2024 Mazda Mazda3 review
Previously we have owned a 2016 Mazda Hatchback with the 2.0 liter engine and manual transmission. Our biggest complaint with that car was the lack of power. We were not expecting a performance car, but the 2 liter engine in that car was just anemic. My wife didn't feel safe trying to pull out into traffic. We recently purchased a 2024 Mazda 3 Premium with 2.5 liter engine and manual transmission. While still not feeling like a sports car (it is not one) it does have considerably more torque than the 2016 we owned previously. Things we like about the 2024 model: - the bump in power - fuel economy - the interior. the seats are somewhat firm, but comfy. The dash is nicely layed out - the buttons on the console are useful - heater/AC controls are buttons and knobs - easy to use - the heater fan! We have had several Mazdas, and the fan has always been underpowered. the fan in this car is adequate - two driver settings that will put the seat in the correct position, as well as let you set the brightness of the heads up display - seat heaters Things we don't like: - auto sensing wipers. the only way to use the intermittent wipers is with the 'auto' setting, and it operates properly only intermittently at best - the door for the gas filler. it is not difficult, but if you don't know how to do it, you may need to google (what I had to do at the gas station) - Fully electric parking brake - I would prefer a manually operated brake. - The pedal area is somewhat narrow. I have somewhat wide feet, so I have to keep that in mind, as some shoes make driving cumbersome. The reliability question was required, which is a rather lame requirement when one has owned a car for a month. I gave it 3 stars as I have no idea yet as to the reliability.

2017 Audi S7 review
I upgraded to the 2017 S7 Prestige from driving a 2005 Audi A6 for 11 years. I gave the A6 to my son with 138,000 miles, it still runs great. This S version does not disappoint. A head turner, fast, and reliable. I have every option except the Sport Package and Alcantara headliner. Loaded with features not even listed like a 9GB hard drive to load CD's or DVD's if you choose. WiFi hot spot rocks especially with my Escort. Comfortable ride, love the adjustable settings. Cooled and heated seats, night vision, Bang and Olufsen stereo, heated steering, what is not to love. Audi is ditching the Google Earth feature for us in December 2020, and many fuel door actuators (dumb design Audi) are my only complaints. A7, S7, RS7, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

2021 Tesla Model S review
Ordered model s 2021 long range. Upon delivery immediate attraction and had been growing ever since. Just smile when I look at model s and when people admire and comment on style and model the smile comes from the inside out. Midnight gray with dark 19 inch wheels. Black interior. Took a while to adjust to electric. Driving is a breeze. Have the full package. Still in process of practicing with the FSD capabilities and use the auto pilot on the interstates. Always cautious around a lot of traffic. Not all cars are teslas and not all drivers are attentive. I enjoy every ride. Tesla just glides down the road. Comfort, safety and a pleasure to drive. Have taken Tesla on road trip from Florida to Colorado and back. Charging stations a plenty. Comfort even on long run days. Switched from FSD to me driving during the trip. I enjoy driving so it was not an issue to drive just a pleasure. Several updates since road trip and some minor issues were addressed. I am a retired truck driver so I do like distance between me and other vehicles. Tesla performed well with cars, cars with trailers but not enough distance between Tesla and big trucks. Passing a truck was an issue for me. I have talked to others they don’t see the problem. Have to get too close to rear of truck to pass and wants to cut in too quick in front a a big truck. Haven’t tried this since last update. Need the space and distance on interstate to test. Too much traffic for me to test it out. Do not have the Tesla charger at home but use a ccs adapter for 40 amp. Charges in about 2 hour time. Charge up to 80 percent on road trip charged. 100 percent and charged at between 30 and 40 percent. Long range average about 250-300 miles between charge. Ran speed limit. I am a little disappointed in other Tesla drivers not sure why but when I look at them and their Tesla they just stick up their nose and look straight ahead. Not that way. Love to share my Tesla have taken my neighbors for rides. Kinda selfish though don’t allow anyone else to drive just ride. Big smile on my face right now. Just talking about my Tesla makes me smile. Can look out my window there Tesla sits. I need a smile all I do is look outside.

2024 Mazda Mazda3 review
This car feels very neutral and smooth in corners at any speed. Sometimes, it feels like it's too easy to go too fast in this because the grip is so confidence-inspiring. I have the non-turbocharged model, which has plenty of giddy up to it. I'm not sure if I regret choosing it over a turbocharged variant but there's plenty of power for my needs. The gearing is pretty tall and you need to plant your foot to let it rev out and find the right gear, but doing so is rewarded with a very responsive and surprisingly smooth engine for being a 4 cylinder. I was feathery on the gas at first, so it was underwhelming but I adjusted to the inputs. The car feels plenty sporty and the grip makes cornering feel amazing. The rear suspension is torsion beam and you will notice it on very poor roads, but everyday driving on decent roads feels super refined, quiet and grip is not affected by this suspension arrangement. I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm 6'3" and fit pretty comfortably in the car even with the sunroof right above me. I've been in cars with more front legroom and have been less comfortable than I am in this car. Seat bolstering could be an issue for those with wider shoulders. I'm someone who loves a low driving position, so this car is a godsend in a world of soulless, blobby SUVs. I think this is the best all-around compact car you can get.

2022 Honda Civic review
I absolutely love mine in comfort I think that it could have been a little bit better but that's on long trips. Short trips the comfort is fine. My car was totaled and my airbags blew on my steering wheel and at my legs and I'm so glad that they did because I really would have gotten hurt without those airbags The seat belt also did its job very well and the brakes warning light came on first then the brakes came on the exact same time I was putting the brakes on a guy ran a stop sign and there really wasn't much I could do but hit him which it did total my car and I am now looking for another one of the exact same kind I want my car back I love my Honda Civic sport touring.

2026 Mazda Mazda3 review
Bought 26' Mazda 3 hatchback Premium 6spd. While this car occupies a niche segment, a manual transmission car (not a CUV), it is a practical daily commuter car that also brings some driving joy to my enthusiast side. This model has been around since 2019 but still looks like it could have been a new model release. The interior is one of the nicest in the segment. All places touched frequently are covered in soft plastics or leather. The options include a complete host of safety and driver aids, headup display, lane departure, and adaptive cruise are actually helpful and not intrusive. I enjoy the Bose 12spkr system while rowing through the gears. The transmission is smooth and precise. This is not a fast car but it is a joy driving with spirit. The back seats are snug but our young children fit comfortably. The rear hatch is deep and fits enough for getaways or Costco runs. The handling is confidence inspiring that keeps you grinning even well within the car's limits. Having owned other Mazdas including Mazda6 6spd v6, CX 5 twice...the Mazda 3 hasn't disappointed. The Mazda 3 is a fun car that delivers a rewarding experience, decent fuel efficiency, adequate practicality, and an interior that feels premium. The long term reliability is the really what seals the deal. We're looking forward to many years of enjoying ownership.

2021 MINI Hardtop review
It be of no secret that the Germans are behind the production of the MINI Brand. The fit and finish, drive, engineering and even smell are all very much in tune with the Brand's Ownership. The drive and sheer joy one feels from driving one of these products makes you feel like a kid again, playing with their favorite toy after a day of school. There are bigger and more expensive offerings to choose but none have the character or joy of ownership of a MINI.

2026 Honda Civic review
I commute 30 miles a day, but it doesn't feel like it in my '26 Civic Sport hybrid sedan. I drive twisty roads, inclines and the freeway, and the car handles 'em all like a champ. It has the comfort, smooth ride and acceleration of my previous 2018 Accord Sport with way better gas mileage (45-50 mpg). I also like the dash/instrument layout and easy-to-use infotainment system. So if you're like me, a cheapskate who also enjoys spirited, comfortable driving, the Civic may be the right car for you! (I personally prefer the sedan over the hatchback, but that's just me.)

2018 Tesla Model S review
After living in a city and not owning a car for 10 years, this has been a pretty amazing car since my first ‘99 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I bought my 2018 Tesla S 75D used in April 2021 for $52k with about 35k miles on it. I saw similar models go for as high as 65k when used car prices went berzerk shortly after and now down to the 30s… But what I love about my car, that is a unique option for 2018, is having both the retractable sunroof and FSD capability. 2018, if my memory is correct, it is the last year a sunroof was available and the first year that the car had the hardware to handle FSD level software. And speaking of FSD, I do think calling it “Full Self Driving” is not really an appropriate description, it still gets a lot closer to autonomous than any other car brand out there currently (Jan 2024), and I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves. I can’t/shouldn’t lose focus of the road, but it does make longer drives a breeze. I don’t trust it completely and sometimes I intervene at times, but for the most part it takes a lot less mental energy out of driving and makes it that much more enjoyable. It’s as close to being a passenger while driving as I’ve gotten. As far as cons, I don’t have the long range battery and I live in the NYC area so when it is cold out especially, I might only get 3/4 of the estimated miles in actual miles. Fortunately it is garage kept at an apt building and probably doesn’t get below 50 degrees in there, and I lay $40/mo fixed to use the shared EV chargers in the building. There’s only few times I’m going on long enough drives to need to charge as long as I remember to charge it fully before going…. But looking back, I do think the longer range option would have been worthwhile. Some other highlights/things I like: - Premium sound option is great, has a small sub on the trunk and high quality mid/high end with a good EQ, so you tweak it to your liking and the quality will hold up all the way to level 11 (a Spinal Tap reference and one of many, many “easter eggs”). - This year was before the yolk steering wheel and pop out screen.. The screen in this year is gigantic, and the brightness adjustments and dark mode option make it less distracting than it sounds. - It’s FAST. I don’t have the ludacrous mode option but it’s still 0-60 in 4.2, and is oh so smooth and quiet on its way up. It also has a lot of “jerk” when you’re wanting to go from 40-60 or something like that too. (Fun math nerd fact- Jerk is the 2nd derivative of velocity and first derivative of acceleration. It’s how quickly acceleration accelerates.) - It’s a big car. The passenger space feels more like a 7 series BMW than a 5 series. And since it’s a hatchback style, it can haul a lot of stuff and some larger items more easily when you fold down the back row. I've owned my 2017 Toyota Prius Prime for 160,000 miles, and every day still feels like a new experience. The reliability, fuel economy, and overall quality continue to amaze me.
