2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen review
We are unabashed fans of station wagons built on sport sedan platforms, and we are distressed to see this best-of-all-worlds configuration disappearing from the US market, even though it remains deservedly popular in Europe. We bought a 2016 Sportwagen one year ago; our other car is a 2001 VW Passat wagon, which we plan to keep running as long as we reasonably can. The Sportwagen excels on fuel efficiency, handles very well, and offers more-than-adequate performance. Although it is almost as large outside as the Passat, it offers noticeably less usable cargo volume, albeit still sufficient for most purposes. Sideward and rearward visibility are better than average, but no match for the Passat wagon, which is almost unbeatable in this category. Styling is elegantly clean, simple, and timeless. We have had no problems yet, and we happily note that the engine has a generous 6 qt. oil capacity, versus the Passat's 3.7 qts., which I expand to 4.25 by using an oversized Mann oil filter. The larger oil capacity should reduce the incidence of infamous oil "sludge" (technically, baked-on coke). German cars offer a superb driving experience, but they need to be maintained fastidiously; they do not thrive on neglect the way a Toyota might.

2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack review
We bought a used 2019 a month ago. I wasn't aware of these. As I researched a replacement for my wife's GMC Terrain, I learned about all of the bad CVT transmissions and oil burning engines in that class. Happened on a used Alltrack for sale at a dealer and as I researched the dsg transmission and looked up reviews - I was pretty excited by what I read. We have taken in on one 6-hour trip through the mountains and several 3-hour family visits. I love driving it. Probably my favorite car I have driven other than my old 2000 Volvo S70. It seems to be very well built. It is insanely quiet on the road and it has great acceleration. We travel with two kids and two dogs and it zips right up mountain passes, rarely cracking 3k rpm. I wish we had about 2 more inches in the trunk for our kennel, but it is a large space. I am anxious to try the AWD in some Montana snow this winter. Sadly its my wife's driver, but I get to drive it on trip!

Front mid console is a bit awkward in placement, making it difficult to put two drinks in the designed locations. Its also awkward for the passenger to open the compartment because the fit is too close to the front seats. The lack of any dedicated sunglass compartment is frustrating. Kept communications the entire time. Ricky was great. In the process i got worried and started researching. There are some people years ago that didn't review well. I really don't thinknthe deserve those reviews. After i got the car i asked the owner about them. He said they changed their business modelnto higher end cars with lower miles. And it has worked for them. I am 100% happy and have a stellar car. Inwould recommended whole-heartedly. They are in Chicago and i amnin Texas. Stressful buying online but they delivered on all cylinders.
2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack review
I drove a Golf TSI for years and absolutely loved it. Never wanted drive a different car as long as Iived. Then I had a kid(which is is tight with a golf) and someone pulled out in front of me and it got totalled. I took the money and upgraded to the Alltrack because its basically the same car with more room and AWD. Absolutely love it! Gas mileage is significantly lower than my Golf, but it still has some zip. The DSG transmission is like butter. Ill drive this car into the ground.

2009 Subaru Outback review
We drove the car for 11 years & the only thing we did was change the oil/filter & replaced the tires. I believe there were three recalls. Two of which were air bags on the passenger side. Great vehicle with excellent mpg. One of the best cars that we've ever owned. We didn't purchase another one due to the tow capacity limit.

2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV review
Small but mighty. Best value EV for first and long term cost. Great acceleration and braking, especially when using Regen paddle. Nice GM incentive to pay for 220V garage charger as it is needed for overnight recharge. I bought the EV1 model since I didn't needed heated seats in Florida, but would have liked forward crash collision braking and side mirror lane changing warning. Overall, the Bolt EV is ideal for me.

2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV review
I love driving this car! It is fast and efficient. I love the one-pedal braking and seldom have to use the brake pedal. It also has a hand brake on the left side of the steering wheel that is a great accessory. The car looks small, but there is ample room for 4 adults. The storage in the back is limited, but plenty of space for our needs. We can also put two suitcases in that space. If it is just the two of us, we can drop the back seat and create more than enough space for all the luggage we would need on a long trip. The torque is outstanding and is great to have entering a freeway or passing another vehicle. The visibility around and behind the car is the best I think I've ever had in a car. No maintenance other than tire rotations and we have solar panels at our house, so I haven't paid for gasoline (or electricity) in over 3 years. The only negative is long distance driving and that will soon be solved when the Tesla Supercharging Station adapters will be available for GM cars in 2024. Did I say this was a great car? We love it.

2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV review
I decided it was time to "retire" our 2006 BMW M3 convertible as a second car and just keep it garaged until the sun comes out and we want a top down drive through the mountains of southwest Virginia. But my wife was not excited at the prospect of a 3rd vehicle that has no place in our retirement budget. I have been looking at EVs or plug-in hybrids but all were too expensive as a third vehicle and I had almost resigned to wait to replace our Honda Accord in a couple more years with a plug-in hybrid as range issues still bothered me with EVs (except perhaps Tesla, but didn't want a Muskmobile). When I found a Bolt Lt1 at a dealer who was willing to sell below MSRP and give me the $7500 tax rebate up front, the decision became extraordinarily simple. A brand new, pretty good electric vehicle with full warranty and a 250+ mile range for under $20K. Amazing. Likes: cheap, reasonably comfortable, lots of room for a small car, handles reasonably well, steering is good, one pedal driving is fantastic, electric motor smoothness/quiet, no gas! Chevy pays for some or all installation of a level 2 charger plug. Dislikes: In my 1LT trim, no heated seats, rake of front windshield causes "A" pillar to be in the way when making left hand turns. Just purchased the Bolt so can't speak to reliability issues. This is a perfect 2nd car. Use it for all your normal short/medium trips (most of most peoples' driving lives) and use no gas. Keep your older, larger car for road trips or when you need to carry adult passengers in back. Buy one while you can!

2017 Subaru Outback review
I went from owning a 2003 Monte Carlo SS to a 2017 Subaru Outback. It was worth every penny. My Subaru is not only reliable, functional, and cute; it also saved me from being injured in a bad crash. This past fall a six point buck hit my car head on and I never saw it coming. It was a fatal crash for the deer, but not for me. As heartbroken as I was to see my car crumpled on the front, I was so glad it wasn't me. It was a repairable fix and made me really appreciate my car.

It was a mixed review. Mostly positive but the review will spell out why it was mixed. I found a used auto nation Range Rover that I purchased. That deal went through smoothly. After driving that car for several days I quickly realized it was not the car for me. I returned the car and they cancelled the deal without 1 question. But I still needed a car and based on the terrific experience I felt I owed them the chance to sell me another car. Lucas (my salesman) jumped on getting me up to speed on their products and within an hour I committed to purchasing a Prius. I asked for the numbers so we could close the deal. Lucas came back and informed me that management would not provide me numbers until my wife approved the deal! (My wife could not operate the Land Rover because she could not see over the wheel). I made it clear it was my car and I do not need my wife’s permission to buy the car I want! Management would not relent! So I had to pick up my wife once she was free and that took almost 3 hours! My wife was clearly upset because she had to cancel her appointments to come to the store and verbalize her approval. Of course management blamed the salesman. Lucas did hold it all together and I did purchase the Prius (which I’m very pleased with). Also, the finance process was froth with mistakes that took days to sort out. But the bottom line is there’s a culture there that does not respect the buyers time nor experience. This deal took 2 days to finalize! I pretty much lost 2 days of my life! If you go there expect to join the legions of customers sitting around killing time.
2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen review
Purchased used S 5-speed manual with 33,000 miles on it about four years back. Just passed 100,000 miles last month. Only one problem so far, with the passenger door latch assembly. We get about 37 MPG mixed city and highway, and 45-50 MPG in interstate highway driving. FWD and snow tires work fine here in Wisconsin. The turbo motor and 5-speed provide all of the acceleration one will *actually* need, and also provide those great economy numbers. As part of the Golf platform, it's a solid car and the handling is good. The ride comfort is also good, maybe enhanced by the taller 16" tires on the S version. Simple controls, without an overly complicated radio / info system. Manual ventilation controls (knobs) are a huge plus. With the rear seats down, it has about the same cargo space as our 2009 Subaru Outback: little narrower but also a little longer. Good outward visibility. Driver seat can get a little tiring after a long drive (4 hours or more) but it's comparable with other highway vehicles we've owned. Reasonably quiet inside considering it's essentially an economy vehicle. A very nice economy vehicle, though. We like it enough that we're considering getting another one before there are no more good wagons in the market.

I am waiting for a new fresher model to come out but not in a rush.

2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class review
I love this car! It looks great, handles wonderfully and the ride is exceptional. I went with the 2020 model because I don't care for the grill design implemented since 2021. I got the traditional grill with hood ornament which is what I preferred. The only disappointment for me was not having a touch screen. It's a bit cumbersome to manually navigate through all the screens using multiple inputs (especially while driving) but I'm getting accustomed to it. I would recommend this car to anyone!!
