Best Sequoia I have owned

I am a fan of Toyotas and this new Sequoia hits all the buttons for style performance & technology yeah it’s a little pricey but compared to the other big SUVs in the market, I think it’s reasonable.

2024 Toyota Sequoia review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia?

The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size three-row SUV with seating for seven or eight people. The lone powertrain is a 437-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission; this engine is optional in the Tundra pickup truck, which shares its platform with the Sequoia. Rear- and four-wheel drive are offered on all trim levels save the off-road-oriented TRD Pro, which comes standard with 4WD. The Sequoia competes against rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon and Jeep Wagoneer.

What’s New on the 2024 Toyota Sequoia?

The Sequoia was completely redesigned for the 2023 model year, and it receives a couple of notable additions for 2024, including a Nightshade appearance package that’s available on the Limited trim; it adds 20-inch black wheels and blacked-out exterior trim pieces. A TRD Off-Road Package is now available on the 4WD Platinum trim, bringing an all-terrain suspension with Bilstein shocks, an underbody skid plate, a locking rear differential, crawl control and hill descent control.

What Features in the 2024 Toyota Sequoia Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Second- and third-row bench seats
  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Navigation
  • Satellite radio
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Eight-speaker stereo
  • Heated front seats
  • Moonroof
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Blind spot warning
  • Lane departure steering assist
  • Rear cross-traffic warning
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Adaptive cruise control

Available features include:

  • All-terrain suspension
  • Underbody skid plate
  • Hill descent control
  • Crawl control
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Power-folding third row
  • Digital rearview mirror
  • Wireless device charging
  • Load-leveling rear air suspension
  • Leather upholstery
  • Power-retractable running boards

Should I Buy the 2024 Toyota Sequoia?

The Sequoia boasts a powerful engine, a long list of standard features and the build quality expected of a Toyota, but it also suffers from several stumbles that give rivals such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition an advantage. The Sequoia’s third row is cramped for adults, and cargo space is subpar for the class when it’s occupied. Even with the third row folded, there’s less cargo volume than you’ll find in rival full-size SUVs. Even more awkward is that folding the third row doesn’t create a flat cargo floor, due to the packaging requirements for the hybrid powertrain and solid rear axle. Also, our observed fuel economy with the Sequoia’s hybrid turbo V-6 was only marginally better than a number of its competitors.
