Expert 2020 Lexus UX 200 review

What Is the 2020 Lexus UX?

The Lexus UX is a five-seat subcompact luxury SUV that’s offered in gas-only UX 200 and gas-electric hybrid UX 250h forms. The UX 200 comes with front-wheel drive, while the UX 250h has all-wheel drive. Competitors include the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class

What’s New on the 2020 Lexus UX?

Android Auto smartphone connectivity joins Apple CarPlay as standard equipment.

What Features in the 2020 Lexus UX Are Most Important?

Despite the UX’s entry-level position in Lexus’ lineup, its interior features upscale materials and high-tech features like an available 10.25-inch dashboard screen. A long list of standard active safety features includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, rear automatic braking and automatic high-beam headlights.

Should I Buy the 2020 Lexus UX?

The UX’s standard safety features are a highlight, but this is a small SUV and getting five people aboard will be a squeeze. The cargo area is small, too. The two available drivetrains are in no way bristling with power, but both the UX 200 and UX 250h get great EPA-estimated gas mileage. A deal-breaker for some shoppers may be the frustrating touchpad-based multimedia interface.

  • Are you RIGHT for the UX?

This is the right car for the right buyer. The UX best suits an older, or young couple WITHOUT kids. It is a classy daily driver that will give you excellent gas mileage (ours gets 32mpg to date). It is the most affordable Lexus, but it handles remarkably well. Acceleration is about 0-60 in 8 sec, which is soft, but that's not what this car is about. Take it for a long test drive in curvy hills, on freeways, on bumby roads. You'll know if it is wrong for you, or perfect, as it is for us.

  • Can't Wait for the Lease to be done

We've leased Lexus cars for about 11 years now. And this model is without question, the worst and most disappointing model ever. How Lexus even put this into production, let alone made it available to the general public is beyond me. It is so slow and clunky. The engine feels meager and anemic. Merging onto any freeway here in LA, is a huge challenge with this car. It's sluggishness puts you in jeopardy sometimes, if there is a situation you need to respond quickly to. The sound system is dull and lifeless and infotainment is horrendous to navigate. We've tried to take it back to the dealer, but apparently there is a shortage of microchips right now. And car inventory is at a low.

  • Love the UX!

Comforatable, yet still luxurious, plenty of room, downsized from an ES 350 and it still has enough legroom, + I get way better gas mileage.

  • Keep looking or have a long test drive.

This vehicle is severely underpowered. The drowning CVT is too loud to ignore, and generates a buzzy noise into the cabin. My vehicle is the F-Sport and the seats are very uncomfortable for long road trips. I’m a taller driver and can’t see to find the perfect position, no matter how many times I adjust. The backseat is basically useless as there is no legroom for adults. The design is very cool and I love the aggressive creases in the body. This car looks great at night and I enjoy the light bar on the back. I think the idea of this car is great, there are many shortcomings that can’t be ignored for the price. I’d take a longer test drive and test drive the competition.
