2026 Mazda CX-90 review
Not a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes, but it comes reasonably close for the $20-30K savings. Upscale interior, tight handling, fairly quiet ride. I purchased the second from the bottom of the line: Turbo Preferred with the standard 280 hp inline 6 engine. Easily enough power. Negotiated the $45.5 sticker down to $40.5, still expensive but way lower than even the Honda Pilot. Only complaint: 3rd Seat is ONLY FOR KIDS.

2026 Mazda CX-90 review
3.3 Turb Premium Plus The Bottom Line I really want to love this car. It looks sharp on the road, and the dealership/salesperson experience was fantastic. However, living with it daily on a Premium Plus trim has revealed several glaring design and engineering flaws. From severe turbo lag to a center console layout that feels downright poorly thought out, it’s hard to fully recommend this specific setup. PROS Exterior Styling: The car looks great and has a sleek, modern presence. Dealership Experience: The buying process and the salesman were top-notch. CONS Severe Turbo Lag: When you press the gas pedal to the ground, there is a massive delay before the turbo kicks in and the car actually starts moving. It’s completely unresponsive and frustrating when you need immediate power to merge or pull out quickly. I'm ultimately just not a fan of this turbo. Poor Cup Holder Placement: The cup holders are far too small for modern cups. Worse yet, if you aren't incredibly careful when putting a drink into the holder, it is very easy to accidentally knock the shifter straight into Neutral while driving. Awkward Shifter Design: The shifter requires you to notch it over to the side, which is a lot to get used to. Because it doesn't feel fluid, it's far too easy to forget to put the car all the way into Park when getting out. Disappointing Storage: The interior storage is severely lacking. The center console bin is incredibly shallow, and there is almost no hidden storage space underneath the trunk floor panel. Subpar "Premium" Features: For a near-top trim, it’s just not that great. There is no option for an automatic easy-exit seat (where the seat slides back when you turn the car off). Furthermore, there is no remote start on the physical key fob; you are forced to pay a monthly fee for an app subscription just to start your car. Questionable Interior Build Quality: The leather/pleather area right around the door handles moves around a lot. Advice to Buyers If you are looking at the Premium Plus trim expecting a seamless, high-end experience, pay very close attention to the center console layout and the throttle response during your test drive. It has a lot of potential, but the daily quirks are tough to overlook.

2024 Mazda CX-90 review

The AWD works very well, the inline 6 is more than enough power to drive the vehicle fully loaded with luggage and 6 passengers for 4 hour trips. I had a terrific experience buying a new/used car from Mohamad Rahal recently at Jeff Haas Mazda, 16711 Katy Freeway, Houston TX 77094. I had just been burned by two other dealerships that did not hold the car for me until I got to their dealerships to negotiate a purchase of the car I wanted to buy - the 1st dealership I called I said I would be there in +/- 3 hours and the 2nd dealership I called I said I will be there in +/- 20 minutes. When I arrived at both dealerships they both told me they have "bad news and good news". The bad news is they just sold the car I asked them to hold me and the good news is they can sell me another car - at both of these dealerships they were young inexperienced salesman. Mohomad is an experienced professional and has been in the car industry for decades and does business "the old fashioned way". Mohamed held the car for me I wanted to buy until I got all my financing in order to pay cash for the car. Mohamed clearly explained each line item on the "Vehicle Buyer's Order" and also the additional lifetime engine warranty I purchased. The finance department also made doing business efficient and simple. I recommend buying a vehicle from this dealership. Richard B 12.30.2024
2024 Mazda CX-90 review
If you're thinking about the PHEV version of this car, here's my take on it from personal experience: Pros: Quiet Ride: It's super quiet, which is great. Nice Interior: The inside feels fancy and comfortable. Fun to Drive: It handles well and is enjoyable on the road. Middle Row Seats: The bucket seats are comfy and make extra space for stuff. Cons: Short Electric Range: Even though they say it can go 26 miles on electric, I mostly get just 20 miles. And it takes forever (like 13 hours) to charge, sometimes not even fully. The 495 miles of highway that Mazda states seems very lofty and exaggerated Quick to Lose Charge: The battery drains faster than you'd expect. Slow Acceleration: It doesn't pick up speed as quickly as you'd think because of some lag. Wireless Charging Issues: The wireless charger is hit or miss and really slow. Sensor Problems: The car sensors aren't always right. They've mistakenly warned me of cars ahead when there weren't any, which is annoying. Infotainment System: If you've used Mazda systems before, you know they can be a pain. Simple stuff like pausing music or connecting your phone can be frustrating. And you need the most expensive version to get a touchscreen. Final Thoughts: I'm not here to bash the CX90-PHEV. Just want to share what I've found for anyone thinking about getting one. If you're considering it, maybe look into leasing to take advantage of any credits. Overall, it's not a bad car when things work.

2024 Mazda CX-90 review
Purchased the PHEV a little over 1 year ago and put 12K+ miles on it so far, and I like it a lot. Its stylish, quiet and great on gas. I consistently get over 70+ MPG around town and 35+MPG on longer trips. However, I *strongly recommend* the L2 charger as it cuts charging time down to 2.5 hour with 29 miles range. Without it, the L1 charger takes forever. I went with a 30W auto splitter on my dryer plug for under $140 on Amazon. Its amazing! However, even if you switch to gas, the Hybrid system averages 26 MPG with standard driving. My only complaint so far is the connection to Google/Apple play sometimes drops for seemingly no reason 1-2 times a week and the reactive driving can be touchy. Overall, very reliable and fun to drive. I highly recommend.
