2009 GMC Envoy review

2011 Jeep Compass review

2003 GMC Envoy review
Great vehicle. I purchased it at 200,000 miles for $1,500 and I’m still using it at 245,000 miles. I’ve seen a lot of reviews about the engine stalling with no mechanics being able to solve the problem. It’s the catalytic converter. It clogs and the exhaust fumes can’t escape. You can disconnect the exhaust section with the catalytic converter and drive it around to see if that is the problem. I can’t tell you how to fix it but I’ll just say I get 2 mpg more now that I “fixed” it and my Envoy smells like a boat.

2008 Ford Edge review
I bought my 08 ford edge sel used. I did tune up first week of ownership and regular maintenence as scheduled. Always reliable and comfortable. Only complaint is back interior. The light in the trunk was always covered as I always had stuff in trunk and back window did not open separate from trunk door like other suvs. Unfortunately after 7 years and 100000 miles plus from me I became unconscious while driving and destroyed her. She saved me though. Impressive safety in crash. Definitely would buy again

2011 Chevrolet Equinox review
I bought a 2011 Equinox w/2Lt, with the 3.0L VVT. 264 HP engine and 18" wheels. This vehicle was T-boned on the passenger side door with air bag deployed and thus declared totalled by an insurance company from a previous owner. This vehicle was rebuilt and salvage title issued with approximately 38,000 miles on the odometer. This vehicle turned out to be a very good experience so far as I have had some repaint done and I replaced my wheel hubs, brake rotors, calipers and brake pads with high performance parts. With this power plant configuration, I can pull my droptail trailer loaded with 2 cruiser motorcycles to Sturgis with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I change oil every 6 months with under 3,000 miles on the oil. The engine does not use oil. I am a conservative driver and use extra caution while trailering. I added a Curt class IV hitch with no trailer brakes. Trailer payload on the scale is 1900-2200lbs depending on what bikes I decide to take. However, I would not have considered ANY Equinox with the xxx I4 Ecotec Engine. Those engines were built with a batch of bad timing chains from Mexico and GM ended up replacing a boat load of those engine. I am a mechanical engineer.

2003 Cadillac Escalade review
I bought it brand new in 2003. It literally had 6 miles on it. It's April of 2025 and she's still runs like a beast. I have 345,000 miles on her and she can still get all of that 345 horses with ease. Since I've had her I've only had to replace the water pump, fuel pump, and the alternator. She still runs like a dream! That 26 gallon fuel tank will let me go 8 hours non stop in any direction on the highway. I think I'll keep her!

2009 Subaru Forester review
I bought my 2009 forester with 200k on the click. She was well locked after but has a few scratches here and there but paint work is still beautiful. Performance is great but she is heavy on fuel. This is expected from an AWD as the engine is pulling all 4 wheels continuously at the same time. No oil leaks, aircon works well. The only major issue I have had was the thermostat falling. I caused my radiator to crack due to pressure building up. I removed it and she is running perfectly. I live at the coast in South africa so our winter temp never drop below 10° and our summer average at 30°. Overall, I'll will be buying another forester with it's great space and power....love it

2011 BMW X5 review
This is the most underrated gems in the used diesel SUV market—but only if you’re the right kind of owner. Powered by the soon becoming legendary M57 inline-six diesel engine, this version of the E70 X5 combines German engineering with long-haul durability if treated right….and by treated right, I mean ideally maintained by someone who can turn a wrench and not the type of owner who wants to drop it off at the dealership for every noise or light. This vehicle is ideal for the hands-on car enthusiast who appreciates the mechanical integrity of a proper diesel engine and doesn’t mind putting in garage time to keep it in good shape. If you're someone who already loves BMWs and understands their quirks, this vehicle will feel like a rewarding project and a fantastic daily driver in one package. The M57 diesel engine is incredibly robust and becomes one of the best engines only with one huge caveat…the emissions equipment needs to be removed. In fact, I would not recommend owning this vehicle if you don’t plan or cannot do this in your state legally. Once deleted, this engine opens up and delivers a strong blend of torque, horse power and efficiency, making it an excellent tow vehicle. It's perfect for hauling a car trailer, camper, or family gear around without struggle. Stock, it’s already torquey, but with the deletes and a mild tune, this becomes a real beast without sacrificing reliability...and if given a race tune, this thing will hurt other drivers' feelings pulling from stop lights or on the freeway. The chassis overall is “decent” (Being said by a vintage BMW enthusiast, this is very much a compliment to today’s standards), but there are known maintenance pain points that a mechanically inclined owner should be aware of. If you plan to purchase from a used dealership or private seller, you’ll most likely need to do a suspension refresh including replacement of struts, bushings, arms etc.…possibly an engine refresh including valve cover seals, intake manifold cleaning and replacement of other various leaky seals…work on the cooling system including but not limited to replacing lines, hoses, main/expansion coolant tank as these are plastic and will crack and fail due to heat over time. There will be some normal interior wear including the finishes of center console buttons peeling off but are easily replaceable. Something important to note when purchasing is the interior sunroof shade condition, including whether it is completely operable and if there are any signs of sagging/peeling fabric. Any issue with the sunroof should reflect in the price as this item is very intricate, expensive, and difficult to work on. 2009 GMC Acadia review
Bought my 09 a year ago with only 56,000 miles. Haven’t had a single problem yet, besides the sensors in the tires going out. Driven it almost 20,000 miles since then. Regular upkeep is pretty easy and it’s not hard to work on.

2011 Chevrolet Traverse review
2011 and 179,000 miles still running strong. Main repairs, some under warranty Expect your power steering pump to leak. Fixed 2x. 2nd time had to pay to replace new p. steering pump and rack assembly. $1200. Water pump leaked, needed replacing at 80k. $500 Valve cover gaskets leak. Engine runs strong, up to 21mpg highway. Transmission is smooth. Replaced all struts and shocks myself at 120k. ,$400 for all fr Amazon. Replaced all rotors and pads 2x in 179,000. Did myself at home. Rotors are $50 each doe AC Delco Silver ( Made in China) Pads are $60 for all 4 ceramic pads. YouTube has tons of videos on how to do brakes. Tuned up myself with Iridium plugs. Need a special spark plug wrench. Plugs are deep inside engine. Replaced all 6 spark coils myself for $80. Total tune-up with air & pcv filter less than $200. Interior still looks great. Most comfortable seats I've had. Exterior tricoat white pearl paint still glistening. Cooper tires last 75k on this car. Goodyear Fortrera stock tires noisy after 20k. Blowout at 30k. Auto VSC auto stabilze worked perfect. Keep car straight after blowout at 75moh.

2012 Jeep Patriot review
I've had my Patriot for about 3 yrs now. I purchased with 82K on it and am up to 98K. The CVT took a bit to get used to as far as being not very quick when accelerating. I'm used to it now and it keeps me from having a lead foot...lol. Otherwise I've had no major problems and it serves it's purpose and is good in the snow.
