We narrowed our car search down to a couple Subaru models, and then used a local, unsanctioned Subaru website to research all the tradeoffs and options. When it came time to snag a specific car, we got quite a range of quotes from Western Washington dealers. Joe Spitz, at Carter Subaru Shoreline, offered a discounted price that was far less than the next lowest quote for the same car. His proposal wasn?t even in the same league as the much higher fixed prices used at some Subaru stores. So we got the exact vehicle package we were seeking, for a model that is in very high demand, and paid a deeply discounted price that made a joke of the ?true? car values listed by the various car buying websites. I have pretty high expectations when I?m about to be parting with a lot of money. Our sales consultant, Joe Spitz, impressed me as the kind of guy who eats, sleeps, and loves the Subaru brand. Joe not only exceeded all my expectations, but he also significantly lessened the amount of money I had to part with :)! His candid and thorough response to my questions, and his use of just the right amount of humor, made the buying process downright enjoyable. He has really earned my respect. I always have a great experience at Tacoma Subaru. Open communication and time and cost estimates are always spot on. This is one of the few dealerships I trust to take my vehicle too, knowing that they aren’t trying to upsell me anything, including air filters! I would ask though that they make it really clear on the phone where I should go for whatever service I need. The salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable, the finance department worked their magic and found financing that fit within my terms, the vehicle was cleaned and looked like new and when I mentioned that I had e-mailed the dealership thru cars.com with no response within 24 hours, both the salesperson and the finance officer jumped on it and contacted the marketing dept to make sure they were aware. I bought a 2004 Pilot a month ago here. My salesman, Tim, knew exactly which loan to submit me for because I had no job and bad credit but a big down payment. He had me financed with no problem in minutes. A few days before I went to Carmax Burbank for a different car but with the same down payment and the saleswoman there did not do the same thing. The car was purchased in 2 hours and I was driving home. I bought the warranty tey offer which is a great bumper to bumper extended through their company. They have a 5 day return policy. I opted to return my car on day 4 to pay for the warranty in cash so as not to finance it at the very high interest rate I bought the car at. The return was also easy and everything was done in less than an hour. A month later now, I have found a few things wrong with this 2004 that seemed to have slipped past their extensive reconditioning program. I took it in with odd complaints a dealer would normally say they couldn't duplicate. They addressed them all and even gave me a loaner SUV for my babies to fit in while I waited the few days for the parts to arrive. GREAT STORE! Great customer service! And there's a play room for the kids! *Avoid the coffee!! It is terrible!!!
2026 Subaru Ascent review
Have had Ascent for 3 weeks. Have learned most of the controls. A couple of the safety features are annoying and have disabled them. Sound system is great! Ride and quietness are wonderful. Handling on mountain roads not quite as good as my 2014 Outback but still very good. Only real gripes are interior side of driver's door has sharp edges which bother my left knee in normal driving position and not as much room for personal glovebox junk as I had in my Outback. Gets overall about 22 mpg.
