    I recently purchased a 2026 BMW M4 Competition after

    I recently purchased a 2026 BMW M4 Competition after owning and driving a 2019 Audi RS 5 for over seven years. Unfortunately, my experience with the M4 Competition has been disappointing, especially considering the expectations I had before buying it. One thing that still frustrates me is that I was not allowed to test drive the vehicle before purchasing it. I had always heard so much praise about the M4 and assumed it would be a significant upgrade over my RS 5. Looking back, I strongly recommend that anyone considering this car insist on a thorough test drive before making a decision. My biggest disappointment is the driving experience itself. On paper, the M4 Competition has impressive performance numbers, but in real-world driving it simply does not feel as exciting as I expected. The engine and exhaust sound are surprisingly muted and lack character. In fact, from inside the cabin, the sound is so uninspiring that it often feels no different from driving an ordinary four-cylinder sedan. For a high-performance sports coupe in this price range, that is a major letdown. The downshifts are another disappointment. There is very little drama, feedback, or satisfying exhaust note when shifting down through the gears. In my Audi RS 5, downshifts are engaging and rewarding, with excellent engine braking and a fantastic exhaust sound that adds excitement to every drive. In the BMW, I find myself relying almost entirely on the brakes because the downshifts contribute very little to the driving experience. Acceleration is also less impressive than I expected. While the car is undoubtedly quick, it does not deliver the sense of speed or excitement that I anticipated. The performance numbers may be excellent, but the sensation behind the wheel feels disconnected. My RS 5 feels faster, more engaging, and more confidence-inspiring during spirited driving, even if the BMW may be quicker on paper. I also encountered some technology issues. Apple CarPlay has been inconsistent, particularly when trying to skip to the next track while listening to music. Additionally, the audio system has been underwhelming. Even at high volume levels, the sound lacks the power and richness I would expect from a premium vehicle in this segment. Overall, the 2026 BMW M4 Competition may have impressive specifications and receive a lot of praise online, but for me it has not delivered the emotional connection, excitement, or driving satisfaction that I enjoy in my 2019 Audi RS 5. The BMW may win the numbers game, but the Audi wins where it matters most: the actual driving experience. My advice to potential buyers is simple: don’t get caught up in advertising, social media hype, or performance statistics alone. Drive the car yourself, compare it with competitors, and make sure it delivers the experience you’re looking for before signing the paperwork.

    I wanted to reach out and share my initial thoughts on the 2026 BMW M4 Competition. It is truly an amazing vehicle. While I am still observing the 1,200-mile break-in period before I can fully utilize its performance potential, the power and delivery of the eight-speed automatic and AWD system are already impressive. With 523 hp, the performance is exceptional. The technology integrated into this car is equally brilliant. The interface, featuring the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside the 14.9-inch touchscreen, feels like the future of driving. I have also been particularly impressed with the self-driving features, the native dash cam, and the head-up display, which provide excellent feedback and utility. Additionally, I highly recommend the carbon seats to anyone considering this model; they are well worth the investment and add significantly to the sports car experience. I am thoroughly enjoying the new M4 and look forward to getting the most out of it once the break-in period is complete.
