There’s not lots to talk about for the 2026 Honda CR-V. For the most part, the automaker’s refreshed sales superstar is left alone for the new model year, with the majority of the upgrades levied to trim structure and packaging, with one major exception: the new-for-CR-V TrailSport trim, which is the latest off-road-focused edition in Honda’s growing outdoorsy adventure lineup.

Mostly an Appearance Package

As you’d expect from any modern off-road trim, there’s as much visual change as there is mechanical and capability improvements. In the case of the CR-V TrailSport, however, this means there’s not much of either. Other than a set of trim-specific wheels and some mild all-terrain tires, much of the TrailSport boils down to appearance rather than mud slingin’. Offered exclusively as a hybrid with all-wheel drive, the TrailSport doesn’t include a suspension lift, skid plates or even specific terrain modes you might find on other sandy specials.

Think of this more as an appearance and theme package than something you can truck through Moab. It’s aimed at the mythical subset of active-lifestyle customers who seek a crossover for occasional soft-roading to remote trailheads or mountain cabins. If you’ve got some relatively serious trails ahead of you and you must have a Honda, spring for the TrailSport iterations of the Passport or Ridgeline instead.

The 2026 CR-V TrailSport does look rather sharp, however, especially with the darkened exterior trim, wheels and meatier tires. The TrailSport benefits from additional model-wide tweaks, as well, most of which are relegated to the interior, including a larger standard 9-inch infotainment touchscreen that’s up an impressive 2 inches over the prior standard display. All 2026 CR-Vs pack wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in addition to wireless charging as standard. On at least the EX-L, the CR-V’s digital instrument panel screen is now 10.2 inches, 46% larger than the outgoing model’s 7-inch display (though a 7-inch screen is still standard in lower trims).

So, it’s subtle stuff for the 2026 model, but seeing as how the Honda CR-V remains one of the bestselling cars in the entire market, I reckon customers wouldn’t have it any other way.
