Expert 2025 Honda CR-V review

Our expert's take
By Cars.com Editors
Full article

What Is the 2025 Honda CR-V?

The Honda CR-V is a five-seat compact SUV with a choice of two fuel-conscious engines and front- or all-wheel drive. The base engine is a 190-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, while an available hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors, good for a total of 204 hp. Both engines are paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The CR-V competes with a wide range of rivals, including the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan.

What’s New on the 2025 Honda CR-V?

The CR-V carries over unchanged for 2025; it was redesigned for the 2023 model year.

What Features in the 2025 Honda CR-V Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 7-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Four-speaker stereo system
  • One USB port
  • Automatic climate control
  • Push-button start
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rear-seat reminder
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane departure steering assist
  • Lane departure warning

Available features include:

  • 9-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Satellite radio
  • Eight-speaker stereo system
  • Navigation
  • Leather upholstery
  • Power liftgate
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Blind spot warning

Should I Buy the 2025 Honda CR-V?

The Honda CR-V is enormously popular because it does so much right. It’s easy to maneuver, has a nicely composed ride, and places among the best in the compact SUV class for occupant and cargo space. Many standard driver aids are included, and the CR-V’s fuel economy is strong — especially with the available hybrid powertrain. Our only gripe is that the CR-V doesn’t offer the same spirited handling or punchy acceleration that some competing compact SUVs deliver.

The CRV is a luxury mid size hatchback. Smooth riding, handles well in Michigan’s winter weather 🤒. Good miles per gallon. I do drive in economy mode. I am still getting used to the size after driving a Honda Odessy. Good overall view. No obvious blind spots. I wish it had a manual garage opener feature on on the Ex.

We recently upgraded to a Honda CR V. It is very comfortable and has almost everything we need. The only drawback is that SiriusXM radio is only available through the app on our phone. Otherwise it is very user friendly.

  • We needed the best possible rear seat area and entrance

We needed the best possible rear seat area and entrance possible for a disabled family member. After much research, the CRV is the best of the 5 passenger cars. Interior space- front and back is great... cargo space is limited as the trade-off.
