What it is: The Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury SUV with three rows of seats and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. It’s also sold as a hybrid, which is available only with all-wheel drive. Gas models use a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission, while the Sport Hybrid has a 3.0-liter V-6, an electric motor and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Two electric motors provide power to the hybrid's rear wheels. The MDX competes with the Buick Enclave, Infiniti QX60 and Volvo XC90.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity are now standard, and the multimedia system has a new 7-inch touchscreen and menus. Acura says the system has 30 percent faster response time.
