2017 New York Auto Show: What You Missed Today

CARS.COM — It’s up to you, New York, New York … to ensure that the 2017 auto-show season goes out with a bang — and so far, things are poppin’ off like Times Square at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Our team reporting from the floor of the 2017 New York International Auto Show saw the sheets pulled off some three-dozen new models on the first day alone.

If you’re the kind of dude who’s just not into the whole brevity thing — as in 2.3 seconds from zero-to-60-mph brief — then you might not have found the ravenously anticipated debut of the 800-plus-horsepower 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to be the highlight of the show. But for unveiling participant Vin Diesel and the rest of the rare-porterhouse-eating world, it was a moment to throw our devil horns up and let better demons prevail.
This year’s show is unsurprisingly heavy on luxury, SUVs and performance models — in the best cases, all three at once, like the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63. Other debuts of particular note include, but are hardly limited to, the 2018 Toyota Sienna minivan, 2018 Subaru Crosstrek SUV and Outback SUV-wannabe wagon, 2018 Audi RS 3 and Lexus LS 500 F Sport high-performance sedans, 2018 Volvo XC60 SUV, 2018 Acura TLX luxury sedan, and 2018 Kia Rio sedan and hatchback, in addition to can’t-miss concepts like the Infiniti QX80 Monograph, Toyota FT-4X and Subaru Ascent SUVs.
