2022 Honda Ridgeline review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline?

The Honda Ridgeline is a five-seat mid-size pickup truck that has more of an emphasis on car-like ride and handling than its rivals. The Ridgeline’s sole engine is a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard across all trim levels. Competitors include the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. You can see how it scored in our Car Seat Check here.

What’s New on the 2022 Honda Ridgeline?

A new paint color, Sonic Gray Pearl, is the only change this year.

  • Remote start
  • Honda Sensing suite of active safety features

Should I Buy the 2022 Honda Ridgeline?

The Ridgeline’s car-like driving manners and lack of customization options make it something of an acquired taste compared with traditional truck rivals, but its crew cab is comfortable and the V-6 drivetrain is smooth and refined. However, it lacks the towing and hauling capability of some other mid-size trucks.

Great Truck - would Highly recommend

I really love driving this truck. It rides and handles like a car but you have a truck when you need it. The only negative I have is it has a lot of wind noise which is annoying.

Great truck but……

Can’t beat this Ridgeline for comfort and amenities. 18k miles and it’s been a pleasure other than two small issues. The CarPlay continuously disconnects and according to the dealer, there is no fix. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s basically useless. Also, wireless charging does not work. It connects but never charges. Same response, no fix at the dealer. Such a great vehicle I would highly recommend but these two issues mar an otherwise nearly perfect truck.

Ridgeline is a great all around vehicle

In retirement, we wanted to get to being a one-car couple. The Ridgeline has been perfect. Rides like a car with great features and still allows you to haul large or bulky items in the bed and tow (we've done both). The dual swing tailgate is great and we use the trunk all the time. Just been a great all in one vehicle.
