  • Great Trucks

S10's are great little trucks. Ive owned over 30 in my life, and its the only thing i buy or drive. 4.3L engine is a very good, reliable, strong engine. 2.5L engine is a very good, reliable, fuel efficient engine. Only con I have with any of the trucks is the 2.8L engine. They are very weak and have about same gas mileage as 4.3L engine and power of a 2.5L engine. Ive never had any problems with any of the transmission, seem to be built right.

  • 190,000 and still running

With over 190,000 miles the 1993 ext. cab S10 with a 4.3L V6 has proven itself as a good truck. This truck is now on its third starter, second fuel pump, and second radiator. This truck still starts in zero degree temperatures and makes long 6-hour interstate drives in hot summers and cold winters. This S10 with the Tahoe trip package which includes bucket seats, power windows, power locks, cruise control, and other features makes a good daily driver. The handling of the S10 is great but with a lightweight body and strong V6 the rear end can easily go into tire spin or get really lose on wet roads. Climbing steep wet hills from a dead stop will be next to impossible. Good for doing burnouts and smoking rubber but bad for keeping the rear tires in good shape and you will squeal the tires which can be fun for some but annoying for others. Braking is strong and reliable but the ABS is often not there with the front two locking up when the brakes are hit hard. When pulling a trailer the ride becomes rough really quick but if pulling a light load the S10's tight turning really helps moving it around in tight areas and backing up. Like all vehicles it has problems but non of which sneak up on you. Issues, mostly on start-up, become obvious and if taken care of promptly wont hinder you at all. With the problems that I have encountered with this truck I can't say that I'm disappointed. With the number of miles and driving conditions this truck has been through it has proven to be a great truck which proves that it takes years and miles to see good quality.
