EPA-est. range EPA-est. range

EPA-estimated range is the distance, or predicted distance, a new plug-in vehicle will travel on electric power before its battery charge is exhausted. Actual range will vary depending on driving conditions, driving habits, elevation changes, weather, accessory usage (lights, climate control), vehicle condition and other factors.

Charge time estimates are based on using a 240-volt charging circuit charging from empty to 100% battery capacity. Level 2 is the fastest way to charge at home, though charging times can vary and are dependent on factors such as the capabilities of the charging circuit, charging equipment and the vehicle’s onboard charger. Level 2 charging time provided by Chrome Data, a JD Power company.

Battery capacity Battery capacity

Battery capacity is measured in kilowatt-hours, which is a measure of how much energy is used over time. A 70-kWh battery has more energy capacity than a 50-kWh battery and would result in a longer driving range if all other factors were equal. But more battery capacity doesn’t always mean longer range because of differences in energy consumption from vehicle to vehicle. Battery capacity provided by Chrome Data, a JD Power company.

2020 MINI Hardtop review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Mini Cooper?

The Mini Hardtop and Convertible are fun-to-drive small cars with a reputation for agility and parkability. The hatchback seats up to five, and the convertible has room for four. The base 134-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 189 or 228 hp paired with either the dual-clutch transmission or an eight-speed automatic is available. Competitors include the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Hyundai Veloster

What’s New on the 2020 Mini Cooper?

Manual-equipped models may be difficult to find this year as their availability was limited by a production delay.

What Features in the 2020 Mini Cooper Are Most Important?

No matter which engine or body style you choose, these Minis deliver sharp handling and an engaging driving experience. The performance-oriented John Cooper Works trim, in particular, is a blast to drive.

Standard features include a 6.5-inch multimedia screen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats. Available features include a panoramic moonroof, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, leather upholstery, navigation and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. Android Auto isn’t offered, however.

Should I Buy the 2020 Mini Cooper?

If you travel light — both in terms of luggage and passengers — the Mini Hardtop and Convertible are certainly worth consideration. People who love to drive will enjoy the cars’ responsive handling and direct steering, and a range of options makes them highly customizable. The interior also features quality materials and quirky touches, like toggle controls at the base of the dashboard.

This car is easy to drive, beautiful color, good on gas, handles well on cornering. Nice price and great tires too. This is my 3rd mini, so I love them!

Reliable but not as much fun

I bought a 2020 Oxford edition to replace my 2013 Cooper S. Seems heavy and slow, but probably better to slow me down and saved a lot of money!

Love to drive the car.

The car is perfect for me as my needs are such that I am the only driver. It handles beautifully, and has a lot pf spunk
