2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV review: Our expert's take
What Is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade?
The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV with room for seven or eight in three rows of seats. It’s powered by a standard 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine or an available 277-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder. Both engines team with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and both rear- and four-wheel drive are available.
Cadillac also sells an extended-length ESV version with more cargo space and third-row legroom. Competitors include the Lincoln Navigator and Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
The regular-length Escalade offers 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row and 13.2 cubic feet behind its third row, according to Cars.com’s cargo measurements. You can see how it scored in our Car Seat Check here.

Should I Buy the 2022 Cadillac Escalade?
If the price doesn’t scare you off, the Escalade is an excellent choice among full-size luxury SUVs; the redesigned 2021 version won our Luxury Car of the Year award.
The 2022 Escalade has an outstanding interior packed with tech features and offering comfort in all three rows of seats. The V-8 engine is powerful and quiet, though quite thirsty. Given its size, the Escalade is remarkably easy to drive, but its substantial bulk hinders maneuverability and handling.
