Car delivers more than I expected. Two must have options are Technology Package and Driver Assistance Plus - that combination is hard to find. Sport seats are very comfortable. Lack of knobs and buttons is an issue - miss them. There is a huge learning curve transitioning to a touch screen. You must absolutely make use of the BMW "Genius" service. Highway MPG exceeds advertised value.

I test-drove the Tesla Y and the BMW i4. Both had great acceleration and many desirable features. However, the BMW felt more luxurious, higher in overall quality, and newer in design. I have been driving the BMW i4 eDrive 40 for about two weeks. Because I am new to EVs, it took me a while to learn the many features. The dealer process took several hours to explain things and I returned briefly several times to request further explanation on specific points. Owners should be conversant with cell phones and computers to use the features. I am still waiting for the QMerit Level Two Charger to be installed but regular 110 Volt house current has been adequate to recharge the car after a normal commute. The car is actually a hatchback, with the trunk being capable of lifting high. The rear seats fold down, so the trunk is quite voluminous. I didn't like the vertical grills at first but they are growing on me and I consider the car beautiful inside and out. It is a pleasure to drive. I am already wedded to electric cars and doubt I'll ever get another ICE car.

The 2023 BMW 530xe PHEV hits the sweet-spot for what I want in a vehicle: 1) with up to 21 e-miles on a full charge I have enjoyed 100% electric driving for almost all my day-to-day trips (in the past year I’ve only filled the gas tank to our 530xe about 3-4 times), 2) Easy road-trips with no interruption to wait-around for my car to charge, just fill the tank with gas and keep going. I’m just not ready to go electric-only because the technology and charging infrastructure just isn’t there (until it’s as quick and easy to get a full electric charge as it is to fill your gas tank (in just 3-5 minutes), I’ll happily enjoy my 530xe PHEV. It’s literally the best of both worlds. Also the 530xe is stylish (I get unsolicited comments often), seats are comfortable on long road-trips and car is sporty to drive. Plus the back seat is comfortable too — often not the case in other vehicles. I’ve throughly enjoyed my 2023 530xe with no mechanical problems or issues.

As a BMW driver for decades (318i, 328i), I reluctantly switched to Tesla when the Model S became the first practical EV. I wanted to drive electric more than I wanted to be loyal to (IMHO) the best line of sedans and coupes on the planet. I loved the S, too, but after 12 years it was having problems, support was rotten, and it was time for a replacement. Fortunately, all the manufacturers have EVs now. Although I test drove several other makes, I was delighted to see that the BMW i4 was my favorite. When it started to look like tariffs were going to increase prices, I abbreviated my search and went for the Bimmer. By chance, the dealer had a 2024 shop loaner available with low mileage and a lower price than a brand new 2025 so I leased it. (Incidentally, it was less expensive in absolute dollars than the Model S was in 2012!) I'm glad I "pulled the trigger" when I did and I love the car. Handling is excellent. It "feels like" a BMW despite slightly lighter steering than my last 328. It's feature-rich and I'm still learning the ancillary controls. I'm OK with CarPlay although Tesla's own infotainment system is better. The driver assist is good and automatic stop/start in heavy traffic is a joy although I still prefer steering myself under better conditions. I think most BMW drivers will feel likewise. I haven't used self-parking other than a demo in the dealer's lot but I promise to try it. I don't expect to need a lot of service - it's an EV - but at least BMW takes phone calls! The cell phone app is better than Tesla's and it's NOT the only way to schedule service. My only real objection is the location of the charge port at right-rear which will make it awkward to use short-corded Tesla Superchargers even once BMW concludes a deal with Tesla. The i4 has more "hard" controls - which I prefer for eyes-on-the-road driving - than Model S but its voice recognition commands are more limited. Its navigator has the same voice as Model S but gives more frequent bum steers. All in all, I'm very glad I made the switch. And I didn't give money to the Little Dictator who works for the Big Dictator!

As fast as my 911 but I can drive it in the winter without special tires. Great suspension, brakes and gas mileage. HK stereo is terrific. Wonderful value. I only wish the sport seats were a bit wider.

It is a great value. Excellent gas mileage and with the twin turbo has plenty of pick up!!! Great computer and dash display. Plenty of back seat and trunck space.

Not the kind of car I expected, but I have been more than happy with it. The 2019 330i xDrive has been safe, efficient, and makes you feel like you are flying in a Boeing 777 or an F-18. It is quieter, meaner, and comfortable for long trips. That being said, some maintenance costs are high, but if you keep it for long run and maintain it thoroughly, it will last long enough.

My x drive diesel gives me 14.5 - 15km per liter which is exceptional and handles like a sports car. Run flats are hard but not an issue. There seems to be a issue with the engine mountings as both x2 cars I had and have, have had to have them replaced with the new design engine mountings. No major issues.

I had screaming scratching sound coming from under the right side of the bottom of my car every time a went over a bump or onto a driveway. I thought my fender was rubbing on the tire. Friday Mar. 6, I emailed Wayne Chan immediately and told him I would be there in one hour. He test drove the car on a Friday at noon, He said leave it and he will provide a loaner. Late Friday I received an email with a photo of a 6-inch screw which had lodged in the undercarriage near the fender and each time it bounced it created the friction sound. Early Monday morning, Wayne texted me and said car is ready for pick up. It is a 2025 550E and Wayne was kind enough not to charge for the testing, repair, or loaner. Thank you BMW Mtn. View. The good features of the 530e definitely outweigh the bad. The positive features include: good performance handling, good looks, and decent technology. The negative qualities are: less trunk space, sketchy fuel economy numbers, less than average battery performance and slower engine-only performance. As a former owner of multiple 5 Series vehicles, this looks similar but its clearly a different car with different body panels. BMW delivered this car with a level 1 portable charger, that charges fully from 0 to full (21 miles) in about 12 hours. A level 2 charger would recharge faster, but is not necessary if overnight charging works for you. Still having fun with this hybrid for now.
