This truck has problems with its DEF. It's been fixed more times than than any car I have ever had. Yet it's broken again. Way to much trouble it has caused !

  • Exceeded my expectations

I bought this truck to pull my 9000 lb travel trailer, which was wearing out a half-ton pickup. The 3500 pulls it very well. Towing mirrors and brake controller are excellent. Where legal I towed with cruise control at 70 mph on I-80 from Cheyenne, WY to the Mississippi River. The truck did not slow or downshift for a hill the entire way. It got 12-15 mpg. There was absolutely no trailer sway, even without an anti-sway hitch. When not towing, the truck averages 23 mpg at 75 mph, with a range of about 600 miles/tankful. You can hear the diesel engine around town but not on the highway. The ride is heavy-duty, as expected, but very comfortable on the highway. The seats are great. The recommended tire pressure is for maximum load. I run 45 psi unloaded without setting off the tire pressure monitor. The truck rides and handles better that way. Anything I don't like? The headlights come on and the radio/GPS switches to night-time display mode in broad daylight depending on sun angle. I can't see the display while wearing dark glasses when it does that. You can't override this behavior. As for reliability I can't say much because I've only driven the truck 20,000 miles. So far, no issues. A major reason I went with GM was the fuel pump. It's worth researching diesel fuel pump lawsuits online.

  • Outstanding truck

This truck was a necessary purchase. As a top end high countey dually, it is highly comfortable. I have not had the chance to move my 15,000 lb fifth wheel yet, so I can't comment on the handling with the trailer. It has been superb with daily driving, with gas mileage as expected from a 1 ton diesel. Received a great purchase price off the lot and staff assistance from Casey Chevrolet.

  • Surprised to find how much I like this truck

I'm not a Chevy guy. But the end of model run deals on the 2019 Silverado made this something I had to check out. It pulls my 10k lb trailer effortlessly which I expected. But it rides better than my 2016 F-250 which I didn't expect from a 1 ton truck. It's very comfortable and with high country trim has all the luxuries I could want. I didn't give it five stars on the exterior because they should have power extending tow mirrors on the highest trim and the switch. I didn't give it four stars on the interior because the switches for things like exhaust brake are a bit out of reach for a shorter driver like my wife. However, those are nit picking and the only things I could find that aren't perfect for what I want in a tow vehicle. Sure the tow rating is less than Ram and Ford, but then again, its rated for 2000lbs more than I would ever tow and probable even more than that as the 5th wheel we'll tow is on 18k lbs. I highly recommend this truck. FYI - I haven't owned it long enough to judge reliability. So far so good, so I gave it 5 stars, but that's based on a few moths of ownership.

  • Love the aggressive look of the diesel

Lots of pulling power, the most leg room I’ve seen in a Chevy. Smoother ride for a 3500 still rough but better then my 07 2500. Very quite cab and updated touchscreen entertainment.

  • 3500 Diesel Long Box Test Drive

We have been in the market for Heavy Duty truck to pull our 5th wheel. We've driven all the major brands and settled into the Chevy 3500 LTZ Long Box not knowing what to expect. The first impression is the truck sits just a bit lower then the other brands. You still need a running board to get in, however, it's just as east to get in and out as it is with our 1/2 ton. Driving the truck was surprisingly easy. It handled well for being as long as it is. I was really surprised how agile and nimble this truck is. I'm coming from a short box crew cab and I felt this truck drove just as easy and was just as easy to park. We went over what I would describe as the rougher roads in our community and it handled the potholes and uneven road with ease. It also maneuvered around the big holes with the ease of well tuned sports car. The features inside the 3500 LTZ are impressive. The big buttons to move the pedals, run the exhaust brake, and turn off and on the traction control are located in a great spot and are perfectly sized. The radio is nicely placed high and center for both the driver and passenger to use. The temperature controls are centrally located and easy to use as well. I like having the brake controller, four wheel drive controls, and lights on the side and up high. When I'll be towing I don't want to be looking for my brake controller and being able to keep my eyes on the road while operating the controller if needed will be extremely helpful. The off center steering didn't bother me at all, in fact I didn't even notice it if I'm being honest. The controls on the steering wheel are located in perfect spots and the buttons are the right size to command what ever the driver needs. The cooled seats are really nice and cool quickly as does the ac! It was hot day on our test drive and having both work together quickly cooled the truck and the seats which will be nice when it's hot out. The long box was a nice surprise, I didn't seek out the long box rather it was the only 3500 they had on the lot and I decided to take it for a spin. I absolutely fell in love with it. The longer length looks intimidating, however, once you're behind the wheel it's hardly any different then a regular box. As long as you're deliberate with your parking you shouldn't have a problem with this truck. The model we drove has the center console and if you don't need the middle seat I'd opt for the console. It's so nice having the extra space for storage and not to mention it looks great! In conclusion the Silverado 3500 HD with the Diesel really surprised me. I've owned both Ram and Ford and I will say I'm jumping ship to Chevrolet. The options, styling, and initial performance really have been both surprising and impressive. For what I need and what we're looking for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 has delivered.
