    Good bang for the buck

    When my Subaru crapped out, I wanted to buy another Subaru, preferrably a WRX or an STI, but all I could find within my budget were models that had been driven into the ground. So I started thinking outside the box. I wanted a quick car, rust free, well maintained and AWD was a must (winters here can really suck). When I found out about the Taurus FPIS, I was immediately impressed. Decommissioned cruisers were starting to pop up on Kijiji. Dirt cheap, 2 years old, 300+ hp and AWD. So my search began for the "right one". Wasn't long before I ended up finding one. One very short test drive later and it was mine. 5 years later, I still have it and still love it. The only negative thing I would have to say about it, is it's expensive to maintain...like really expensive. Up here in Ottawa, Ontario, the tires are $350 a pop. The water pump job cost me 3 grand. The brake job was $1400. But when it all comes down to it, I suppose $5600 over 5 years isn't that bad...a grand a year to maintain...yeah, it's worth it because this car is a blast to drive. It's big, it's quick and one xxxx of a cruiser on the highway. It just purrs. Let's talk acceleration; if you punch it, it pulls hard, in every gear. There doesn't seem to be a weak spot. It just pulls hard all the way up to the redline, shifts and pulls hard all through the next gear, and so on. To wrap things up here, all I can say is, if you're thinking about getting one, all it'll take is a test drive and you'll probably be owning one too. Cheers!

    In and Out of the Repair Shop

    Our police agency currently utilizes these models and we’ve had them for about a few years now. If you are a police agency shopping around for a vehicle to replace something in your fleet, stay far away from this. 1.) Constant issues with the headlight wiring which causes the headlights to go out. 2.) Code 1 driving is not advised as the transmission might stay in 2nd gear and it will not shift unless you turn the car completely off. 3.) The steering wheel will lock up on you due to some steering wheel error on the dash. 4.) The interior cosmetics easily break. 5.) The A/C and heating system will fail. Please note that these issues happen and the car hasn’t even gotten to 30k miles.

    Scary Fast, Lots of Torque Steer, Huge Trunk

    Ford PIS / Taurus SHO, 365HP TwinTurbo EcoBoost AWD. Scary fast acceleration, being a primarily front wheel drive vehicle that engages the rear wheels when the front wheels slip, the torque steer is almost uncontrollable under heavy acceleration. The gas mileage is terrible no matter how gingerly you treat the gas pedal. Better get a AWD Dodge Charger, accelerates just as fast, but as a primarily rear wheel drive car which engages the front wheels when needed for additional traction, there is no torque steer, and the Hemi V8 gets better gas mileage than the Ford EcoBoost. The Charger trunk is a little smaller, but everything else is better (and Dodge still makes the Hemi Charger!).

    Most reliable car I've owned

    This car met all my needs. It has long leg room. It is very comfortable. The engine and transmission are in great condition. I have used it to transport my family.
