What Is the 2020 Ford EcoSport?

The 2020 EcoSport is the smallest SUV in Ford’s lineup. It seats five and offers a choice of two engines: a 123-horsepower, turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder in front-wheel-drive versions and a 166-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder in four-wheel-drive models. Both engines work with a six-speed automatic transmission. Competitors include the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Chevrolet Trax.

What’s New on the 2020 Ford EcoSport?

A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot with a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial is now standard, and the FordPass smartphone app enables remote vehicle locking, starting and locating. The SE trim level gains an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a cargo management system and a map pocket on the back of the front passenger seat.

What Features in the 2020 Ford EcoSport Are Most Important?

Available convenience features include automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the Sync 3 multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity and a Bang & Olufsen premium stereo. Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert is also available.

Should I Buy the 2020 Ford EcoSport?

EcoSport highlights include its tall seating position, simple controls and steering feel, but it also has some significant negative characteristics. These include ride quality on bumpy roads, unrefined powertrains that don’t get great gas mileage and a tight backseat. The subcompact SUV class has added numerous entrants recently, so it’s worth your while to check out the competition to find the one that’s right for you.

  • Love my EEEECOOO

I would just like the first start with I worked for Ford so I will say if you have the 1.0 eco-boost engine there are a lot of issues…. But with that said, I have the 2.0 four-wheel-drive, and it is absolutely an amazing vehicle. Super loaded. I have heated seats sunroof, heated, steering wheel, navigation , lane, keep and more I love the way the trunk opens sideways instead of up! It is very peppy and again as long as you have the 2.0 and not the 1.0 very reliable.

  • Great deal for such a small car

Leased this car for transportation to start new school semester on the Friday before COVID started. Just finished the lease and decided to pay off the balance. Has excellent power and everything is easy to operate. Only 1 small issue and its the limited space for passengers in the back seat. Other than that my local dealer does my service and it runs like a champ.

  • Get a dune buggy

To be fair this is not my car I drive it at work for the municipality I work for. It's horrible on gas average 13.6 mpg. The transmission went out at 28,000 miles, in the shop 2 months. Then, it just cut out on me while turning off a busy street, the people behind me were not happy. In the shop 1 week. 3 weeks later same thing, just cut out on me. In the shop 4 days. 4 weeks later guess what cut out on me again in heavy traffic been in the shop this time 8 days so far. In my opinion this car is a piece of crap, Thank God I'm not paying for it.

  • Favorite car/suv ever

3 cylinder and we love it 1.0 Ecoboost plenty of power cruises out on highway 80 - 100 mph glides down the road like an old time Buick for the folks who say it does not have enough power that is wrong. You have to drive the car the way it was designed. When you take off drop it down to S or hit the gas pedal it will respond!

  • Horrible MPG & acceleration = deal breaker

Was lured into a 2020 ses thanks to all the tech, price and size. Interior wise, for me the seats and position never felt comfortable. The lumbar support creates an odd bend to the seat that never adjusted to a comfortable place. The tech was solid, zero complaints there. The one hang up I could not get past was the size of the tank and actual mpg I was getting in city driving, most of what I do. The absolute highest mpg I achieved in the week and a half I had it was 16. No matter how much I liked any other aspect, this one thing alone was a deal breaker. I could have gotten used to the seating issues with time I think, but looking down at that constant reminder of my current average mpg being so low, no thanks. The other bigger issue is all who have said the car has no power when pressing the gas, we’re correct. I came from 2016 Mazda cx3, so I wasn’t driving anything sporty or powered in comparison. Making turns and pressing the gas to accelerate was always a chore for the car. Considering a more powered much larger suv gets better gas mileage, trading this one back in for a Rav4.

  • Buy used, not new

PROS: fairly good gas mileage - I was getting 31.7 mpg. I liked the connectivity (Bluetooth, Apple, Siri, etc.) and seatwarmers. CONS: it's not very powerful, especially when the a/c is on. I couldn't get the FordPass app to work so I couldn't use the remote start. I even went online to try to figure it out - the Ford website wasn't helpful at all. I think it's way overpriced for what you get, especially since it's a very small car and doesn't have a great profile. Bottom Line: It's a good car for one small person. I wouldn't recommend it if you're tall or have a few kids. I'd also buy one used, not new. The pricing for a new Ecosport is ridiculous.

  • Very Small, Low Power

Absolutely do not reccomend for tall people, blind spots and height of windshield make it pretty difficult to see everything without hunching over. Generally reliable, like the look of the exterior and seats are comfortable though slim. Backseats are tight. Does well enough in winter weather even with all-season tires. Went from a V6 to this car so the way it drives is beyond disapointing by comparison. Lurches hard with quick acceleration and some slowdowns, takes an eternity to get up to speed. Might be the right fit for someone, just not for me!
