What Is the 2024 GMC Terrain?

The GMC Terrain is a compact SUV with seating for five. It’s powered by a 175-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that’s coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional on SLE and SLT trims; the off-road-themed AT4 and range-topping Denali trims have standard AWD. Direct rivals to the Terrain are numerous and include the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan

What’s New on the 2024 GMC Terrain?

The Terrain rolls into the 2024 model year with two new available exterior colors — Downpour Metallic and Riptide Metallic — but no significant changes otherwise.

What Features in the 2024 GMC Terrain Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Four USB ports
  • Satellite radio
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot (subscription required after initial trial)
  • Six-speaker audio system
  • Rear-seat reminder
  • Lane departure steering assist
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Remote start
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Navigation
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Semi-automated parking-assist feature
  • 360-degree camera system
  • 19-inch wheels

Should I Buy the 2024 GMC Terrain?

The 2024 GMC Terrain is a decent choice for anyone looking for a compact SUV with plenty of passenger and cargo space. Its fold-flat front passenger seat is especially handy when it comes to hauling bulky items. Its 175-hp turbo four-cylinder, however, provides only mediocre acceleration, and it’s middle of the pack at best among numerous rivals when it comes to fuel economy. On the plus side, the AT4 trim delivers a handsomely rugged exterior, and the upscale Denali provides a notable improvement in the Terrain’s interior quality and design.

  • SLT 4wd.

SLT 4wd. Peppy enough for highway use. Headlights are excellent and auto high beam works well. Worst manual adjusted driver seat I’ve experienced. Too hard a cushion under thighs and extremely uncomfortable after 30 minutes of driving. . Seatbelt difficult to fasten. Terrible gear selector. Terrible infotainment system with distracting unintuitive display and controls. Horrible AM radio reception. Works only marginally with Apple Car Play. Best fuel mileage I got with gentle driving is only 24 mpg in 2wd mode. After two weeks, was ready to turn it in.

  • I've had a 2024 Terrain for about 8 months now.

I've had a 2024 Terrain for about 8 months now. The transmission went out at 1464 miles and had to be replaced. Yesterday coming home from work, the car died at a red light and wouldn't start or even allow me to put it into neutral so I could get it pushed off the busy arterial. So I waited for about an hour for a tow truck. The car has 2024 miles on it now and has been in the shop over 3 weeks already. I'm waiting for the diagnosis now. To add to this, the dealer told me he can't give me a loaner since they are all out due to so many cars in their service lot waiting for engines and transmissions. Based on my personal experience I would stay away from any GMC product for at least another year or two. Hopefully they will figure out the problems and get them fixed.

To be honest, this SUV impressed me with the great performance even with the small 1.5 liter engine, and huge space inside, it rides like a bigger vehicle, very responsive on the highway and very quiet cabin. My wife really liked it.

  • Quality built vehicle

Very well made vehicle. Feels sturdy and has quality ride and features. The 1.5 L turbo four cylinder is plenty strong for daily use. The Elevation package has excellent gloss black wheels that are 19 inches. For daily driving this is a perfect SUV.

  • The New GMC Terraine

Right now we only have 1,500 miles on the car, but we drove it from Tampa to St Louis and it was a comfortable smooth ride. No problems accelerating to get back into interstate traffic. The car has a small engine but packs plenty of power. The big hill at Mount Eagle, Tennessee was no problem.

  • GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY

This is the 4th Terrain that we have owned. This is a great vehicle. Very versatile, comfortable and reliable. The Terrain is spacious can comfortably carry 5 and converted can haul lots of cargo. It's quiet inside with a comfortable ride. Bought a new color for 2024 called downpour. It's a rich metallic blue. My neighbor says it look like metallic blue jeans! All of our vehicles were purchased from the same dealership. They sell great products and have good service when needed
