2018 Lexus RX 450hL review: Our expert's take

What it is: The Lexus RX mid-size luxury SUV is available in gas RX 350 or hybrid RX 450h form. There's also a performance-oriented RX 350 F Sport model and long-wheelbase three-row L versions. All use a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, and the RX 450h adds electric motors. The RX 350 is available with front- or all-wheel drive, and the RX 450h is all-wheel-drive-only with an electric motor driving the rear wheels. Competitors include the Cadillac XT5 and Acura MDX.

New gas-only RX 350L and hybrid RX 450hL versions are 4.3 inches longer than the regular RX and have three rows of seats. In addition, Lexus' Enform safety and service telematics features are now complimentary for 10 years instead of one.

The first car I've ever loved

I love how the car drives, the quality of the materials and design, the service I get with Lexus overall. It's the only car in my life that I have owed, that I absolutely love. I have had the car 2 years now, absolutely zero mechnical, electrical or other problems. Not one repair has been required other than normal maintenance. The one thing that would be nice would be for Lexus to integrate android/apple auto software. Such a huge opportuity for them as their apps are clunky.

Excellent combination of style, safety & luxury

Lexus maintains their reputation for style, comfort, reliability and luxury. This vehicle is spacious, drives smoothly, and is packed with safety features to make the driver and passengers feel secured! The power-folding third row adds to the convenience of utilizing the additional space, along with the touchless power rear lift. Waving my hand across the emblem to open the rear made it quite convenient when loading the vehicle. The AWD and additional cold weather package also added to the vehicle's reliability in Winter months.

After being referred to Putnam Lexus and not so good of a service I went to Serramonte Lexus with amazing customer service from Steve Bailey and I was able to buy my RX 450 HL
