Go Cart for the roads
by QQureshi from Allentown, PA

My friend bought this car recently, a 93 MR2 NA. I test drove it and found it absolutely amazing. The car, even though not powerful, pulls really nicely and even though weighs 2600lbs, hides it very well. This is the first Mid Engine car I have driven and you absolutely feel the difference. The car just feels like you are driving a go cart. It is very nimble, almost no body roll, and yes I have heard about the "Snap Oversteer" but that's a physical aspect of any Mid Engine car, and if you know the limits, it really surprises you being how good it is. The interior is really good for the year, exterior.. Three words, Pop-up headlights! The thing looks like a small NSX which is one of the most beautiful cars ever. If you're looking for a weekend/track car, this is the car for you. And if you can put up with the slightly harsher ride, it can absolutely be your daily!

My salesperson, Eric C., is the best. He always goes out of his way to help me, even if it's his day off. I travel over 1 hour to get to the dealership, so that shows you how much I trust them. (There is a Ford dealer less than 10 minutes from my house.) I also have been going there for 14 years. They know how to treat their customers right, and I'm a single woman.

I just bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT. I got a great truck at a great price. You cant beat the service you receive at Barry's. I felt welcomed from my first phone call until I left the parking lot with my truck. My saleswoman Suzanne was great. She was a big part in making me feel at home and comfortable. She answered every question I had and with honesty. She is very easy to talk to and isn't pushy. So if you are looking for a new vehicle or RV go see Suzanne at Barry's Auto.

Easy on the eyes, pure joy to drive, stops and turns in apparent defiance of the laws of physics. Not suprised that it goes fast well, but that it goes slow so well, it can be in fifth gear at 1500 rpm and will pull to the redline, no shifting, with no complaints. Worst milage 31, best so far 40mpg. Top goes up and down so fast and easy its almost automatic. Only one addition I would make and that is a 6th gear for interstate crusing, put the rpms at say 26-2700 at 70 mph unstead of 3500. Plan to keep this a long time.

Alex Stewart, was my advisor. He was polite, knowledgeable, and totally listened to my questions and inquiries. After service was completed, sat with me and explained what was done. I am very happy with St. Charles Toyota, and the quality of personnel. When I called to make the service appt. I was greeted by Kyle Lindquist, who was very efficient and professional in handling my request to my liking. I also needed to have my Bluetooth activated at my March 23, 2016 visit. Thrisha, helped me and guided me thru all the steps with much patience. All in all my visit yesterday went well, and I am completely satisfied.

Don't test drive a '90s MR2 turbo unless you want to own one. If it's in good condition you won't be able to stop thinking about it until it's in your driveway. Then you'll find yourself peeking through the blinds at night just to get another look before bed. The only comparable cars come from Italy and cost 5-10x more.

most fun car I've ever owned
by sports car enthusiast from Wyoming

I love convertibles. There is something about being able to drive a car with the top down that just thrills me. My first convertible was a 1972 VW Karmen volkswagen super beetle. I loved that car. It was pure fun. My husband bought a Porsche Boxter a few years ago and that is a fun car as well. But it wasn't mine. I wanted my own convertible sports car. So I test drove a few, including a Solstice. I fell in love with the Toyota MR2. It just felt good to drive. It was like we belonged together. I bought it this past autumn and even got to put the top down a few times. I like driving it even with the top up. But I am really looking forward to spring and summer. It's not a car you want as an only driver as it doesn't have any cargo room really. I took the spare tire out so I can do small grocery shopping trips. This is my fun car. I still keep my Dodge Intrepid for road trips and bigger shopping trips. I'm happy with my little car. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun little car to drive. And it's a Toyota so it's very well made.

We recently traded in two vehicles and leased a new one from Jim Browne Pasco Chevrolet in Dade City, Fl. Our purchasing experience couldn't have been better. At every step of the way, the people we dealt with were knowledgeable and extremely professional. Particularly impressive was the support the entire dealership team gave each other to make sure that our experience was good. Our salesman, finance person, service manager and general manager all deserve credit for making our purchase enjoyable. We will highly recommend this establishment and their staff and we will be back for our next auto purchase.

What is it? Where is the motor?
by MR2 Lover from South Dakota

This is not the fastest car I have owned or driven, but is the best handling and most fun to drive. The manual top takes only a few seconds to unlatch and open or shut. The sequential manual transmission works great and shifts with either steering wheel buttons or on the floor stick. The car is always rev matching on the down shifts and up shifts so you can leave your foot on the gas and go. Cruise control is only available with sequential manual, not with the 5-speed or 6-speed manual. Reliability is unbeleivable. My car is a red with black leather interior 2002 that has only needed oil changes and a new set of tires over the years. Only 24,000 miles it truly looks and runs like new showing no signs of wear. These cars will run forever and the maintenance/repairs are cheap compared to most comparable convertibles. People will positively comment when driving this car. People are surprised that it's a Toyota and that the Motor is in the back, with a storage compartment under the hood and behind the front seats. If you want a reliable, fun to drive sports car that is low maintenance, and the best bang for your buck, then get an MR2. You will love it!!! If you have some winding mountain roads that you can enjoy with the top down, then you will know what true happiness is.

Excellent Driver's Car
by Car lover from Minneapolis from Minneapolis, MN

I bought a 2002 (with good pre-cats) with 19K miles last week. I LOVE THIS CAR!! I have owned several driver's cars (99 Miata 10AE supercharged, 94 Supra Twin Turbo, C6 Vette convertible all either new or less than 2 years old) yet this 10 year old underpowered, bug-eyed car with no trunk and only 5 speeds makes me happiest while driving. The driving skill that it takes to get the most out of the Corolla-based engine while carving corners is a pleasure for me. Now I can experience the agility of a light mid-engined car for less that $13K. I want the new 2013 Boxster but will happily wait for a used one in the next couple years now that I have the Spyder. My daily driver is a Lexus LS600HL which is the other end of the spectrum and I love them both!!

Great Car for the Money!
by RJK from
December 3, 2010
4
I've owned my car for 6 years. It was purchased solely as a toy and has been an extreme pleasure to own. After reading numerous professional evaluations of the car, the only consistant knock was that Toyota made it just a little faster than the Miata. It was a pleasure to drive in its stock form, but after a date with a professional tuning outfit, mine is just amazing. Fast and handles better than anything I have ever driven, Porche included. It handles curves like it is super-glued to the road and it literally breaks on a dime. For a small car, it is amazingly comfortable once positioned in your seat, but if you are a little larger, it helps to be moderately flexible while entering and exiting the car. This is not a utility vehicle, there is little space for anything but the enjoyment of the driving experience. Affordable to both drive and maintain it is fairly unique in this regard. The stock version is exciting, with a little tuning of the 1ZZ motor, this vehicle outperforms cars that cost 3 or 4 times as much. Highly recommended!

I sent off an email, asking about a specific vehicle that I believed would meet my needs. In speaking with the Internet salesman, I told him what I was looking to do with the vehicle . He was honest and forth coming with some details that made my decision not to purchase that vehicle from him. He could have done what many other salesmen do and make the car sound appealing so I would come in. The drive is about 3.5 hours 1 way for me. I will be buying a car from these guys one day! I truly appreciate their honesty even when it meant they're not selling a car to me that day. Thank you so much!

My entry into the world of the roadster.
by KG from omaha, ne
August 14, 2016

So, I've reached that age, and hairline where all good men decide to buy a roadster. I started my search with the MR2. After having a 4Runner (the mule) for many years, I am convinced that the Toyota reliability is no myth. However, I was tempted to go the Boxster, Z3, Z4 path. After having a Z4 fall off of the market before I could get out to see it, I began looking back at that MR2 that started my search. I called the owner, and arranged the test drive. Then I bought it on sight. Sure there are more powerful roadsters, but it isn't about that. It is about fun. This is one fun little car. It is remarkably comfortable as well. I'm not sure how, but the seats are road trip worthy, and leg room is ample. You don't feel confined. I will say that there is no dignified way of getting into or out of the vehicle. Then again, as a middle aged, bald, white guy - dignity isn't my first concern. Anyway, if you have the opportunity to buy one of these, you really should. It is just a fun piece of solid engineering.

LOVED this car!
by DeereDee from Syracuse, NY
May 11, 2018

Bought mine brand new, and sadly had accidents due to the car not being seen by other vehicles. I would not choose silver again as it blends in too well with the road (and sits low, so not a good combination). So much fun to drive, excellent performance, great gas mileage, and the convertible with manual transmission feels so sporty that it seems it must be sinful. After being hit, and the insurance company spent a lot to repair it, it never really handled the same. High speeds get lift on the front end and you must be competent to drive this car like it was meant to be driven, though for someone wanting a Porsche (without the skills to shift one), this is your dream car. Takes a little more skill than an old bug, but you feel just as comfortable as in a much higher priced sports car for a fraction of a cost. The liquid engine mounts allow extra safety in a rear end collision (not to be mistaken as equal to the class competition, which in my mind has no competition in that class!). You can't over pack for a trip in this car, but from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, or a similar adventure, this is the perfect ride. If you are over 6' tall, you probably want a bigger car - unless you like driving with the top down and your sunglasses above the windshield!

DOUGS MAZDA Lynnwood Dealer is the BEST in Seattle This is mine dealership FOREVER. I love going to that dealership everybody knows me there. HI MR Tay. 5 STAR A+ I think the reason why I thought the dealership was good because of the owner Jon Ikegami, he was really friendly and helped with all my needs. he knew exactly what I was looking for and build the car for me. He is a very bright person. The best experience I've ever had buying a vehicle. Jon Ikegami really cares about helping me and getting you into the vehicle I like same goes for financing Jon Seely is EXCEPTIONAL in what he does also. Customer service from my initial contact to final preparations. HE IS THE BEST financial guys I ever met. Mac McAfee hands-down the best sales internet manager, Customer service is exceptional (Mac McAfee) I have been using this dealership for new car for many years. Mac provided me with awesome customer delivery of my new vehicle. This guy is amazing and I didn't feel any pressure from. Actually, all the staff at the dealership from the finance person to the sales manager. I would definitely recommend Dougs MAZDA in Lynnwood. This is my too many purchase from them. Thank you Great deal, Fast, easy transaction. Night and day difference. My contract paperwork done in 10-15mins. Not like another dealership you have to wait for hours. I am so happy now I was treated. They are so kind enough let me use the loaner car for every services or anything I needs. they made me feel as if I was in a 5 star hotel. Thank you Jon & Mac. I am really proud to MAZDA forever owner. 2017 MX-5 RF. "I LOVE MY CAR BECAUSE- I love my Bunny. I love seeing the sky and feeling the wind. really fun to drive. an excellent sports car that has a mid engine light format that allows the drive to eek every inch out of the car off road and explore its near limits on public roads. simple to work on. cheap to run as a daily driver gets good gas milage on 87 and is easily modified with bolt ons to increase power. some issues with older engine designs get an 03 or newer to avoid and enjoy

2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder Review
Unbelievable Handling

I have owned the car for 11 years, and every time I drive it, i get a grin on my face. Phenomenal handling and great styling. Amount of storage space is limited, so you have to learn to pack light, but my wife and I have had no issue taking 10 day long trips.
