2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT review
I have had weekend cars for some years now. Started with BMW M3 (E46 competition package), moved to Porsche 911 turbo (997.1 with 6-sp), then 2015 Nissan GTR (I truly enjoyed that car) and I am on the 2018 MB AMG GTR now. I drive them only during late Spring, Summer and store them from October to April. I keep them for 2-4 summers, then move on. MB AMG GTR is the next level. It is starting to encroach into exotic car territory. Lots of attention. It is a race focused machine and by far the most uncomfortable sport car I have owned so far. But that is a good thing. Engine is at the moment one of the best in the business. Sounds awesome. It is a tricky car to drive fast so one has to be a bit more careful when compared to Nissan GTR/Porsche 911 turbo or even Porsche 911 GT3. I had a rear light failure within the first 4k miles. Fixed under warranty. Entertainment system is a bit old. In general I would say this car is worth the money.

2009 Volvo C70 review
We bought this car in 2019 after selling our Porsche 944. It is a wonderful car to drive and we've used it on all of our long trips where its just my wife and I driving (we have a 7 passenger car when we take the kids places). Upgrading from the Porsche it's nice to have automatic transmission and cruise control and the car is about as low. Understand that luggage space is limited with the top down so while you can take trips with 3 or 4 people, cargo space is limited if you want to be able to put the top down. Satellite radio is great however the tuner is older so you can't get newer stations like "Road Trip Radio" or anything in the 300's, but its still great not to have to look for a new radio station every 15-20 minutes when driving out in South Dakota or Wyoming and there are plenty of classic rock stations. I purchased a Volvo wind-screen that covers the rear seats and that cuts out the back flow considerably (on the tollway, my wife's long hair would be blowing almost straight forward with the top down over 50mph without the screen but with it, there is little back flow if any). Its a great little fun car and gets good mileage too. I replaced all tires with Pilot 4's. Cigarette lighter is flat facing up so you'll want to cover it because things can fall into it if you don't have a cover on it (been there done that) but makes a great place for a 2 USB plugin charger to keep your phones charged. Overall its a really nice car, and has required little service in the 3 years we purchased it except for oil changes (and replacing tires). We just turned 50k miles on it.

2018 BMW M240 review
Super fun car to drive. Love the B58 engine, tons of power and suuuper smooth. Handling is next level and it just feels it will turn through anything! Everyone I've shown it to totally loves it. The gas mileage is also much better than I was expecting, coming from a tuned VW GTI. I never considered myself a convertible person, but I ended up buying the convertible anyway cause I figured it would be fun. I'm not a huge fan of the seats given this is one step below a full blown M2. They're decently comfortable, but they look awfully boring compared to something like Audi and the quilted leather they use. The one other thing is the soft top has a bit of a squeak, though to be fair I really haven't looked into getting it fixed so it could be super minor. Very much looking forward to more driving!

2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata review
This is my second Miata (first was a 1990), and I love it so much! Retractable hardtop roof is SO convenient!! Love the manual 6 speed for all the pep, and gas mileage is exceptional. I would consider a new one if the traditional, bright red paint and retractable hard top were both available. Since they're not, I'll stick with what I've got and enjoy it many more years!

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray review
On December 10th, 2024, I purchased a red 2015 Corvette Stingray Convertible 3LT from Country Chevrolet in Warrenton, Virginia. I have purchased 26 new and used cars in my life, and I have to say this was by far the best buying experience I have ever had in my life. My first car was a new 1980 Corvette, and I evolved into planning for my last car to be a red corvette convertible. After much research, lots of shopping, and numerous test drives, I found this car listed on-line at Country Chevrolet at a listed price in the range I was looking for. I called and set up a test Drive for the wife and me. We drove up to the dealership and noticed one or two folks outside who immediately said hi, welcomed us to the dealership and went to get the salesman for our test drive. The environment at this dealership was more welcoming than any Chevy dealership I had ever been to. When Kirk Hughes, our sales consultant introduced himself, we could clearly see we had found at great person to work with. Kirk is friendly, professional, and an absolute expert in corvettes and cars in general. Kirk is by far one of the best salesmen I have ever met. I consider myself a car person, as I enjoy buying, selling and talking about cars. I also perform much of the simple maintenance tasks like changing fluids, brakes and normal maintenance items. Kirk is truly knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to talk to. After being at the dealership for a bit, I bumped into Kevin Bearce, another sales consultant and person we knew. He is another unbelievable friendly professional and a true joy to talk to. With sales folks like Kirk and Kevin, I would recommend Country Chevrolet to any and everyone, as they clearly only hire the best of the best. He did not pressure us but let us know he was available if we had any questions. We bought our car 2 days later. So we first went in on Saturday to look around and drove home our mini home the following Tuesday. They put a bow on our car and parked it in the showroom with our name on it. 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF review
At first glance you ask yourself... what did I buy. It looks small and very low to the ground. You manage to get in and start the car. The engine roars to life and it's louder than what you might be used to. The seat hugs your body and you begin to get comfortable. First gear sprints the MX-5 into what feels like a roller coaster ride. It's lively and fun, and you tell yourself... yeah, I can get used to this. 2013 Volkswagen Beetle review
I was initially looking for a used Golf, but the more I looked at the Beetle the more I liked it. When I found the one I ended up buying, it was love at first drive. This little car packs a punch with the 2.0T, and will throw you back in your seat. It’s an absolute blast to drive. Handles well around town and on the interstate, where it could easily get one in trouble since it wants to GO. The same engine as is found in the GTI, so this should be unsurprising. Easily gets 30+mpg on the highway when cruising along, typically around 20-25 city. These cars handle city driving just fine, but they are meant for the freeway in my opinion. I find the interior to be quite luxurious. Heated leather seats (not available in the Golf) with plenty of storage compartments. Not many frills, just a sleek and mostly practical dash. The trunk is big enough for grocery runs, and the rear seats fold forward for larger loads. It’s not going to haul large appliances or furniture, although it could possibly carry some bigger stuff on a roof rack. The Fender audio system is impressive, wouldn’t change a thing about it except it could benefit from an updated head unit with CarPlay. This hasn’t been an issue for me. I think the car is a real looker, it turns heads and has drawn the occasional compliment. My used model had some imperfections, but it’s still a great looking car that I want to look after and keep for as long as I can. It feels well built, the doors close with the satisfying weighty thud of a premium vehicle. Overall, I am very happy with my 2013 beetle. It’s not only fun, but it seems to be reliable with a couple caveats that some owners might not be aware of. The 2.0T engine is designed for premium fuel, using regular will eventually damage it. The 2.5 can run regular, but I believe the 1.8T will also want premium. The reason for this is lower octane fuel will cause detonation in these high compression engines. If you don’t know what detonation is, just know it’s bad. The oil needs changed more regularly than the manufacturer recommended 10k miles. 5k to be safe, 7k at a stretch. This is especially true for higher mileage vehicles. Speaking of stretch, there is a known issue with some 2.0T engines where the timing chain stretches over time and many miles, so if buying used that’s something I’d have a mechanic check out. This is an expensive maintenance item, but IF it’s needed, getting it done along with the tensioner and a new water pump for good measure will ensure that the new to you Beetle is reliable for many years and miles to come. The other issue is carbon build up. Getting it cleaned out is not as spendy as the timing chain but it’s also not a cheap fix. I believe this can largely be avoided by using top tier fuel (it contains detergents that help with this) as well as regular oil changes and some regular spirited driving. Would not recommend this car to someone who mainly does town or city driving, the 2.5 engine might be better suited for that. According to my research, the 2.5 is quite bulletproof BUT it’s not good for any engine to be driven at low RPM all the time.

2014 Ford Mustang review
Under the rear seat it leaked water from the outside when driving in rainy conditions. I upgraded the stereo system and it was better for listening to music on the interstate and hi ways with the top down. I’m hoping to find another car soon.
