Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Ford Bronco Sport starts at $33,840 (all prices include $1,995 destination charge).
  • Available Bronze Package for base trim
  • Throwback Free Wheeling trim level discontinued

Off-road trim levels of mainstream compact SUVs are the hot thing right now, but Ford takes the idea one step further. The Bronco Sport is a whole separate off-road model that shares its bones with the Escape but gets standard all-wheel drive wrapped in retro styling.

What’s New?

For 2026, the throwback Free Wheeling trim level is no more, but a new Bronze Package available for the entry-level Big Bend trim level adds bronze accents outside and in. The instrument cluster display also shrinks from 12.3 to 8 inches in the lesser variants. Also new is a Connectivity Package that comes standard for one year and includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, audio and video streaming, connected navigation and voice commands. In addition, the wireless smartphone charging pad and universal garage-door opener are dropped.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Ford Bronco Sport is on sale now. Full line pricing is as follows:

  • Big Bend: $33,840
  • Heritage: $36,140
  • Outer Banks: $38,940
  • Badlands: $42,260

Trim Levels and Safety Features

The entry-level Bronco Sport Big Bend rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and features black bumpers and lower-body trim, LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors, and keyless entry and starting. Four-wheel drive is standard, as are five driving modes (Ford calls them G.O.A.T. modes, for “Goes Over Any Type of Terrain”). Inside, the Big Bend features manually adjustable cloth seats, a manual tilt and telescoping steering column, automatic climate control, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa Built-In and a six-speaker audio system.

The Heritage trim level channels the original Bronco from the 1960s, wearing a white grille with red lettering, white 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires and a white roof. Its cabin features plaid cloth seats and white and navy-blue trim, but the Heritage is otherwise identical to the Big Bend.

To the Big Bend’s equipment, the Outer Banks adds 18-inch wheels, a black roof, LED foglights and remote start. Inside, it gains upgraded front seats with power adjustments, heating and memory settings for the driver, as well as dual-zone automatic climate control.

At the top of the Bronco Sport lineup, the Badlands features a larger, more powerful engine, an off-road suspension with an upgraded rear differential, steel skid plates and recovery hooks. It also gets two additional drive modes, leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel.

Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ is standard on the 2026 Bronco Sport. This suite of safety technologies includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane-centering steering, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, automatic high beams and rear parking sensors. Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0 is optional on the Outer Banks and standard on the Badlands; it adds a 360-degree camera system and front parking sensors.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The 2026 Bronco Sport Big Bend, Heritage and Outer Banks are all powered by a 180-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine making 200 pounds-feet of torque. The Badlands gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder putting out 250 hp and 280 pounds-feet. Both engines are backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and come standard with AWD.

Official EPA estimates for the 2026 model are not yet available, but for 2025, Bronco Sports with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder return EPA-rated fuel-economy figures of 25/30/27 mpg city/highway/combined. The Sasquatch off-road package available on the Outer Banks drops those ratings to 23/26/24 mpg. With its larger 2.0-liter engine, the Badlands is rated at 21/27/23 mpg.
