2024 Volkswagen Atlas review
Traded my 23 Atlas SE Technology V6 for the 24 SEL R-Line premium. This SUV is fantastic, a great value, reliable and the performance of the turbo 4 engine is excellent and most impressive. I've driven Volkswagen's for years and this one hasn't disappointed. Advice to Volkswagen, bring back the TDI!

This was the first time that I've used CarMax... always felt that the "no-haggle" thing was just a grift. It's not. Very fairly priced car in pristine condition. They even transferred it for free. Transaction was relatively quick and painless as well. They were even able to take care of the REAL tags and title there as well. If you do your pricing research, they are most definitely an option. And thankfully there was no sleazy salesman vibe or upwelling. Would gladly use them again. Oh, and they actually FILLED the tank, which USED TO BE commonplace, and I didn't have to ask.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid review
2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE model is a great choice - interior road noise & front seats that do not glide back enough are my ‘wish I would have paid attention to’ regrets. If passengers are over 6’2” with long legs, they do not fit in the front seat comfortably & many times I feel like an Uber driver with them choosing the back seat when going distances. Hybrids make a lot of noise when backing up which can turn heads - this is normal so don’t be alarmed. Gas mileage is terrific & its sporty exterior is over the top. I do love it & recommend it if not concerned about the cons I have mentioned.

2018 Volvo S90 review
Before buying used, have an independent mechanic check it over. I had a bad experience with the dealer with several expensive issues shortly after my purchase. Brakes, alignment/tires, shock and steering wheel electronics (voice command, radio). The steering wheel electronics problem is common.

2020 Hyundai SONATA review
Have a 2020 Sonata SEL with convenience package and it's now 11/24. 26 thousand miles and never had an issue. Car is comfortable reliable and my wife and daughter have our their feet down when I wanted to get another vehicle. My daughter wants it in a few years as I drive carefully, service the car every 4,000 miles. She wants a free car with under 50k miles that will last 200k miles. I have taught her well. She understands a good value. So glad I got the 2.5 non turbo as I believe the engine will be worry free for another 175k miles

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross review
I LOVE my 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a car more. It’s the perfect size for me. It has great visibility and I love the amenities like having parking sensors and navigation. It has mood lighting inside, auto brights which my previous car did not have. There are so many little things I love about this car. Also, Toyota came out with many “Easter eggs” with the Corolla Cross logo, which are always fun to find! The ride is comfortable. I’ve done a 14 hour drive to Colorado within the first year of owning the vehicle and it handled perfectly. It also snowed while we were there and we had no challenges navigating the mountains while in my FWD Corolla Cross. This was my first new car and I’m so impressed! Toyota has great reliability and I’m glad I chose the Corolla Cross as my first new car!

What criteria do you have in shopping your next used vehicle? 1. You want to buy a used car that is believed to be absolutely trouble free (Equivalent to a certified grade). 2. You are ok to buy a car at a fair market price (You are not trying to find a steal deal or to negotiate a price). 3. You hate sales pitch. Then go to Carmax. This is my best advice based on my past car buying experiences with all sorts of car dealers. You can't go wrong with Carmax if the above three are your criteria. Carmax set an extremely high standard in their car reconditioning protocols. Carmax certification is as good as manufacturer's certifications. Meanwhile, you will be discouraged if you come to Carmax in hope to find a steal deal, because all of their cars are priced RIGHT, and they never give you a room to negotiate over the price. This means that they don't play games, and they don't let you play games, either. They are fair. You have to be fair, too. A good news is, they don't try to steal your money. So don't try to steal theirs. However, I have one serious advice: Get pre-approved by a local credit union before coming to Carmax. While Carmax too does offer financing, their repayment rule has a catch. Say your monthly payment was set to $100. If you put $500 at once, you expect that the extra $400 would automatically go to principal payment, right? Not with Carmax financing. Instead, the first $300 goes to the three upcoming monthly payments, and only the remaining $200 will go to principal payment. I want to provide some feedback on an awesome sales consultant (Berlin McKay). It has been about 9 years since I was looking at vehicles and really hated talking to sales personnel and being able to believe/trust them. BUT, I had the best experience while looking at different models of Toyota's. Berlin was patient, respectful and kind through the whole process. It's been a while since I've met such a genuine "Good Guy"! Berlin assisted me in the whole process and was patient even when I didn't have all the details, paperwork and answers. He assisted me with cleaning out my Highlander, no matter how long it took. I remembered: my Highlander's title was in my gun safe, no problem, right? I haven't accessed it for over a year. The lesson is: make sure the battery is changed out yearly! This whole process, experience impressed me and I would recommend Berlin and CMA Martinsburg to anyone. At this time, I really wanted to express the Sales Consultant knowledge with the business, product and paperwork was great! Everyone was awesome from the first visit to the end. I am enjoying my Tacoma TRD Sport!!! What a great experience!
2022 Honda Pilot review
We decided on the Trail Sport. We live in mountains of SW Montana on a dirt road, off a gravel forest service access rd. We also transport elderly women from our church, so needed a 3rd row for seating. It's been a reliable, comfortable ride. Easy for the ladies to get in & out of. My hubby & I are sure enjoying the comfort level of this pilot. One of the great features is being able to adjust the traction to mud & snow.

2017 Audi A4 review
The goods: Perfectly blends performance and comfort. Easily gets ~40 mpg during the summer time on highway drives without sacrificing any power (2.0T Premium Plus Quattro) . DSG is pretty fun when driven aggresively. Tech still feels fresh for a 2017. B&O sound is stellar. Very reliable despite the VW/Audi reputation in the past. This is the ultimate daily sleeper in my opinion. The not so good: DSG shifts quite harshly on low speed or during bitter cold months when the car is not warm enough. DSG maintenance is also quite costly and has to be done every 40k miles. Other nitpicky items: Audi non-sport seats have pretty short thigh support, so get the sport package with the thigh extenders, they are totally worth it. The need to use infotainment screen to put wiper in service position and check oil level (yup, no dipsticks) is unnecesary. Brake pad wear sensors are annoying when they go off. Major service reminder reset needs to be done at dealership, so it can be a little pricey. Overall, I think this is one of the best cars I've ever owned. I usually like to get the top trims, but Premium Plus (mid trim) is the way to go and has a lot more equipment than you'll need. The nickpicky items I think are common in modern cars, so not really a deal breaker.

It was a bit difficult because they were renovating at the time I was there and they usually have a kids area. I?m sure it will be a little easier when everything is finished. The only slow part was actually signing the papers for the vehicle purchase because the business office was behind and what was originally predicted to me to take one hour took almost 2.5 hours.

2022 Ford Escape review
I purchased used '22 Escape SE AWD two years old, low mileage and delighted with my dealer purchase. Upon extensive research, I was aware the loss of market value, which is why I purchased used. This vehicle is produced in volume as 'low-end' entry among 22 field competitors. Yes, there are several vehicles out there higher rated, more expensive, but my research validated highest cargo storage - highest mpg, for the reasonable market price. You can benefit from this depreciation by buying used! Some complain of the transmission, or slow pickup, or passenger door side panels. I have had no issues after 20,000 miles 6/2024 and get 31.3 mpg combined which is stellar!! A great value for the used car price-not new price. I would recommend as a reasonable value, HIGH capacity SUV can accommodate 4 airport passengers full size luggage is my first Ford of 21 cars purchased. Styling is very attractive, good assortment of safety features. Rear seats slide for extended passenger or cargo capacity.

2019 Lincoln MKC review
We bought a 2019 Lincoln MKC reserve, with 54,000 miles on it. The car is most impressive. The only drawback that I would even mention at this point, is a tight backseat as far as roominess, and a shortly smaller cargo area. I have gotten well over 20 miles per gallon around town, and 27.5 on a trip. The seats are incredibly comfortable, both cooled and heated. The entertainment system works flawlessly. The vehicle is solid, stable, and exceptionally quiet. It may turn out to be one of the better vehicles we have ever had.

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 review
I've had my Ioniq 5 for almost 10 months. I chose to lease the car because 1) the EV technology is changing so quickly and 2) to make sure an EV was the right vehicle for me. So far, I've been very pleased with almost everything about the car. At an 80 percent charge, I get 270 miles consistently. The car came with free charging at Electrify America charging stations, but I've yet to use one as I charge at home which costs me virtually nothing as I have a solar panel array that provides plenty of energy for my home and car. The ride, for the most part, is comfortable (the seats could be a little more comfortable). There are plenty of features that I appreciate (all of the warning sensors come in handy, the voice system is good and Bluelink works well). The only downside (for me) is that I got the standard long range edition which gets in excess of 300 miles on a full charge but is missing some of the more refined options (mirrors that fold in when parked, power lift gate, driver seat memory, etc.) If I had to do this again, I would have gone with the next model up. My lease will be up in March of 2026, and unless there is something that I think is better in the EV space, I'll be leasing another Ioniq 5.
