Car drives great, more than adequate power. Pretty good on gas. Nice torque hills are not an issue. Only selling because I own 2 others.

2008 Volvo S40 review
I enjoy my new used Volvo s40 so much! It’s reliable, safe and very comfortable. My previous car was leased Nisan Centra 2016. Much newer... I had it for almost three years but always had back pain after I drove it. The sit was so uncomfortable and I never found the right position. With my new used Volvo s40, I feel so comfortable to drive, the engine is very quiet even though it had 162 000 miles at the time I purchased it. Comparing to the Nisan, I have much more stability and control in the road, especially when it snow and rains. And it runs much smoother than 2016 Nisan.

2011 Volvo S40 review
My prior car was a SAAB 9-5. It never gave me a problem or left me stranded. After 10-years and over 100k miles, it was time to get something new. The Volvo S40 is very similar to the SAAB 9-3 (just a bit less trunk and rear seat leg room than the 9-5). Volvo has an attractive "all inclusive" warranty for 60 mos / 60k miles (includes brakes, oil changes, etc., only tires are excluded). The ride is nice and tight, the T5 has plenty of power, and mpg is good for the size by real world comparison. Many very good intuitive features, and a handful of helpful personal programming choices (e.g. one-click on remote opens all doors, or just drivers door) Bluetooth for phone interface is easy and works great (another user choice is whether to mute radio on call). The USB interface with an iPod is good, but lacks a few advanced features I would have expected - don't know how this compares to other cars. The key with built-in remote is, by today's standards, pretty big, but not awful - I believe the S60 and above come with keyless ignition - the 2012 S40 may also. All controls and guages are handy and easy to access. The SAAB had the time, date and day of the week on the display, where the Volvo only displays the time (and in two places... why?) Interior comfort and design is very good, but the seats, although fully adjustable, are certainly not awesome - then again, it's not a Mercedes S Class sports car. Bottom Line: I'm very satisfied, and would buy it again. A very affordable, sporty, practical, safe, and mechanically reliable car - what more can you ask.

2005 Volvo S40 review
Its great I had a hyundai sonata for 5 years and it was nice but a lot of the features didn't work like the mirror defroster and the ac compressor was bad. This car is everything I need! Great gas mileage winter mode for driving in snow and a 6 cd player that plays cdrs. It doesn't have Bluetooth or an aux jack but the sound is great and I plan on getting one installed in the future. The interior cloth on the roof started to peel away but cosmetic issues are not important to me. And I keep getting a check engine light for the system being too rich but I was told its because of the ethanol in modern gasoline and a software update will fix it. That's the only issue ive had with the engine its really solid! No issues with any major problems and thats what matters to me. Love the car hope to keep it for 300,000 miles it has 71,000 now

2008 Volvo S40 review
This car is enjoyable to own and drive. It is very powerful, don't really that much on-road power difference between it and the T5 version which I also have one of. I f anything the naturally aspirated S40i seems to go better at high rpms and just about as well at lower ones. The drawback to these cars is their engine crankcase fume system which will have an eventual issue that requires it's complete replacement at about a thousand dollars. This occurs at about 100,000 miles. Also the alternator (a Ford/Mazda product) will probably also need replacing at these miles, as will the starter motor/solonoid. This has been my personal experience. Another issue are the 'green' rubber suspension bushes which like Mercedes ones also, will require renewal at about 100,000 miles. This is also not inexpensive to do to fit new front and rear suspension arms and control rods. So, in summary, a LOVELY car, BUT, an expensive one to keep on the road after a few years..!

2004 Volvo S40 review
I bought my 2.4i new in September of 2004. There's only been a couple minor fixes in 19 years e.g. Wiper fluid pump (ford), etc. Someone mentioned the windows rolling themselves down. Here too, but it cleared itself up. Currently at 149k miles and rust is forming around the wheel wells. My sense is the body will go before the rest of this little zippy tank does. Afraid I'll never find anything like it again...

My Sister and I were having one of the worst days of our lives. We had been car shopping all day, and there were plenty of cars to be seen. There just weren't any "quality" cars in my price range. We expected to be treated like paupers, but the dealer led us to a beautiful "LEXUS"!!!! Oh My GOD!! It WAS Super cheap, beautiful,ran great, and even though they were practically giving it away,.......it was still out of our league. The dealer looked at our disappointment, and realized we had a virtually non existent amount of funds. To our surprise, he looked at us and said "Im going to talk to my management about you." and he left, but before he did he pointed out yet another car we knew looked out of our price range. He said "I'll get the keys.". I got in the car thinking "I really like this car, but it's obviously another car that cant be mine.". I was wrong. That car is sitting in front of my house right now. Do you know why? Its because most dealerships only care about your money, and commission. The Dealers who dealt with us at E Smart Auto cared about my financial situation. After finding out that they weren't going to make any money off the deal, they still went the extra mile to make sure we had a good running, good looking car, and a great buying experience. Dont get me wrong. EVERY SINGLE CAR ON THEIR LOT looked amazing, and each car had an amazing price to match. This place needs to be seen by everyone. Go here!! Go here now!!! You wont be disappointed. To this day, my sister and I are still talking about our fortune at finding this place. E Smart Auto treated me well, and I will always be grateful for their kindness, and understanding nature.

2007 Volvo S40 review
I love my S40. I bought it with a manual transmission and all wheel drive and I don?t regret it at all. The engine is responsive and quick, the car has loads of torque across the entire rev range, and the turbo is quick. The chassis is firm. There?s almost no body roll or chassis movements over bumps and potholes. The all wheel drive system along with Volvo safety tech allows me to drive normal roadway speeds in snowy or wet conditions. The interior is minimalistic and well laid out with extremely comfortable seats. I absolutely love this car.

2009 Volvo S40 review
Drove a 240 DL for 15 years and sold it, but it was still running with over 150,000 miles (which is not all that high of mileage for that car). Drove a Buick and it had transmission problems at less than 30,000 miles. Came back to Volvo and I expect this 4-1/2 year old car to take me well into the 2020s. This is a fun, sleek, modern ride and I LOVE IT!!!

2005 Volvo S40 review
The mileage is low compared to other 2005 vehicles. The ride is smooth and super exceeds my expectation of an older model vehicle it rides just as smooth as a 2020! The interior is in good condition and has been maintained well.

2007 Volvo S40 review
Car has been very reliable and dependable. It does have the typical Volvo sunroof drain issue that needs to be addressed annually or else you will have a pool of water in your footwell. Went thru drivers side bearings more than usual but truly that's about it. Fantastic reliability and safety.

Had a rear brake pad failure and pad was cutting into the rotor. Luckily I was close to Rusty Wallace Chevrolet. I use my vehicle for work so I needed repaired ASAP. I spoke to a service advisor about my situation and she was awesome. They got me in right away and advised the front pads were worn as well and suggested replacement. They repaired my truck and had me ready to go in a little over an hour.
2007 Volvo S40 review
Car drives great, more than adequate power. Pretty good on gas. Nice torque hills are not an issue. Only selling because I own 2 others.

2005 Volvo S40 review
I had a 2007 Volvo S40T a few years back and was amazed by it, simple to work on, reliable as all xxxx, quick and a gas saver, so I recently decided to get another S40, this time I got a 2005 S40 I, yes that same diehard 5 cylinder motor, but without the turbo, and let me tell you, it's crazy fast, saves gas and is fun to drive, Love my Volvo.

I was looking at the Subaru you had, and I was told that you will not find it. Five thousand dollars , but I feel at the application , because the car I was looking Was three thousand something something You told me you do not finance. I am a man Raising my 2 granddaughter. 9 at 10 Also, I'm dealing with cancer and heart problems and need a vehicle. I can afford $78 a month. And according to your website, I qualify, but when I called, they said they will not give me a loan. Because the car was under the amount used to take loans for broke my heart, cause I needed to get back-and-forth to my hospital visits and taking my granddaughters where they need to go friends of mine said. These are very reputable, and I was hoping it was something you could do for me. I'm a little heartbroken that I can't get a card from you, I know my credit score in bed, but when it came down to paying Certain things like my medication, they destroyed my credit rating. I just like to say thank you.\n And then if there was ever anything you could do get me in a vehicle. That is between 3 and 4000 dollars. With a payment of 73 Dollars A month, I appreciate it. Not 43 big Just asking for a little freedom by driving And trying To stay alive for my girls and my family. Thank you for listening. We have had one for about 7 years. Very good little car. Always starts up nice and fast and compact. Only problem was leaking water through the sunroof.
