really nice thing to have. My old ram had it and I got into the habit of using it in the rain when I wasn't hauling anything. I do not like the super luxury trucks typically, but the Rebel trim is a great compromise. You get the rubber floor mats standard, reasonable off road capability (face it that's needed even if you don't go mudding), and while it is indeed a"pretty" truck, it can get down to business without you worrying you are going to scratch your Sunday go to meetin' vehicle. I opted for a drop in bedliner which I personally feel does a better job of protecting against dents. In the end, you don't need my or anyone else's review to decide on a new ram. They are excellent vehicles. Far better fit and finish than any Ford, far better materials and comfort than any Chevy. Not that I'm a religious purist about it, but then again, I bought mine because my last truck was a ram. My next one might or might not be. For now, they are a clear winner.

Don't Get Sucked in by the Good Looks
by DrGlockman from Montgomery County, MD
May 3, 2019

The all new 2019 Ram 1500 is beautifully designed and engineered as long as you are wanting to spend $58,000 on a piece of yard art. I hope that you enjoy spend a lot of time at your local dealership where you purchased it because it will either be sitting in your yard or at the dealership. I purchased mine on 1/18/19 which was the day the problems began. I noticed a damaged trim piece and I called it to the salespersons attention who in turn got the body shop manager involved. They said they would take care of the issue. When we went to sign the papers no we owe for the trim piece. Oh yeah, I forgot about that, after reminding them the paperwork was filled out. Well, it only took 3 times of ordering the part and trips to the dealer to get the proper piece put on. No big deal, its installed. The real problems started six days after I purchased the truck. Here comes the first recall in the mail. This one has to do with an intermittent steering failure due to a faulty ground connection. No parts in stock. Have to order it. Parts comes in, I have to take it back to have the work performed. Then almost 30 days later here comes the second recall notice in the mail. This one was for the brake pedal that could possibly fall off if you use the adjustable pedals. Again, no parts in stock. Have to order and be put on a waiting list. After several calls to FCA, and being hung up on one of those times, I was told that the repair parts were being issued to dealers in limited quantities. Can’t slow down production to take care of current customer issues, now can we? FCA advised me in the meantime, just don’t use the adjustable pedals. Of course, I already had, and the vehicle will be safe to drive. I don’t know about you but I’m not willing to risk driving a vehicle that the brake pedal could possibly fall off of because a customer service rep from FCA tells me it’s safe. I still haven’t been able to figure out how intermittent steering loss and the possibly of your brake pedal falling off is safe but I digress. FCA did give me four free oil changes for my trouble. SCORE!!! Then the front brakes would squeal terribly during stopping. Apparently, this is a known issue as there is a service bulletin on the condition. The solution, replace both front brake calipers and pads. That’s right, all new front brakes. Mind you there are only 2300 miles on the truck. Most of which was going to and from the dealer. The other issue is the speed adjustable volume can barely be heard at all. Why is the volume adjustment inadequate you ask? The reason the service advisor gave me was because the active noise control module is interfering with the speed adjustable volume. FCA has designed two systems that interfere with each other and installed them on a vehicle. The current solution to this? Use the steering wheel controls to adjust the volume. Service said they tested other 2019 Ram’s on the lot and they all display the same condition so it’s not really a problem. By that logic if every engine explodes at 5000 miles then it’s not really a problem because hey, they all do it. I spent an extra $4,595.00 for the level 2 equipment group and another $1,095.00 for the 12-inch display and this is the answer I get. Completely unacceptable. I have been buying Dodge Ram’s since 2001, which is still on the road, and this by far is the worst Ram I have ever purchased. Three months in with these many issues I don’t want to think of what is next. If you are in need of a new truck now, stay as far away from the Ram as possible. I should have gone with my gut feeling and spent the extra money and bought the Ford. Save yourself a lot of time and trouble and buy something else. Time to see if I can get FCA to hang up on me again.
