2020 FIAT 500L review: Our expert's take
What Is the 2020 Fiat 500L?
With four doors and space for five people, the Fiat 500L is significantly larger than the two-door Fiat 500. It’s comparable to the Mini Countryman, and also competes with Mitsubishi’s Outlander Sport and compact hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf.
The 500L comes with front-wheel drive, but its platform is the basis for the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade subcompact SUVs, which are available with all-wheel drive. Available in three trim levels — Pop, Trekking and Lounge — all 500Ls come with a 160-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
What’s New on the 2020 Fiat 500L?
There are no significant changes this year.
What Features in the 2020 Fiat 500L Are Most Important?
The 500L has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, and available convenience features include rear parking sensors. A panoramic moonroof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, heated front seats and navigation are also available.
Should I Buy the 2020 Fiat 500L?
More functional and comfortable than a two-door Fiat 500, the 500L nonetheless lacks any outstanding characteristics or features to set it apart from other small wagons or hatchbacks — or the growing herd of subcompact SUVs.
