2017 Chevrolet Volt review
I bought a Chevy Volt on March 3 2020. I had read that there was a lot of value to this car. I test drove 3 gently used ones. Keep in mind I am not an expert. I went with one that had been a lease return with 54k miles. I have a short commute, so have it on battery only 98 percent of the time. Got a 240v charger, super quick. One thing, it is a low headroom car, so better for shorter people. Plus side, hi fi Bose stereo system. So far no mech issues. Also filled tank 1x. Been over a year since purchase.

2012 Chevrolet Volt review
My 2012 Volt was purchased brand new on Groundhogs Day, 2012, and is now 14 years old! Knock on wood, I've not had any issues with it except a tire that doesn't hold air as well as the other 3 tires. And once all of the dashboard lights came on to “Check engine”. Turns out that the computer system in the car needed to be updated, and that was that. I mainly run it on electricity around town and to nearby areas, so the mileage is in the mid-50's. However, it has been driven numerous times from Ohio to Raleigh, NC, to the Outer Banks several times, to Maryland many times, and to the Adirondacks, and often to the Cleveland Airport. So it has been driven decent miles using gasoline as well. My mpg on gasoline is typically 42, but that can vary if driving over mountains vs flat land or city driving vs country roads. It has been a very comfortable car for me. The only downside has been that heated steering wheels were not offered back then. That is the only feature that I wish it had. I've put the backseats down and over the years have transported a kayak, a bicycle, and several other large items. So useful! Heated seats make me so warm that I rarely turn on the actual car heater, which of course, helps save the battery in winter. In the winter, my mileage has been 32 miles on complete battery. But this year, it's gone down to 29 as the battery is aging. However, in the Summer, I easily get 45-50 miles. Your mpg also depends on how you drive the car. I'm not heavy-footed and tend to coast toward a red light rather than gun it then slam on my brakes. What a waste of energy! The battery regenerates while coasting, so I often will coast down hills, too. The Volt has plenty of power if in a situation where you really need a quick blast to get out of a dangerous situation — especially if running on battery. It can be up to 60 in no time! BTW, the Volt's body has held up beautifully! It looks like a new car. It has never been garaged and has sat outside in the elements for the past 14 years. My plan is to run it for many more years until issues begin to arise. But at 55,000, she's still a young pup with lots more vim and vinegar. Fingers crossed! I only wish Chevy had not converted the Volt assembly line to trucks. I think they did the general public a disservice by discontinuing them. I would buy another one if they came back.

2018 Chevrolet Volt review
It's a shame more people were not familiar with this car before Chevrolet stopped producing them. I drive on EV mode almost all the time, except when going on long trips. There is no range anxiety with the Volt. My car is averaging 181,000 MPG lifetime.

2018 Chevrolet Volt review
I bought a 2018 Premiere 7 months ago; I wanted an EV that had decent electric range and had an onboard range extender. It can go coast to coast on gas only getting over 40 MPG at highway speeds. It covers up to 50 miles on a single charge in the non-winter months and about 30 -35 miles in the winter. It charges to full in 4.5 hours using a 240 Volt charger. It has strong low speed acceleration, responsive handling and is fun to drive. It handled the worst S/E Michigan winter storm easily with just all season tires, and averages 121 MPGe. It is loaded with premium features like leather seats and steering wheel, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel, navigation, active cruise control, blind side warning, automatic low speed pedestrian braking, auto dimming headlights and a full page of standard equipment. The rare hatch area is small but very usable and can swallow bikes and lumber with the 2nd row seats folded.This car is upscale enough that it could have a Buick logo on it. I'm averaging 6 gallons of gas per month or about $20/month. My electricity costs me $0.03/kWh charging late at night (distribution costs more than doubles this cost; a full charge costs about $1.50 to go about 50 miles on the battery). It is a very comfortable highway cruiser; it is luxuriously quiet and the Bose 8 speaker system rivals the 14 speaker Bose system in our Yukon Denali. I have spent $0 for maintenance in 7 months. The brakes last many years because of the region feature (paddle and L drive modes engage region). At around $20K for a low mileage Gen 2 Volt, I can't think of a funner, higher tech car that is less expensive to operate at that price. A recent Car and Driver article recommended a 1980's Porsche as a fun, quick car to buy;. Surprisingly, the Gen 2 Volt's 0-60 time, 1/4 mile time/speed, 70-0 braking distance, and lateral g capability were the same or better than the respected German GT. It's easy to think of my Volt as a sports sedan, not as an economy car.

2018 Chevrolet Volt review
I have a second Gen Volt and absolutely love it! It has its little quirks but overall is a great car....I just wish GM still made them. I have always owned GM vehicles and driven other brands but the imports are too "Tinny" sounding and loud on the road. SOme of the Fords are also this way. GM did a major disservice by discontinuing the Volt as it's the best car they made. Yes, a little smaller than a Lesabre or the other larger cars but can't beat the range and fuel economy. I do wish the electric range was bigger and had they continued to make them then I'm sure that would have improved with a solid state battery or something but I love the car. GM if you read this, we need more cars like this one! The safety and redundancy of the electronics to power it are the best and it has never left me stranded!

To help me make the best decision, he shared five key things every buyer should look out for: 1️⃣ Check the Vehicle History – They emphasized how important it is to review a full history report to avoid hidden surprises. A clean record means fewer risks! So get your own Carfax. 2️⃣ Have the Car Inspected – They strongly recommended bringing in a trusted mechanic to inspect the car before buying. A small upfront cost can save thousands in repairs later. 3️⃣ Understand the Warranty – They made sure I knew exactly what was covered and what wasn’t so I wouldn’t be caught off guard with unexpected repair costs. Their Cars are "AS IS" so when you drive off its all on you. The 30 day return document is a formality that will not be honored. 4️⃣ Review the Financing Terms – They Explained that none of their advertised EV cars get the discount it is just a way to get people through the door but they explained my financing options, including interest rates, monthly payments, and any potential hidden fees, so there were no surprises. You will be told you can refinance your car later by their finance guy but Nas let me know chances are slim since their cars have a salvage title. 5️⃣ Take a Thorough Test Drive – Instead of a quick spin, they encouraged me to test the car under different road conditions to make sure it felt right. Additional Important Steps They Advised: 🔴 No Returns Policy – Once you sign, the car is yours. They emphasized doing all research beforehand, getting an inspection, and making sure I was 100% confident before committing. 🔴 Salvage Title Considerations – Many of their vehicles have salvage titles, which means: Insurance rates will likely be higher, and some insurance companies won’t cover salvage vehicles at all—so check before buying. Resale and trade-in value will be lower, and some dealerships won’t take salvage vehicles. Many banks won’t finance salvage titles, so you may need to pay in cash or use a lender that specializes in these purchases. 🔴 Check the Vehicle’s Value with Other Dealers – One of the best tips the manager gave me was to take the VIN numbers of the cars I was interested in and check with other dealerships to see what they would pay for it. This way, I could compare prices and see if I was actually getting a fair deal. That level of transparency really impressed me! I truly appreciated how upfront and honest they were. They didn’t pressure me into buying but instead gave me all the tools to make an informed decision. 2016 Chevrolet Volt review
We had a little range anxiety before buying this extended range electric but with a gasoline generator you can drive at 42MPG after the 52 miles of all electric. That's the furthest of any plug in "hybrid". Fun to drive with lots of torque and a low center of gravity. Great traction in winter too.

2017 Chevrolet Volt review
I drive around town most days and love the idea of not using as much gas. I drive older volvo's that I love for many reasons but they are aging and certainly not good on gas. I like the idea of full EV cars but the cost is very high and range for me (I take a lot of 200-300 mile road trips) makes it more complicated along with the expense of charging stations or installing upgraded home chargers. I bought a used Volt with 50k miles and it honestly is a pretty awesome car. I can drive around town almost purely on electric, just plug in at night to a standard outlet. And barring me going on a road trip a tank of gas a month maybe less. (8 gallons to fill up!!!!) I love the heated seats and wheel. The interior layout is great and its a very quiet car. It's quick around town and holds its own on the freeway. Are the seats volvo comfortable? NO, but they aren't bad at all in the leather premier trim. Is the back seat huge not really but if you are less than 6' it should be fine. The bose sound system is GREAT. All the safety features are nice. Back up camera, front and rear sensors, lane keep, adaptive cruise, etc.... It took a week or so to get used to how to drive it in EV and maximize my range. I can now get around 55-60 miles in town. I would say to read the manual for sure, the climate controls are situated to save electricity so there is no A/C on or off button and I had to read up on how it works. I got the hang of it once I took the time to understand what did what. The Chevy Volt forum is a wealth of knowledge as well, and that really made it easy to learn how the car works. Apart from slight learning curve it is an excellent car you can easily run in EV only if it suits your situation. Long trips are no problem I can get 42 mpg on the freeway usually and no down time to charge at stations along the way. This is a great car to bridge the gap between full gas and full electric and given the price to purchase it almost makes sense not to own one. I LOVE IT.

2013 Chevrolet Volt review
I am amazed with this car. I am a factory Master Certified Technician. I use the car for work and around town with a trip once in a while. I get 75-90 mpg most of the time. I just bought some gas after driving it 2 1/2 months. It took 3 gallons only because I run the gas motor for 1 mile to help it warm up then switch to full electric. The hold feature works great. I drive in low range with sport mode and it’s a fun reliable car that is very cheap to operate. What more could you ask for right?

2018 Chevrolet Volt review
This car is the best of both worlds: drive gas free on a decent commute (I still get 60 miles battery under ideal conditions, even at over 70,000 miles), or the convenience of filling up at the gas tank to continue the journey on a long vacation drive without sacrificing performance. The routine maintenance schedule is far shorter and cheaper than my other vehicles, and I've only needed a radio connection checked out as well as a PCBM replacement (covered under warranty, fortunately) after all this time. Bought at 20k miles with no service performed outside of routine when purchased. Fantastic value, especially whem gas prices rise.
