Own a 2014. Best bang for your buck for a 8 seater. I'm at 200k miles with just the usual oil changes and tires when needed. Only 1 downside to these cars are the markups from dealerships.

I love this car. I have 200,000 miles on it and it runs like the day I bought it. Other than normal maintenance I have had no problems. I have not had to put brakes on this car yet and I just had it inspected.

Positive: The Toyota Highlander Hybrid drives the family with excellent comfort and safety providing exceptional room for a midsize cross over. Negative: Paying the extra premium for the hybrid version may not be worth the significant additional premium that one must pay for the electric motors unless you do a significant amount of local driving and keep the car for more than 7 years based on current gas prices. The third row seat is only usable by small children and is not reasonable to be used on a daily basis because of restricted access.

Was assisted by Esteban and the Manager Albert in the purchase of a used vehicle. They were upfront and helpful. After purchase, took the vehicle for an inspection. The vehicle checked out as they had stated.

The trim package is XLE. This car replaced another XLE Hybrid model which did not have AWD. We mainly drive between Nebraska and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The AWD on this vehicle is great and kicks in without you even noticing it. The fuel mileage in the beginning was not great (29-32) due to trips made in the winter. Have not made a trip lately, but our current mileage is 42 with mostly hybrid type city driving (slow acceleration and coasting stops). There is an engine noise when accelerating which we did not have in our other hybrid, but our other vehicle is a truck, so it does not bother us. However, the generated noise while in reverse on only the electric engine is loud & annoying. One complaint is that the XLE trim is not standardized across Toyota models or within a model.

We knew we would purchase another Highlander hybrid after owning our first one. The new 2021 Highlander does not disappoint! It has all the latest features and is an overall great vehicle.

This 2024 HybridHighlander car has hit all the check marks: comfortable, easy to use instrument layout and technology, 35-36 mpg, impressive power for a small 4 cylinder motor. I am very pleased with this car at the 1000 mile mark. I think the price is a little high, but very satisfied.

I’m very pleased with my Highlander Hybrid. My driving skills have improved due to all the technology that “speaks” to me as I drive. I feel safe on the road that contains so many large trucks. I get between 34-35 mpg. Not only have I easily packed my Mom’s wheelchair and other medical equipment, plus family luggage, there’s been plenty of room for a small circular oak table & 4 chairs!! The Highlander is , by far, the best car I’ve owned!

We got the vehicle indecency. 28, 2023. We hit 1000 miles and so far so good. We wanted a bench seat and have bought the XLE. It came with the XP package. I am disappointed that it doesn’t have heated steering wheel and 360 degree camera, but I can live w/o it.

2023 Highlander Hybrid greatly improved over the 2009 model. Over 37+ miles per gallon , smoother quieter ride than our 2009 which we enjoyed until finding how improved the 2023 models are plus the safety features.

We managed to come to an agreement and purchased the car we wanted. There was not much negotiation, but the car was well priced to begin with. We agreed to pay $500 additional in order to drive the car away and have our mechanic inspect it. We got a week to report any issues and could return the car for a full refund if not satisfied by any necessary repairs. Ultimately the car checked out and the only problem was a piece of windshield trim that flew off on the way home. We negotiated a $200 refund and got the repair done by our mechanic so we didn’t have to drive the car back to the dealer. So far, so good.

This is the 4th Toyota that I have owned and while no vehicle is perfect, Toyota has never disappointed me in what really counts, reliability and performance. My current Toyota, the Highlander Hybrid has been everything I thought it would be when I bought it and I expect to be enjoying this vehicle 250, 000 miles from now.

Alex G is probably the most helpful car salesman there is. Not only did he make sure to really do everything he could to get me a great deal on a car I actually wanted, but as a first time car buyer no other dealership or car salesman wanted to seriously help me, but he did. I have had the XLE with some upgrade options as a company fleet vehicle. I have driven it about 12,000 miles in six months from 36k to 48k miles, now. I use it as a work vehicle for sales calls and some personal use. Here’s my plusses and minuses. Plusses: 1. Acceleration is strong and quick. Great for merges and when you need to pass. Amazing for a car this big. 2. While I have not calculated mileage, it is amazing and definitely as good or better than the rating. 3. Space and layout is good. I generally use it with all the rear seats down, though. Only a little family use and it was okay. 4. Reliability. Not a single problem and I think the first rep abused the car and took poor care of it. Minuses: 1. Engine is loud when gas kicks in. Would be unacceptably loud in a luxury car. 2. Comfort is mediocre. Large flat hard seats. Might be better if you are bigger. 3. Tech. Small screen, annoying beeps, lane keep adjusts too hard and would not kick in on a cold snowy day. Maybe the sensor was frozen but should not have. Apple CarPlay is what you want to use. Adaptive cruise tends to keep pushing you back to increase distances. Some cars you can set it, not sure on this. It’s annoying when you’re trying to maintain distance in a fast lane and it’s pushing you back. Also, on curvy roads, almost any curve it auto-brakes gently. You have to turn it off on mountain roads or you’ll make everyone sick. Overall, it is a great car on performance and average or mediocre on everything else. I would recommend the car as a reliable family hauler or work car as I use it. I have a Hyundai Palisade Limited (gas) and if you didn’t want a hybrid I’d totally go Hyundai as it’s way nicer on comfort and Hyundai tech is far better. To be fair, my Palisade is a higher trim but I don’t think the Toyota is that much better on higher trims and tech won’t improve.

I purchased the hybrid Toyota Highlander XLE. This is our second highlander. The product is rock solid, reliable, comfortable, and gets 35 mpg in the city and on the highway. Love it.

Bought a 2023 Highlander Hybrid, Limited. My first Toyota. Ride comfort is good, mileage is fantastic (35-38). Two things disappoint me. First, the wind noise...pretty bad. I’m hesitant to have the dealer touch it because they say nobody has complained about. If you search online, it is a known problem (the noise is TERRIBLE compared to my XT5). Secondly, the car seems chintzy. The exterior metal is tinny...again, compared to my XT5...just not nearly as solid. I would buy it again...I think Hybrids are the way to go. I’m just surprised how chintzy the car seems. I suppose the lack of insulation , etc is the trade off for the great mileage

Nate was the best he definitely went above and beyond and made sure I was getting everything that i wanted he also went out his way in told Me personal stories on the cars what I wanted to give me a better visual of the car and if it was for me , he didn’t just try and tell me what ever to get me to buy what ever he made sure to get me to buy a car that I truly wanted so Nate ! Highlander Hybrid is what I went to buy in May 2025. I now have 7,000 miles on it, both a 1800 mile highway trip plus lots of driving in my area. I am pleased with my purchase and with Toyota of Plano.

My wife had a smaller all wheel drive car from another company that drove me nuts trying to do the driving for me. It was a total hassle to turn it off every time you restarted the vehicle and I complained every time I drove it. Now with the highlander every time I drive it I comment how much I like it. Even considering a second one for my company car. By the way this is our first hybrid vehicle.

I've been waiting for years to find a car to replace my 2006 4Runner. I finally gave up on seeing a 4Runner redesign and decided I wanted something that was better for the environment. The Highlander hits the sweet spot for me. I've averaged 33 mpg overall since getting the car in late April. I saw an improvement in mpg once Summer gas became available. My best trip mpg has been 40 when driving from the Portland OR area to the coast. If you can keep speed in to 50 - 60 range, this car gets amazing mileage. I've been amazed at how often the gas engine is shut off and the car runs in EV mode. The transition is pretty seamless too. Disappointments: 1) My biggest gripe is that in order to switch the air flow to recirculating mode, you have to access a setting in a menu. I use this often when encountering dust or smoke, and it's much harder to switch via a menu than it would be with a mechanical switch. From the pictures I've seen, it appears that the 2023 model has resolved this issue. 2) The wireless phone charger is worthless. I'm lucky if my phone doesn't lose charge while on that charger! 3) My platinum model did NOT come with the digital rearview mirror. I really wanted this, but not sure how much I would use it as I wear glasses and the focal distance to the digital image is a bit too close unless I tilt my head back. 4) There are a lot of little rattles on rough roads... more than my 2006 4Runner had after 178k miles! 5) I'd like to be able to force the AWD system to be on under certain conditions. I barely made it to my friend's cabin due to the front wheels spinning in mud. 6) When the battery isn't fully charged and you downshift to slow down, the regenerative braking system should kick in but instead the engine is engaged. Overall I'm very happy with this car, but it could be better with some small changed. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.
