Vehicle Overview
The Grand Cherokee is one of Chrysler’s bread-and-butter offerings. It’s a five-seat midsize SUV. Trim levels include Laredo, Limited and high-performance SRT8 models. The Overland model is no longer available. The Grand Cherokee’s competition includes the likes of the Ford Explorer and Toyota 4Runner.

New for 2010
The Grand Cherokee is now available in Laredo, Limited and SRT8 trims only. The Overland trim has been discontinued.

Exterior
The Jeep Grand Cherokee features classic Jeep styling cues, with a seven-slot grille. The grille is body-colored, but an optional chrome grille is available. The standard outside mirrors are heated, and there is the option of auto-dimming, memory mirrors. The SRT8’s exterior features a different front with larger air dams and cooling ducts.

  • Standard body-colored door handles and grille
  • Standard 17-inch aluminum wheels
  • Optional 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheels
  • Optional 18-inch aluminum chrome-clad wheels
  • Optional 20-inch wheels
  • Optional sunroof

Interior
The interior features either a single- or two-tone cabin and a chrome-trimmed instrument cluster. The Grand Cherokee comes standard with cloth seats, but leather and perforated leather are also available. Optional equipment includes heated seats, adjustable pedals, remote start and an auxiliary power outlet.

  • Standard air conditioning, optional dual-zone automatic air conditioning
  • Standard power locks, mirrors and widows
  • Standard eight-way power driver’s seat, optional four-way power passenger seat
  • Standard steering-wheel-mounted audio controls
  • Faux aluminum, wood veneer and real wood trim available
  • Optional hands-free communication system and remote start
  • Optional navigation system
  • SRT8 models feature a distinct interior with accent stitching, carbon-weave aluminum inserts on the dash, and other features

Under the Hood
The Grand Cherokee Laredo and Limited models now have two available powertrains, and both engines pair with a five-speed automatic transmission. The Hemi V-8 applies variable-valve timing and cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy. SRT8 models come with a 420-horsepower, 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 engine that does not offer the cylinder deactivating feature.

Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are offered in Laredo and Limited models, while the SRT8 is available only with four-wheel drive. Hill start assist is also offered and serves to keep the Grand Cherokee from rolling backward on inclines.

  • Standard 210-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 with 235 pounds-feet of torque
  • 357-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with 389 pounds-feet of torque
  • 420-hp, 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 that makes 420 pounds-feet of torque
  • Standard five-speed automatic transmission
  • Rear- or four-wheel drive
  • SRT8 employs SRT-tuned suspension and a lowered ride height

Safety
Safety features include:

  • Standard multi-stage front airbags
  • Standard side curtain airbags for all rows
  • Standard antilock brakes
  • Standard electronic stability system and traction control
  • Standard Smart Key that immobilizes the engine in a theft attempt
  • Optional parking assist and rear backup camera
  • Optional rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps

  • Bought a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cylinder.

Bought a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cylinder. One owner , very clean, well maintained at 91,000 miles. This Jeep drives better than some of the newest suvs I have driven. Previously owed a 2011 with a hemi that I drove til about 220,000 and it was one repair after another. I think the 2010 is much more reliable as long as you maintain it.

  • Still in this SUV after 13+ years

Bought my 2010 JCG Laredo (2WD, 6cyl) in Dec 2009. Low 83k mileage (thanks to work at home) and high years. Still driving it in April 2023 (13+years), and plan to keep it as long as it remains as reliable as it has been. Did all the recommended maintenance, oil changes every 5k miles, ATF, Power steering, Coolant, Differential fluids at the recommended intervals. Never any leaks. This SUV has been more reliable, with less maintenance cost than my 2 previous Japanese cars, which I drove over 11 years each. Don't need 4WD (central NC), 2WD drives confidently in the worst rainstorms- sits up high. Michelin LTX M/S tires make it ride smooth. Only non-routine issue was a window regulator at about 6 yrs, and replaced the wiper interior stalk at 12 years. Otherwise this has been a steady, confident, super reliable ride. Paint is still glossy even though it is not garaged (have it detailed 1-2x a year). Much better paint than the Toyota and Mazda I had. 2010 was a really good year for the JGC, more reliable than the post 2011 redesign. I wish they still made cars to last. Too much plastic in the engine compartments these days, glitchy electronics. This 2010 was low tech, but that's fine because I loved the SXM radio with good sound and quiet cabin, and use my phone (audio) for directions.. Don't need car connect. We'll see if she goes to 20 years.

  • Brand-loyal and this year (2010) was a GOOD one!

The Jeep GC Laredo 4x4 was the perfect commuting car for our family! I needed it to get me up and over two mountains on the way to work, and then back again, safely and securely each time. 70-miles each day, round-trip, plus vacations and this Jeep stood up to the task. I'd keep driving it if I could, going well beyond the quarter-of-one-million miles mark! Storage is just right for a family of 4, or ample space for you and a friend to go camping or cruising! For parents looking for a SAFE ride for their young drivers, this vehicle is SOLID, great to control, and eats up snow for breakfast, all while keeping the passengers safe and toasty warm (the heat is AMAZING in the winter!) For drivers who love good sound, the stock speakers and radio on this Jeep are no joke - the bass is deep and the sound is on point! Definitely a great vehicle for road trips!

  • This is the fifth Jeep I own. All very reliable.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2010 has most of the options featured in luxury cars. Very comfortable. Smooth ride. Good track on snowy roads. Good gas mileage. Reasonably priced. Average maintenance required.

  • Great SUV for the money

Grand Cherokees are a great value for your money. Tons of power, rugged, great in the snow, extremely reliable, well built, easy to work on, very little maintenance, and they last forever. They look great too.
