The Jaguar F-Type is a luxury sports car that’s offered in coupe and convertible body styles with a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. It seats two and is powered by a standard 296-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. A supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 340 or 380 hp and a supercharged V-8 rated at 550 or 575 hp are available. All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Competitors include the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity is now standard along with front parking sensors. A new Checkered Flag Limited Edition version features special badging, leather and suede interior trim, performance seats, a red center marker at the top of the steering wheel, a black roof and 20-inch gloss-black wheels.
Newly standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto improve the car’s connectivity, and the wide range of engines means there’s likely a powertrain that’s right for you. Available all-wheel drive can help extend the driving season for both coupe and convertible versions.
The F-Type offers good handling, powerful V-8 performance and a comfortable cabin. Rear visibility isn’t great and neither is cabin storage, but if you’re looking for an entertaining sports car, the F-Type is worth a test drive.
