The Cars.com Editorial team just took delivery of a fresh-off-the-boat 2025 Toyota 4Runner hybrid to join our long-term fleet for a year of testing. Why the 4Runner?

Now that we’ve owned our 2024 Kia EV9 for a full year, we have charging and efficiency data from all four seasons.

We’re saying goodbye to our long-term 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk, and it doesn’t seem like anyone on staff is sad to see it go.

Though the winter of 2024-25 turned out to be one of the least snowy on record for our Chicagoland environs, we still had enough of the white stuff to test how the EV9 handles snowy, slushy and icy surfaces.

We took the all-electric ID. Buzz and our EV9 on a cold-weather efficiency test to see how they performed in cold temperatures.

Even though one is a retro-futuristic van and the other is a futuristic SUV, at their core, these EVs are both people movers, so we put them to the test to see which is better.

Our long-term 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk can finally be plugged in again to charge thanks to the remedy for its potential fire-risk recall.
