  • Risky buy

Bought this adorable 2007 sc430 with 81,000 miles for 20,000. It looks totally fab. It always drove “rough”. That’s the best word I can think of because it’s the total opposite of “smooth”. I’ve taken it in for this issue but no one seemed to agree with me that something was amiss. But the worst of it was yet to come. A year and 6,000 miles later, the top wouldn’t come up. I took it to a Lexus dealer thinking it was a simple fuse, etc. Ha! I was told the hinge was bent and it also needed a new gear assembly. Cost? $8,800. Yep. Cause? “Too impact damage” even though the car fax showed one owner with no accidents. That was 09/21. I declined the repairs at that price and sought out other options. However, cannot find anyone to fix it without buying the entire hinge assembly. So now I get to find out how much the estimate of $8,800 in 09/21 will cost me in 04/22 with this lovely inflation we are living in. Cannot drive it without fixing because top not even completely down. Cannot sell it like this. A beautiful car, but very risky convertible top that could cost you half the total price of the car to fix if it no longer functions properly. And still a rough ride. Better luck to everyone else who owns one.

  • The Coolest Luxury Sports Car Ever

This is my second SC430. Happily I returned to my senses and bought a newer version with very low miles. The 6 speed transmission is a great improvement. The engine has so much power it begs to run in the lowest rpm possible. This is a good thing. While not an automotive engineer I expect this drivetrain is good for 500,000 miles or more. At 60 mph the tach shows 1800 rpms, practically a fast idle. All the cool bells and whistles from a time ago but how is that bad? I switched the oem wheels for custom 20in chrome and low profile Toyo tires. Looks very cool and rides great. Hardly a trip anywhere doesn’t find somebody asking if I want to sell it. I see prices for low mileage good condition models escalating a bit and will probably continue. If you have one, don’t sell it. If you don’t have one, get one.

  • Best purchase I ever made. . .

I bought a Black 07 SC430 with the Camel interior. It is completely impractical and absolutely the best purchase I have ever made. The reliability of Lexus is bulletproof and after swapping the run flat tires for some Continentals, the ride has been whisper quiet and smooth like butter. There is enough room for groceries or small luggage with the top up or down, but my six foot two inch frame requires the driver seat to be pushed all the way backwards. Make no mistake, this is a two seater whip. I average 22 mpg in everyday driving and a wireless Bluetooth cassette device makes playing tunes through the outstanding Mark Levinson stereo a breeze. Buy one, you’ll love it and the styling still turns heads and gains compliments.

  • A very well thought out and designed sport luxry c

It's a dream to drive like floating on land. I wish I could have been able to buy one when they first came out. Alltho my 2007 SC pebble beach only has 65,xxx miles on it, I consider it's only broke in. These cars are made like a tank and will last for many, many miles. Looking forward to this summer and maybe a route 66 trip who knows. I'm just going to enjoy myself.

  • The Lexus SC430 is a terrific, fun car

Found this car on cars.com when I was shopping for a newer Audi A5 convertible. The Audi's I was considering were pricey, I couldn't justify the cost - you can buy low miles SC430s at a more reasonable cost, and they are worth every penny. It's handsome, sleek and fast, but not crazy fast. The small block V-8 has a throaty rumble that is very satisfying. It looks great with the top up, but more so during top-down driving. The only real drawbacks are that when the top is down, trunk storage evaporates and the rear seat is merely for show. But everything else is pure Lexus luxury and the car is solidly built and incredibly reliable. Very happy with it.
