2022 Nissan Titan review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2022 Nissan Titan?

The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck that competes against the Ford F-150, Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500. All versions are powered by a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V-8 engine that works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are available. A Titan XD version has a stronger frame and higher towing and hauling capacities.

Buyer Beware

Purchase at your own risk. Purchase a 22 Titan and the engine has been replaced due to a piston scaring. The front and rear diff seals went bad. The entire rear end went out with bearing failure. The transmission is very jerky and hangs in gears. The crash sensors are faulty causing the truck to slam on the breaks while going down the interstate. Nissan has lost a lifelong customer.

Stay away from the Titan

Do not buy a Nissan Titan ever. It will make your life miserable. Powertrain messes up at 60K miles. Transmission and engine troubles non-stop. Someone's sleeping on the job at quality control or they just don't care. I've owned 2 Pathfinders, 1 Fro tier and 1 Altima. The Titan definitely killed my loyalty. That's why it's getting discontinued. Corporate Nissam won't do anything pf course, we appealed several times even their own dealerships appealed and can't believe what a crappy truck the Titan has turned out to be. Bye bye Nissan.

Nissan has a problem that they can't solve

Purchase at your own risk. We have 2 Nissan vehicles. We love our '21 Rogue and have enjoyed it from day #1. Our '22 Titan is a different story. Please make sure you take any new Nissan on an extended test drive if you plan on using CarPlay (I don't know if this is the case with Android Auto). There is a bug in some Nissan vehicles that makes CarPlay unusable if you use your iPhone for audio & navigation at the same time. Nissan knows about this issue but they refuse to do anything about it. We have been able to duplicate the issue with multiple phones and multiple cables. They claim it is a software issue, but they refuse to honor their warranty and provide a software update that corrects the problem. We've seen this issue in our '22 Titan. We had the same problem in a '21 Armada that we rented from Enterprise. The manager of the Enterprise location down the street from this dealer said that they have had multiple Nissan vehicles with the same problem. Not only is there unbearable static when using CarPlay, the screen will freeze periodically. Most recently, the unit has started rebooting while driving down the road. Buy a Nissan - but make sure you're happy with the infotainment system before you drive off. As it stands right now, if you buy it and you find out later that it's messing up, you're stuck with it because Nissan can't/won't honor their warranty to fix it.
