Risky buy
Bought this adorable 2007 sc430 with 81,000 miles for 20,000. It looks totally fab. It always drove “rough”. That’s the best word I can think of because it’s the total opposite of “smooth”. I’ve taken it in for this issue but no one seemed to agree with me that something was amiss. But the worst of it was yet to come. A year and 6,000 miles later, the top wouldn’t come up. I took it to a Lexus dealer thinking it was a simple fuse, etc. Ha! I was told the hinge was bent and it also needed a new gear assembly. Cost? $8,800. Yep. Cause? “Too impact damage” even though the car fax showed one owner with no accidents. That was 09/21. I declined the repairs at that price and sought out other options. However, cannot find anyone to fix it without buying the entire hinge assembly. So now I get to find out how much the estimate of $8,800 in 09/21 will cost me in 04/22 with this lovely inflation we are living in. Cannot drive it without fixing because top not even completely down. Cannot sell it like this. A beautiful car, but very risky convertible top that could cost you half the total price of the car to fix if it no longer functions properly. And still a rough ride. Better luck to everyone else who owns one.
Neverending Style Dependable best friend of mine ♥
Very smooth V8 engine/transmission, faster than most cars, the interior is perfect for me 6ft tall, sound system has some deep bass, I would marry my sc430 and I believe my sc430 would get the "Will" built to last, til deff du us
The Coolest Luxury Sports Car Ever
This is my second SC430. Happily I returned to my senses and bought a newer version with very low miles. The 6 speed transmission is a great improvement. The engine has so much power it begs to run in the lowest rpm possible. This is a good thing. While not an automotive engineer I expect this drivetrain is good for 500,000 miles or more. At 60 mph the tach shows 1800 rpms, practically a fast idle. All the cool bells and whistles from a time ago but how is that bad? I switched the oem wheels for custom 20in chrome and low profile Toyo tires. Looks very cool and rides great. Hardly a trip anywhere doesn’t find somebody asking if I want to sell it. I see prices for low mileage good condition models escalating a bit and will probably continue. If you have one, don’t sell it. If you don’t have one, get one.
