I do all of my own service. Here are the known issues with the 06 Jetta TDIs:
1.) Cam will wear out even using VW TXT505.01 compliant oil. Do it yourself for $600 or pay dealer $2700. Ours lasted longer than most at 169k.
2.) AC will become intermittent. Do not pay for new AC compressor. Buy new RCV (unloader solenoid valve) it begins to stick over time and time and any AC shop can do it with recharge in 2 hours. Part is $70.
3.)All have a defective wiring harness for air bag under passenger seat - $220 dealer fix
4.) 5 speed manual have a dual mass flywheen that will distort due to the rubber mount between. Vibration and chatter will be symptom. It is a pain to replace by expect it by 180k miles
5.) If you buy one out of a hot area the headliner will recess on the pillars and the dash control buttons if of the black style will be sticky and nasty.
We have had 3() 06' Jetta TDI's as my wife does home health and puts on a lot of miles. First one new then 2 used ones. We have a spare purchased with only 58k miles and ready for when this one dies or gets wrecked.
I recently purchased a classic car for my wife from this dealer. The salesman I dealt with was Garth. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, friendly, straightforward and honest. Our transaction took place over the phone and Garth went out of his way to assist in the purchase and delivery of the vehicle. The vehicle arrived at our home the next day and it EXCEEDED all of our expectations. The gentleman who delivered the car (Jerry) was a sheer delight to talk to. I would highly recommend these folks and will deal will deal with them again in the future.

Not excited about having to put in a new solenoid kit at $900 or new transmission for $3,000. Shop cannot tell me which it needs. Chrysler made transmission. Mine is 2009 VW Routan Van. Shop said this transmission is seen often to need replaced.
Excellent service from Rockey. All the staff are very nice and up front. We are very pleased with our "new" Jeep. We would definitely recommend to our friends

I was first enticed by the sleek look of this hard top convertible & went on to appreciate its smooth drive and easy maneuvering ability. It has a significant miles per gallon rate and I am constantly stopped and told what a good looking car I have!!!
These two guys were incredible! They acknowledge that I was a first time buyer and helped to insure I got the best deal possible in the area. Very friendly and easy to negotiate with, they were genuinely happy for me and my future car experience. B-I-N-G-O!!!

I have never had to worry about mechanical issues with my Jetta. It has run perfectly since the moment I got it. Great gas mileage. Classy and stylish interior. Smooth and zippy. Love it.
Phenomenal dealer. Cars were as advertised. Buying process which is normally painful was made easy and fun by the sales teams knowledge and friendliness. Could not overstate how much I recommend them.
Most Reliable I've owned so far

I purchased sight-unscene; 148,000 miles and all. But the TDI is what sold me, and I'm so far grateful for the purchase. I've already put 3,000 miles on it (only owned for 6-weeks), but no issues so far, and I'm getting 35mpg average (most of my driving is city). Excellent car.
I loved the customer service and the non-pressure of the buying experience. The cars were clean, well maintained, and the ability to fix anything was greatly appreciated. I also appreciated the owner telling us how he gets his cars and his transparency. I would recommend Top Gear to anyone!

Kelly was great. Our second car with her. Things went quickly, she was patient and caring. Seems all the people at Beyer were top of the line.
Kelly has unique insights since she really knows cars well having much service experience before her transition into sales. You can't go wrong.
Great alternative to a small SUV
by TDI Owner from Waukesha, WI

Lots of adjustable cargo space, great fuel economy and 10K mile oil changes give you a great alternative to a small SUV. I got 54 MPG on a mostly highway trip and 45 MPG in all city driving, much better than the EPA MPG rating.
Heading down 11 south, Honda was slip sliding about! Saw the Don Beyer sign and pulled on in for service to advise. Was met by Christina with a smile to my surprise. She got the slead to the service shed for some new tread without much having to be said. It was all so seamless, that I will definetly return when needed! Santa Claus

I recently purchased a 2015 golf Sportwagon TDI, when test driving and looking at the vehicle I never thought I would love it as much as I do. I switched from a 2011 370z. The Sportwagon is great, gas mileage is 44mpg. The back seats fold down and give more space than most vehicles that has come in very handy. The cost of maintenance is very small compared to other European brands. I will have this car for a very long time.
Purchased a 2014 S60 one year ago and unfortunately the battery died. They replaced and all is well, wonderful staff to work with both in sales and in service. Have purchased 5 vehicles at this dealership.
I leased my first Jetta and bought my second.

I enjoyed the comfort and power of the Turbo four, but it was too low for my girlfriend and me. The handling was suberb. Nice car.
They are honest and very down to earth. They will work with you and I never felt pressured for anything. I will definetly come back again for my next car purchase!
Great car, fun to drive and excellent mpg

It is a great car. It's the TDI model so it's diesel which makes it excellent on mpg which is something like 45 mph on the highway. The Turbo gives it very nice HP with great acceleration when you need it, the SEL model also give this Jetta all the "bells and whistles" love the heated leather seats, dual climate control, back up camera, GPS, moon roof, etc all in all its a very nice car the only Con would the engine is a little louder than id like but really not a problem at all, it is a diesel so the engine sounds like micro semi truck engine .

Routine oil change on a Saturday probably took a little longer than usual but the waiting room is comfortable and the personnel very friendly and the car wash was appreciated
Of all the cars I have owned, this is the best one

I have owned quite a few cars in my lifetime. I have fond memories of some, others...not so much. This vehicle does it all. Comfortable, reliable, excellent road feel and handling, unworldly fuel mileage, decent utility. I am currently getting about 46 mpg average with my TDI. It is a pleasure to drive. It is not your grampa’s diesel. This vehicle has more than adequate acceleration. Passing on two lane roads is achieved with confidence. It seems unfettered when asked to do so. For a small vehicle, it has a great deal of interior volume. I am hard pressed to find another car that does it all like this one.

This was a pleasant experience and an overall great purchase. I formally had a golf Tdi that was part of the dieselgate scandal and I sold back because of the unknown after the fix. After driving a car getting 26mpg I was motivated to get back to only filling up half as much and getting the sweet mpg of a Tdi. I choose the Jetta for a change and wow am I happy with the purchase. I had a few issues buying used but Javan and his team did everything they could to make things right above and beyond a typical dealer. I am very satisfied with the service, the product and my mpg avg of 56mpg so far for the first 400 mi. I did my research and ended up here mostly because the inventory, bottom line there are dealers that just want profits and then there are dealers that want customer satisfaction. Beyer VW provided the satisfaction and now have a loyal customer. Thanks guys for all your help.
Greatest Auto I Have Ever Owned!

I love this car. It is easy to get in and out. The sound system is wonderful and easy to operate. Because I have blue tooth, if my iPhone rings, the sound comes straight from the radio. Because I travel for at least two hours at a time, it is necessary to have my phone available and my GPS readable. When I am tired, I can easily switch to automatic control, using the steering wheel. There is plenty of room for my two dogs: The GoldenPyrenees--117 lbs; HuskyHound 65 lbs. My grandkids love driving this car!
The crew at Marlow are honest, reasonable, and easy to get along with. Ron and Rich are the best. Great place to buy a truck.
The Repair Bills are Astronomical
by Volksfan from Marietta, Ga

This is a great family car. I have driven long distances and the 4 kids were comfortable. However, after 90,000 miles things under the hood begin to break. The engine is mounted in such a manner that it is difficult to repair so most of the repair cost is for labor. A tune-up $800.00, replaced heater and hoses $1600.00, catalytic converter $700.00, oil switch to engine $200.00. All of this needed to be done between 90,000 and 120,000 miles. I average 80 miles a day so this has been costly for me.
If your looking for a dealer to purchase from with less stress, Leckner is your "go to" dealership. They have outstanding customer service and do exactly what they say. This was my first Leckner purchase, and I would use this dealership again!!
DO NOT i REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS CAR

The second VW I have owned and I should have learned from the first. I bought it used, low owners and under 100k miles and took it to the mechanic after I brought it because it didn't make the trip home because of the transmission. The mechanic said the turbocharger was dead, the engine was dead, and the transmission was also gone and they all needed to be replaced. All of the repairs would have cost me more than the car. The excact same thing happened to my VW Beetle which was the whole reason behind me buying another car. If you don't believe me do your research, but I would never want someone to go through the headache I just did.
