Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Subaru WRX starts at $33,690 (all prices include $1,195 destination charge).
  • Base trim level returns
  • New Series.Yellow to be produced in limited numbers

The 2025 model year was a rough one for the Subaru WRX. Subaru dropped the rally-bred compact all-wheel-drive sedan’s base trim level and increased prices across the remaining lineup — neither of which is an unusual change for an automaker refining its offerings and responding to market conditions. But WRX sales fell off a cliff in 2025, dropping by more than 40% compared to 2024. For 2026, then, the base trim level is back, and Subaru is cutting prices on all of the returning trim levels, as well. There’s also a limited-edition Series.Yellow variant, which sports Sunrise Yellow paint, black wheels and yellow interior accents.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Subaru WRX will go on sale in the spring. Full pricing is as follows; price changes from 2025 are noted in parentheses.

  • WRX: $33,690
  • Premium: $35,190 ($3,730 less)
  • Limited: $40,190 ($3,110 less)
  • GT: $46,190 ($2,685 less)
  • tS: $46,190 ($2,685 less)
  • Series.Yellow: $47,190

Trim Levels and Safety Features

Standard features on the entry-level WRX include keyless entry and start, 18-inch aluminum wheels and LED headlights. Inside are black cloth seats with red stitching, aluminum pedals, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an 11.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite is standard on every 2026 WRX and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, a driver-attention monitor and automatic high beams.

To that, the Premium adds blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, LED foglights, heated side mirrors, windshield-wiper de-icers and a trunk spoiler. The Premium’s cabin features upgraded cloth and trim, as well as heated front seats.

The Limited gains a moonroof, synthetic suede upholstery with red stitching, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

The most luxury-oriented WRX, the GT features a standard automatic transmission and adaptive dampers. It also includes reverse automatic emergency braking, a mix of leather and synthetic suede upholstery, Recaro front sport seats and a digital instrument cluster.

Based on the Limited, the tS rides on a sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers and satin-gray 19-inch wheels wearing summer performance tires. It also features Bembo brakes with gold calipers, black mirror housings, upgraded drive modes, and Recaro front seats; it also ditches the moonroof to give helmeted drivers more headroom. The tS’s cabin is dressed up with a digital instrument panel, blue stitching and seats upholstered in a mix of leather and synthetic suede.

Otherwise identical to the tS, the Series.Yellow complements its exclusive Sunrise Yellow paint with matte-black 19-inch wheels and yellow stitching in the cabin. Only 350 will be built for the U.S.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The heart of the 2026 WRX is its 271-horsepower, turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four-cylinder engine that puts out 258 pounds-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on every trim level except the GT, which gets a standard continuously variable automatic; the CVT is a $1,000 option on the Limited. AWD is standard.

With the manual transmission, Subaru says the 2026 WRX returns the same EPA-rated 19/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined as the 2025 model (official EPA estimates for 2026 are not yet available). Cars equipped with the CVT are rated at 18/25/21 mpg.
