Currahee MotorsReviews
2016 Ford Explorer review
2016 Platinum. Nice SUV, comfortable, very powerful, decent fuel economy, fair build quality, but there are some things to be aware of; the AWD models have a PTU (power transfer unit) which sends power to the rear wheels. It is positioned very close to the exhaust, and the heat generated by the turbochargers literally cooks the gear oil in the PTU, causing it to fail. The unit only holds about a quart of oil, and is NOT serviced or checked, even when you have the vehicle serviced at the dealer. We had trouble with the front camera, and the recirculation actuator on the climate control. If you are considering a used Explorer, I highly recommend buying the best warranty you can! The only complaint I have is the road noise. On new pavement, it's quiet, but on all other roads it's VERY loud inside!

Friendly dependable service with quality GM parts and quality lubricants. The service scheduler that I Always use is very knowledgeable and always accurate in the details he, Chase, provides. I would give him 6 stars.
2022 Ford Explorer review
I purchased the 2022 Timberline preowned about 1 month ago with appx 50k miles on it. I was disappointed that it does not have memory seats or a garage door remote button. (I didn't even notice this when test driving it). Who makes a car today with all the tech this car has and leaves off these 2 things! The interior is comfortable & well laid out. The ride is smooth & quiet. 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder is quiet & has amazing power. At idle it’s hard to tell that the engine is even running. The prior owner put on Michelin tires which contribute to the smooth, quiet ride. The seats are ActiveX (Ford’s name for vinyl) with cloth inserts. I’m 5’ 10” and 175lbs. My son who rode with me is 6’ 3” and 250lbs. Both of us found the seats comfortable & supportive on our 1st road trip. I’ve driven a Kia Telluride, which is a direct competitor. The Kia has a little more tech but I found the ride to be on the harsh side, especially in the second row. This may be attributable to the low profile 21” tires. The Timberline has 18” balloon tires which I much prefer. 2 weeks after purchasing it I made a 2,200-mile road trip from Dallas TX to Orgon. Fuel mileage ranged from 21 to 28 with an overall average of 24 mpg. *if I don’t drive over 70 mph on the highway the fuel economy goes up to about 32! *these numbers are from the actual miles & gallons of fuel used, not from the dash numbers, which I found are a little optimistic. It has a few bugs that I’ll have to deal with, but it’s a used Ford & not a Lexus. Overall, I'd say I'm very happy with this car & would recommend it.

This has been a great dealership to work with. Great prices and seamless delivery experience. They got me a Raptor R in Shelter Green and delivered it to me 200 miles away and picked up my trade in. Can't say enough good things about their business and their business model.

We loved our new car buying experience with Bobby Howell and the entire staff at Lake Hartwell Chevrolet They had exactly what we wanted and Bobby gave us a deal we couldn’t refuse and made the entire process quick and enjoyable and we couldn’t be happier with our new Traverse RS. Bobby set up our Instar , paired our phones and set up all of our preferences on our new car and that’s over and above service in our book. We just stopped in looking and left with a no pressure delightful experience along with a new car and a new friend. We will only go to Bobby and Lake Hartwell Chevrolet for all of our future car needs Milt and Joan Underwood

I was looking for a very specific truck set up. I had worked with several dealerships over the past year asking them to do searches and see how close they could come. Several were found out of state, none instate. On a whim I called this dealership with the same request. I spoke to Megan Kieth and was advised she would call me back in a few. 5 minutes later I got a return call from her with a description of one she was able to put her hands on. Everything I needed this one had. She was able to answer every question I asked. Put no pressure or sales technique on me which would have most likely sent me on my way. She was willing to work with other suppliers in order to get after market items installed. All this for a cash sale. No game playing about having to set up payment plan etc. I will be back and will refer others. Very professional dealership!

2021 Ford Explorer review
The ford explorer is an outstanding suv. The new design in 2020 is stylish and the rear wheel drive/4 wheel drive option is state of the art. The ecoboost engines are economical and extremely powerful. Ford dealers are everywhere! Ford parts are common and easy to obtain! I looked at the competitors. Front wheel drive is not suitable for trucks in my opinion. The handling of a rear wheel drive vehicle is outstanding. I actually have a 2022 platinum with the 3.0 v6 and this 2021 base with the 2.3 4 cylinder. Happy with each!!!

I love my ST all except for seating. I’m just not a fan of European style seating soo we had an upholstery shop up grade them. Sooo much fun to drive! Great gas mileage considering I’m a lead foot. And when needed you can put a full 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back.

2018 Ford Explorer review
Love this car overall but I have only one complaint. I was putting some boxes in the rear of the car and one of the boxes must have touched the the rear seat folding mechanism as all of a sudden it tried to unfold the seats. If my grandchildren had been sitting there strapped in I hate to think what may have happened!! Wish you had coverage over the mechanism so this wouldn’t happen.

Akins Ford review
We recently purchased an F-350 from Akins Ford in Jefferson, Georgia, and we cannot say enough good things about our experience. This is actually the third truck we have bought from Akins over the years. Our previous salespeople are no longer there, but working with Jessica Jolley for the first time was absolutely wonderful! From the very first moment we met her, she listened closely to exactly what we were looking for. Instead of smothering us with typical sales pressure, she pointed us in the right direction toward the F-350s across the street and let us explore on our own. While we were looking, Jessica proactively checked her inventory system, verified they had the exact truck we wanted, and personally brought the keys right out to us. Her knowledge is incredible—she answered every single question we threw at her without a second of hesitation. The entire sales and paperwork process went incredibly smoothly. To top it all off, working with the finance manager, Noe Ponce, was an absolute pleasure. He has a great personality and made the final steps enjoyable. It is great to know that Akins still has top-tier professionals, and we highly recommend seeing Jessica and Noe!

Wife's car ,working at home not many miles low 20k as of2024 June. Still I wonder about trans fluid because of time. Problem that bugs me is the radio. Static in AM off and on ,and of course the business station 1220am about the market. UGH!! Third lease of explorer, so low in miles ,made it a purchase. 🤞👍

Greene Ford review
I knew exactly what I wanted and did a internet search. I live about 130 miles away for Greene Ford. I found the truck at Greene Ford and did a online inquiry. Within minutes JASON VIEIRA was calling me with details of the truck. As it turned out it was what I was looking for. I had driven several trucks at local dealers and knew I wanted a Ford. I called JASON and said I would be in the next day after work to purchase. That happened to be his day off but he came in. We did all the paperwork over the phone. JASON had the truck full of fuel and thoroughly went over the options and features. I did not get there until almost closing but they were very accommodating and stayed well after closing to make sure I was happy. JASON is GREAT to work with I would recommended JASON and Greene Ford to anyone in the market for a new vehicle. Thanks JASON!

If you’re looking for an easy, stress-free vehicle buying experience, ask for Matthew Mashburn at Atkins Ford! From start to finish, Matthew was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable, answered every question we had, and made the entire process feel effortless. One thing I appreciated most was that he handled about 90% of everything over text, which is my preferred way to communicate. It saved us so much time and made the process incredibly convenient. When it came time to come to the dealership, we were in and out in just an hour and a half. Even though everything moved quickly, Matthew never rushed us or skipped over anything. He made sure we were completely comfortable with our purchase, gave us a thorough demonstration of every feature on our new Expedition, and made sure all of our questions were answered before we left. To top it all off, he even sent our kiddo home with ice cream, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even more memorable. Excellent customer service is hard to find, and Matthew truly went above and beyond. He made us feel valued, respected our time, and delivered one of the best car-buying experiences we’ve ever had. We highly recommend asking for Matthew Mashburn if you’re shopping at Atkins Ford—you won’t be disappointed!

Nick Smith was my sales consultant and he was great through the entire process. Nick was professional, responsive and easy to work with. I recommend Akin Ford and Nick.
2022 Ford Explorer review
I love this vehicle. My 2022 Ford Explorer XLT far exceeds my expectations. Handling is great. Performance is far better than expected. Gas mileage is 26mpg combined average for the 16,500 miles I have on the vehicle so far. The interior fit and finish could be better and the original tires...not holding up very well. The vehicle is comfortable and always a pleasure to drive. I always get compliments on the exterior style. In my opinion, it's one of the better looking SUV's on the road. The rear biased drive train give it superior handling, better than anything I test drove. Chevy, Subaru, or the Kia.

2021 Ford Explorer review
I often drive to the Michigan upper pennisula in the winter. This SUV has never disappointed me. One time I was driving up to Sault Ste Marie early in the morning. The road was slippery with blowing snow. The outside air temp was MINUS 41. i was alone with hardly ever seeing another vehicle. I kept thinking "trust this vehicle" because my life literally depended on it. I had no problems. And everything was on high - the defroster, rear defrost, heated steering wheel, heated seat, radio and keeping my phone charger plugged in. And in case you wonder why I would venture out in these conditions - I was called for jury duty and made it on time !! It has also gotten me out of deep snow.

Started looking for my wife a new car and popped in to look. No hassle at all we test drove some cars and found what we liked and wanted. Trevor Giddins helped us tirelessly with letting us try different cars and colors. After decision was made it was late in the day on a Saturday evening and the team stayed late to get the deal done. great pricing and offer for Trade. I was 100% happy with the team but Trevor made it a very pleasant day. I will be returning next year for a new truck for myself. Thanks Jim Shorkey team and especially Trevor Giddins for going well above the call!!
2020 Ford Explorer review
I recently applied for a car from thrifty auto Sales In Westfield, Massachusetts, I received a call back from Mike. He wasn't a pushy salesman. He just actually was. I still interested in a vehicle which I was I've held off for six months without a car. I took a chance and I AM totally satisfied with the service Mike kept Istrate open and honest and I walked out with a 2021 Toyota Camry. I am very pleased with them. I would recommend them to anyone. I have troubled credit but they still worked with me. Thank you, Mike.

2025 Ford Explorer review
I purchased a 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum with the 3.0 liter 6 cyclinder. The car has lots of power and drives well. It has lots of acceleration and easily pulls a 5000 lb trailer. Things I like about the car: 1. Heated and cooled front massage seats. On a long drive the massage seats are fabulous! 2. Very good radio/sound system 3. Wireless Apple/Android connectivity 4. Lots of cargo space What I dislike: 1. Gas mileage between 19-22 mpg 2. Lane departure system annoying 3. Had a rattle noise in the front of the car at 9000 miles that the dealer could not find. At 11,000 miles, the rattle mysteriously went away. No idea what is going on here. 4. Sometimes when I open the rear hatch, the chime sounds loudly, The next time it does not sound at all. Wish I could just turn it off. ??

Greene Ford review
This is the fifth vehicle that I have purchased from Greene Ford over the last 15 yrs. It's always a good experience. Everyone - sales persons (shout out to Jason Viera, my sales guy on this purchase), business staff and the service department, is always friendly, courteous, helpful and takes the time needed to understand the vehicle and the deal. Go to Greene Ford - you won't be sorry !
2022 Ford Explorer review
I have a 2022 Ford Explorer King Ranch, and I purchased it 13 months ago; this vehicle looks brand new and it is extremely comfortable, stylish, and reliable. I am so glad I purchased this vehicle. I will be sure to remain on top of the recommended maintenance schedule through authorized Ford Service Departments. Make sure you use a collapsable windshield cover to keep direct sunlight off of your dashboard when parked, which in some extreme cases, can make the leather warp or buckle; this is not just associated with Ford, but all automobile manufacturers that have real leather dashboards ~ especially when in super warm climates.

GREAT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. The staff is super friendly. You will not feel like you are being pushed to make a purchase. They respond to all questions with patience
2013 Ford Explorer review
10 years since we bought this vehicle used. It has been awesome, over 110K on the clock; minor problems only. Biggest problems are with brake corrosion caused by very salty roads here. undercarriage corrosion is starting to take its toll. But the vehicle is still good enough we are hesitating to upgrade. Some minor, weird but occasional , electric glitches, mostly self locking. But then, the lack of electronics relative to newer models is a big plus to us. We have now owned this vehicle longer than any other we have ever had. interior issues are with the glove box hinge (plastic and breaks if you are not careful), and elbow rests cracking.

2018 Ford Explorer review
This is my fourth Explorer. I decided in 2018 to order the top-of-the-line Platinum. This vehicle has all the bells and whistles for a person that wants the luxury of one of Fords top models. It has Platinum leather seats that are very comfortable. If you can find today, buy it. It has the 3.5L V6 that has great power on acceleration. You can only buy a V6 now on the 2025 Explorer ST which is a 3.0L. The cost is around $60,000 Loaded.
