Vehicle Overview
The front-wheel-drive Lucerne entry-luxury full-size sedan comes with a V-6 in CX and CXL trims and a V-8 in the Super trim level. Competitors include the Toyota Avalon.

New for 2010
New options include 18-inch chrome wheels on the Super, new interior choices on the CXL and three new exterior colors. Bluetooth is also a new option.

Exterior
Buick promotes the Lucerne’s snug body gaps and tight wheel-to-wheel-well relationships. Built on a 115.6-inch wheelbase, the Lucerne measures 203.2 inches long overall, stands 58 inches tall and is 73.8 inches wide.

The Super trim includes special badges, 18-inch aluminum wheels, a specially appointed interior and a grille with bright slats.

  • Waterfall-style grille
  • Chrome portholes reminiscent of old Buicks
  • Super models feature dual exhaust tailpipes and 18-inch wheels
  • CX and CXL models wear 17-inch rims; chrome finish is optional
  • Optional chrome finish on Super’s 18-inch wheels
  • Pearl Frost Tricoat, Light Bronze Metallic and Sand Beige Metallic are new colors

Interior
Seating for either five or six occupants is available on lower trims, but Super versions can only seat five. Second-row legroom is 41 inches. The trunk holds 17.0 cubic feet of cargo.

  • Available eight-way heated driver and front-passenger seats, power lumbar, memory settings and a heated leather steering wheel
  • Six-way power front seats standard
  • Optional touch-screen navigation system and 280-watt nine-speaker audio system (Super)

Under the Hood
The Lucerne sports a 3.9-liter V-6 in the CX and CXL, with a 4.6-liter V-8 in the Super.

  • 292-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 with 288 pounds-feet of torque (Super)
  • 227-hp, 3.9-liter V-6 with 237 pounds-feet of torque (CX, CXL)
  • V-6 is flex-fuel (E85) capable
  • Both engines use four-speed automatic transmission
  • Super models get a recalibrated suspension that Buick says provides better performance

Safety
Six airbags are standard in all Lucernes. Safety features include:

  • Side-impact and side curtain airbags
  • All-disc antilock brakes
  • Optional park assist and electronic stability system

  • Disappointed but still driving.

Bought it used at 30, 000 miles. Had to replace the engine and transmission before 100,000 miles. Not happy. Loved our previous 1999 Buick LaSabre. This 2010 Lucerne, has been disappointing. A/C had to be overhauled too.

  • Have always owned Buick cars. I feel safer.

I like larger cars, have plenty of trunk space to handle my walker too. Also, I don't care about all the fancy options on the newer models. This Lucerne is perfect for my needs.

  • Backseat ablaze

My 2010 Buick Lucerne burst into flames a few nights ago. My 1 year old and 7 year old were sitting in the back seat when the BATTERY that is inside the car underneath the back seat caught fire. I almost didn't get my 1 year old out in time.

  • Worst car ever for electrical

Charged 400 from sideman’s in midland. Towed there twice. Went last time and they said fixed. I drove down road and stalled before 4 miles down road never restarted after that.

  • Consistency, reliability, comfort

This is the fifth consecutive Buick sedan I have owned. My experience is as follows: #1 256k miles, junked because of damages to vehicle. #2 189k miles, car broke in half (road salt) #3 398k miles, transmission and frame rot ie road salt, #4 172k miles, totaled in accident. #5 who knows. Repairs/maintenance average 1,500 per year because I keep everything fixed and maintained.

  • Large roomy car with a few drawbacks.

I really liked my Lucerne at first. Now I am experiencing some interior door handle issues. (apparently common). Also why are the headlight bulbs so hard to change? Pros: trunk room, leg room, smooth ride, and electronic settings option. Cons: broken interior door handle, broken lane departure system and headlight bulbs are difficult to change.

  • Last of the real cars

Easier than a Cadillac to repair. Has American real car feel. Its big as a car, and luxury inside. I wish Gm wouldnt stop making a larger "Buick car" Its a HIghway star and nice enough for a formal meeting.
